While the food and service were excellent, if you’re celiac or gluten intolerant, be careful ordering the items marked gluten free. They had a lot of options (which is why we went), but when I ordered the Japanese rice bowl, I asked if I could get chicken instead of the salmon or tofu the comes with the dish. I asked if they had a GF chicken option, and the waitress said that would be no problem, but then warned me that one sauce used in the dish I wanted isn’t GF. She said it could simply be omitted. My issue is that the dish was labelled GF but contained gluten. If I hadn’t wanted a substitute, I would have been very sick. This makes me wonder if anything else labelled GF actually needs to be modified. They should put GF option available instead of simply GF. That’s so dangerous for people who are very sensitive to gluten. You wouldn’t expect something marked vegan to contain meat, or something marked nut free to contain nuts. So irresponsible and disappointing.
Charming spot perfect for fueling up before your next adventure, known for great takeout, lovely atmosphere, and top-notch service.

My husband and I stopped here for breakfast last week before we did Shubie River Wranglers tidal bore rafting. My husband had a delicious omelet and I had the pancakes and bacon. Today we stopped again, this time for lunch, on our way from Lunenburg to Cape Breton. My husband had the full house salad with chicken and I had a chicken salad sandwich with home fries. Both times we also did take out for their meat pies and desserts. We love everything about this lovely restaurant. Service and food are top notch. My husband has a gluten allergy and the menu was very accommodating for him. Make sure to stop by if you are in Truro!

Extremely disappointing. My family and I ate here about a month ago and the food was great, we were so excited to come back tonight but unfortunately it was a very different experience this time around.
The hostess was super sweet, but our waitress came and didn’t even introduce herself. Just “what would you like for drinks”. I don’t even know that she said hi. It was just abrupt and unwelcoming. We then ordered the arancini as an appetizer for my daughter and it was frozen in the middle. We let our server know and she replaced them. No big deal. They were busy and I get that mistakes happen. We then proceeded to wait 45 minutes for our mains. Which again, they’re busy. I get it and it wouldn’t have bothered me to wait if the food was good. But the food finally came and my daughter’s pasta had very obviously been sitting under a heat lamp for quite some time and my partner picked a large chunk of onion peel out of one of his onion rings. When he asked for more ketchup it didn’t come. But the worst of all was my pizza. I ordered gluten free crust which I understand comes frozen but there’s no way anyone thawed it or even attempted to. It was soggy and uncooked when it arrived. I could tell from first glance that it wasn’t cooked and as a server myself, I’m not sure how our server didn’t send it back the minute she saw it. They clearly slapped on some toppings and threw it in the oven on broil so it at least looked a little brown on the top but the bottom was completely uncooked. I didn’t eat it and I didn’t even bother to complain. No one asked why I didn’t eat it, if it was good.. nothing. Incredibly disappointing. We won’t be back.

Aside from the delicious pizza, donair and garlic fingers that the whole family loves, I decided to try the gluten free pizza for me. DID NOT DISAPPOINT! I will get this again.
