There was no-one to greet us to tell us where our booked table was. We had to stop a member of staff who happily assisted us - usually there is someone on the door greeting customers upon entry.
Service at the bar was fine and the bartender was very helpful with my wife's gluten free order.
I find that the drinks at all Marston's are VERY expensive and it puts me off going to your pubs.
The food was satisfactory - nothing special. My carvery was OK at best (the one a couple of weeks ago was much better overall - the meat on offer was the end of the joints for all 3 meats. My beef was really chewy with a seam of fatty gristle going through it. The turkey was just a mass of crumbled meat as it had dried out so much. The cabbage was almost raw and I couldn't eat it. The rest of the veg was fine.
The tables weren't 100% clean and a bit sticky. Only a few napkins in the condiment holder - I had to fetch more.
I find that your pubs are nearly always understaffed with the staff on duty run off their feet.
The Blaina Wharf lacks an atmosphere and isn't somewhere that I'd like to spend a whole evening in - we didn't stay after we had finished our meal.

My friends and I had a fantastic afternoon tea at Belle Vue. One of my friends is gluten free and was provided with a full selection of gluten free rolls, cakes, and scone, while the other two of us had our own selections. Proper china and linen made us feel very refined. The service was fantastic, very friendly staff. They even had doggie bags at hand ready for us to take our leftovers!

My fav place to go for a quiet drink or coffee. The staff are always friendly and happy to help. Nice variety of drinks on the menu from softs, coffees and cocktails. The atmosphere is warm and cosy inside. Has a lovely outside seating area for those warmer days. It's dog friendly too which is a bonus. Only reason I marked food down by 1 star is there are limited gluten free options. What I have eaten there though was lovely. Definitely recommend.
