First time dining at Black Walnut Cafe. It was busy (as it was Easter), but there were plenty of seats. This is a “seat yourself” establishment, which is not really clear until until you walk into the restaurant. Once my party walked in, there was plenty of choice seating. The servers were professional and friendly and the food was good. The portion sizes were just right, but the gluten free pancakes were a little dry (even with syrup). The kids gluten free cheese burger and fries were good as was the Mac and cheese and grilled chicken. The experience was pleasant and we will definitely visit again.

Love this restaurant. I come here regularly, and every time I come in, I’m greeted with a smile and a friendly face. I have food intolerances and when the staff see me come in, they automatically wash their hands and change gloves without me needing to prompt them. Delicious. Healthy. Welcoming. Environmentally friendly. Simply awesome. They had a large selection of fresh vegetables and nuts to add to each salad, with only a few items needing extra money, like avocado (since it goes bad quickly). You can also get wraps and soups, they're really great with dietary restrictions like gluten free, dairy free, vegan, and vegetarian. They have reusable silverware (though you can ask for one-use if you want...) which is really great for the environment - less plastic waste! Overall it's such a great place, awesome for healthy meals at any time of the day (the large salads are actually enough to fill you up for dinner)! Absolutely recommend. 10/10

Ordered through Uber eats. Also, called right after to make sure items were correct. 3 breakfast crepes extra crispy 1 gluten free w extra eggs and cheese. None were marked to make distinction, they all weighed the same and none were crispy. Ordered 6 fruit/sweet sides for 3 different people to which they packed into a single crepe. I called them after order was received and they answered and hung up twice.

Clean and friendly, can't have a good restaurant experience without that as a start. Staff was attentive but also I saw a time or two when we got a peek from the server, she could tell we didn't need anything and she let us be. I though that was nice b/c sometimes staff actually comes by TOO often. Food was very good - steak, apps, snapper and short rib were ordered around the table and everything was cooked to order and very tasty. Our server asked if we had short ribs before and explained that she checked with people first b/c they are so fatty and that could be off-putting to someone who maybe didn't expect that. We did expect that so it wasn't news to us, but I thought it was a nice touch that she took a minute to make sure we would get something that we would like. Quite a variety on the menu so we will definitely be back. One great thing about their menu is that there are gluten-free and veggie options, and they have numerous dishes with an 'omnivore' version directly followed by a veggie version which is pretty nice to see. Will be back for sure.

It was a little noisy inside but we sat outside with the gentle noise of the fountain in the background, which was very pleasant. Our server Alissa was attentive to our needs. The food was very enjoyable with a selection of gluten free options.
