Had a delicious breakfast and piping hot coffee. Delicious. Very attentive service. Wonderful to have gluten free options. Would visit all the time if I lived in Birmingham. Nice spot to eat and do a little work.
Expect a long wait but enjoy unique and tasty taco options, a vibrant atmosphere, and nearby bars to pass the time.

El barrio is one of Birminghams restaurants. You can expect to wait on friday and saturday evenings due to the high demand for delicious food at a reasonable price. The servers work harmoniously during busy times and have a streamlined process so that you have the best dining experience. They are gracious about accommodating dietary needs and restrictions which is so welcome due to the Birmingham food scene largely lacking that. The only things that could make them better is gluten free churros on the menu.
Try the queso!
Located in downtown north of Birmingham, this spot is perfect for lounging with great coffee, delicious meals, and a chill vibe.

It was our first time going here and the staff was very helpful and explained the menu wonderfully.
Gluten free options!
The host even advised against certain dishes that seemed like they were gluten free but weren't 💓
10/10 would go again! Food was delicious!!!

We are big fans of the food and service. So we asked them to serve 40 of us for a wedding rehearsal dinner in a delightful upstairs venue. We were able to get appetizers served buffet style and a great array of main courses served to each guest. The open bar, was staffed by Mason, who handles special events. He did a fantastic job in the planning and the pouring. As always, the great EastWest staff helped take wonderful care of all our friends and family. They satisfied our vegan, gluten-free and other needs. Highly recommend for a dinner or a gathering.
I don't even like Italian food (I'm gluten-intolerant so generally stay away from pizza and pasta) but even my intolerance had to indulge a few bites in the pizza that my sister and parents got. All the food was unbelievable - from the prosciutto melon dish, to all the appetizers and the sausage dish I got. Hands-down one of the best Italian restaurants I've tried. Extra points for a kind, attentive, and entertaining staff!
Super difficult to get a table during weekend brunch hours, but completely worth the attempt — try going really early or late to avoid the crowds, and only with a group of 2-3 people. The food is unbelievable! We shared a homemade croissant to start (amazing), as they ran out of homemade pop tarts during Sunday brunch). Highly recommend getting a pastry as they’re known for them (and rightfully so!).
For entrees we tried the breakfast sandwich, the steak & eggs, and the Essential Hash — and we all loved what we ordered! Highly recommend the hash if you need something super filling but still gluten free/ relatively healthy. The steak with the steak & eggs special was perfectly cooked and comes with delicious homemade salsa verde on it.
Super nice service and vibe (perfectly curated decor with a trendy vintage feel), and if you put your name down and have a wait, you can walk around to nearby shops downtown.
