An Unforgettable GF & VG Dining Experience at Lila – Sarasota, FL
Visiting from Ridgefield, CT, my wife Julie and I had the pleasure of dining at Lila during our trip to Sarasota for US Rowing Youth Nationals — and we were absolutely blown away. Julie follows a gluten-free and dairy-free diet, and this was hands down the best GF and DF dinner she has ever had. The flavors, presentation, and care put into each dish were exceptional.
I ordered a regular entrée (the Green Circle Airline Chicken breast) and was equally impressed — it’s clear that Lila is dedicated to delivering a high-quality experience for all diners, no matter their dietary preferences.
To top it all off, we shared the GF and DF Key Lime pie for dessert, and it was exquisite! — creamy, tangy, and the perfect finish to a memorable meal.
Thank you, Lila, for making us feel so welcome and for proving that gluten-free and dairy-free food can be both indulgent and refined. We’ll be dreaming about this meal for a long time, and look forward to coming back!

Had a fabulous meal at this lovely local restaurant. Located on Main Street in downtown Sarasota, they offer indoor and outdoor dining. Unpretentious and very European feeling with little tables scattered on the sidewalk. The service was prompt and the food excellent. Probably the best pasta I’ve had outside of Italy. As an aside, I noted that most dishes can be made gluten-free should that be a requirement, something seen frequently in Europe but not so much in North America. Overall, a great meal and will definitely return on our next trip to Sarasota.

I don’t know what happened to this place!
We used to come here often because they had a great gluten-free burger (the OMG burger) and an excellent chicken milanesa with a nice arugula and cherry tomato salad.
Then suddenly, everything changed. One day we went back and the gluten-free bun was awful—dry and stale. The burger patty had no flavor and was completely dry, even though we ordered it medium. It honestly felt like they had changed the entire menu.
And what they still list as a “chicken milanesa” on the menu is no longer a milanesa. I’m honestly outraged. I ordered a milanesa, which means a breaded chicken cutlet, and what I got was a tiny piece of grilled chicken completely dry and flavorless.
I don’t know if they changed the owners or the chef, but what I do know is that I definitely won’t be coming back.

Not sure what all the hype is about. Atmosphere felt cold and empty, had to return my plate. My girlfriend's dish was good but she got sick afterwards (gluten allergy) when we specifically asked what we can get that's Gluten free and kitchen verified. My experience was awesome, the food is excellent 👌 I'm gluten-free (intolerance) and I got the Skirt Steak and had no issues. I wish the food never ended, it was delicious and presented beautifully. The steak is buttery and soft, cooked perfectly, medium rare. The plantains were so unique, they were like sweet potatoes to me, and the tart beet sauce was a great combo.
The service was great, my waiter was very considerate and accommodating.

This is such a fun vibe for a group of people! The food was really tasty and a great size portion of pasta, which is hard to find. It was also pretty light on the sauce which made me leave not feeling too heavy or bloated. They have options for gluten free pasta too. My Italian margarita was a 100/10! The best of the best. The drinks took like 50 minutes to come out and the waitress brought us free garlic bread for the wait which was the sweetest thing ever. I will definitely be back! I am gluten free and dairy free, so an “ice cream cone” for me is rare! But Alonso homemakes all the gelato flavors from scratch using fresh ingredients - nothing artificial is their claim. In addition to the 15 or so diary flavors, he also offers not 1 (like most places do) but 6 dairy free options, including my favorite “Chocolate!” The cones are all gluten free. They make some dipped in dairy free chocolate and jimmies for a truly luxurious experience! Every time I walk by or enter, I see Alonso serving up his treats with a friendly smile.
