A must stop while in Wrightsville Beach! Awesome coffee in the AM and a great place to grab a quick delicious lunch and head back to the beach. My husband was super excited to try the hamburger hot dog- an all beef dog with cheddar cheese in the dog! I was thankful for thee Gluten free dogs and buns! Fast, friendly service that goes above and beyond! Don’t miss out on this gem!
I’m so sad to say we likely won’t be visiting this restaurant for a while. We’ve been coming here for years and years during special occasions and several times during the summer. Apparently there’s a new executive chef that has to be tone deaf not to have ANYTHING AT ALL in 2024 denoted GF.
Nothing beef and no potatoes except for fries. Most of our family is GF ranging from celiac to allergy. And some of us don’t like seafood but this restaurant has always been THE place the go for any anniversary or birthday because sea lovers and land lovers could be equally happy. I love a good ribeye and loaded bake potato while my husband gets surf and turf and my 5 kids get fish and shrimp. But not this time. We spent several min scared to death we were glutinized because a line cook gave bad data to our waitress. Our waitress was amazing. No shade in her AT ALL- her name was Emma and she made every effort to help us navigate our allergies and desires despite a much smaller range of menu. Thankfully even though the recipe for one of the appetizers had changed and now had gluten, that day it wasn’t made that way. I can only thank God for that inexplicable mercy.
All in all we enjoyed ourselves to the tune of $400.
To the head chef, if the menu doesn’t include a regular menu beef option and potatoes beyond fries, that’s really short sighted and we won’t be returning. Plz reconsider your menu as far as GF options being intentional too. Thank you to everyone else who makes Oceanic an amazing place to relax and celebrate.
I’ve been visiting Tower 7 since my college days—basically since right after it opened. I bought my first surfboard, a beautiful WRV from Sweet Water surf shop in 01. Over the years, I’ve watched this little spot grow and change. Every summer, without fail, I visit the beach—and I always come to Tower 7. It’s become an icon of my summers; a tradition. I've introduced it to my children who now know what Tower 7 is and ask for it. I’m 42 now, so we’re talking about 20 years of memories. If I weren't 2 hours away, I'd come to eat more often!
Tower 7 has always felt like my special little hole-in-the-wall. The chips and salsa? My favorite. And the margaritas? Also my favorite!
Over the last few years, I’ll admit, I noticed a slight decline—nothing major, but enough to dim the magic a little. I chalked it up to the pandemic. Outdated. The bathrooms and hallway needed renovating, the ventilation wasn’t great, the front felt cramped with all the extra seating crammed in, and the menus were outdated. Presentation of food was different. Even the vibe from the staff seemed off. But I kept coming back—because this place means something to me. I never felt it was worth not visiting, though.
Yesterday was my first visit of the summer, and I was so happy to see changes. The hostess stand has been updated and is way more functional and welcoming, pushed back and kind of separates the kitchen hustle & bustle from the seating area. That crowded seating area to the right when you walk in? Gone. The hallway and bathrooms have been completely renovated, now featuring beautiful tiling and a much fresher atmosphere. I don't feel like I'm going to collide with staff going in or out of the kitchen (lol). Best of all—the energy is back.
A quick tip: aim to visit around 5 p.m.—it gets packed after that, and parking along Breeza and the surrounding strip can be tough.
And a word to the wise: if you’re expecting authentic, traditional Mexican food—don’t. This is Tex-Mex, and it’s good. If you’re from California, remember—you’re on the East Coast. That authentic Cali flavor you’re used to just isn’t going to be here. So please don’t come with that expectation. What you will find is good food in a surfy beach spot, with the spirit of beach life infused throughout. Surf videos play on the TVs, surfboards and logos line the walls—Tower 7 lives and breathes its location.
I also have Celiac Disease, and I’ve always felt safe here. Their corn tortillas are handmade, and I’ve never had an issue/gotten sick. The staff are knowledgeable and never make me feel like a burden when I have questions or want to try something new. That matters. A lot! Just ask - there's a few sauces that aren't safe.
I cherish this place. I’m genuinely glad it’s still here, still evolving, and still delivering those summer memories for me and my kids.
Our waitress couldn’t have been more delightful. She bent over backwards to help me navigate a menu that was not easy for Gluten Free choices. She made great suggestions and was very helpful. My shrimp and grits were phenomenal. But my husband’s smashed potatoes had something hard in them and he almost broke a tooth. It’s on a busy road and not a lot of ambiance. Over all a good spot that I would try again
Great spot for quick, healthy breakfast. The avocado toast was excellent! I got it on gluten free bread which was some of the best I have had. The Japanese iced coffee was great and the perfect strength.
This was an excellent dining experience. The drinks were outstanding including a top notch Painkiller and Mai Tai. The wagyu meatball appetizers were excellent and the crab dip was excellent. The fresh catch was tile fish and it was prepared perfectly with excellent rice and a squash puree. The restaurant is very attentive to gluten free which was critical because my wife and daughter are both celiac.
Came here for dinner with 3 others.
I got the gluten-free cosmic q, and it was delicious. The crust was good- thin and crispy.
A friend got the meat calzone and said it was great. Others got the thin crust pizza, and both enjoyed it.
Service was good.
My husband and I visited The Shark Bar 3x during our week in Wilmington we enjoyed it so much! The service was great, very knowledgeable about seafood freshness and allergen info. I am celiac, and they were able to accommodate with a gooood GF bun. They are very dog friendly; on our last trip to Shark Bar we sat outside with our two dogs! We will definitely be back.
My wife and I had brunch here with our son, who lives in Wilmington, NC. Staff are very friendly and efficient. They have plenty of vegetarian and gluten-free options. Food in general was delicious, especially their fluffy pancakes.
If you have insatiable hunger after hitting the waves, do yourself a solid and stop here. Staff are kind + quick! Many Gluten-Free and Vegan options. Everything on the menu is delicious and filling!
Cool spot with views of the amazing Atlantic. Beautiful baristas and the White Chocolate Latte is killer. They also have a good selection of draft and can beers, as well as wine. They usually have muffins and pastries and keep some gluten free stuff on hand from Spoonfed. The parking meters start at 9am now. It is light enough to surf by @530a. Come down, take a dip, then come finish your session off with a hot or cold beverage. With usually only 1 or 2 baristas, there can be a little wait for any specialty drinks if they're busy. Smallish interior that can seat @ 40 max, but @ 15 feels like the right amount.
