Chef Davide and his wife Carla moved to the UK in 2015, having run a successful vegan restaurant in their native Sardinia for many years, and opened Ancient Grains in the popular Meads Village in Eastbourne a few years ago. The restaurant has proved very successful, serving traditional, and rather delicious Sardinian dishes. Following a recent refurbishment the restaurant has just re-opened from Thurs-Sun, and the really good news is that Sardinian Sunday roasts are now on the menu for the first time! Between us, we had roast lamb, pork, and chicken, all beautifully cooked and wonderfully tender, having been thoroughly marinated beforehand. Instead of the traditional English accompaniments of greens and Yorkshire pudding, was a mixture of red peppers and chicory, alongside potatoes and carrots. Homemade garlic toast was an interesting addition. So, if you fancy Sunday lunch with a difference, why not give it a try. For dessert we had a dark orange truffle with cashew nuts, maple syrup and orange zest, served with homemade vanilla ice cream: vegan, gluten-free, and delicious!
On other days, the restaurant offers a walk-in menu, or for those who book in advance, a more extensive pre-order menu. The pasta dishes are particularly good, with the pasta made on site, including a gluten-free option, which is very welcome.
Charming late Victorian vibe with beautiful sea views, a new veranda, and a nostalgic feel that’s perfect for relaxation and light work.

My work trip was good. The hotel was quiet at this time of the year. A few daytime functions. I worked in Eastbourne 2 of the 3 days. 1 day spent at the hotel. Room was clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Mattress uncomfortable. Told staff tried to add a board under the mattress. Would have maybe expected a little more.
Over all beautiful sea views. Room has coffee and a fridge. Desk and seating.
Food catered for gluten-free and vegetarians.
Expect a vibrant atmosphere with a diverse menu that's perfect for impressing your guests and enjoying delicious, unique dishes.

By far the best pub in Eastbourne. The menu has a great variety of dishes including gluten free and vegan options. The food is incredible (especially the pies!). The staff are wonderful every time I visit and it’s a favourite when I have guests to stay. Today I had a Brie, Truffle and butternut squash tart and it was unbelievable!
A spot known for its amazing service and unique flavors that keeps fans coming back for more delicious experiences.

Decent Chinese food with gluten free options. In Meads Village a 30min walk from the centre or catch the 3A bus. Service was quick. The sweet and sour chicken was good, not outstanding, and I enjoyed my veggie 5 spice Tofu, reasonable value at £44 for 2 meals and drinks.
This small guest house is run by a lovely, friendly lady and her husband. Our room was small but comfortable and clean. There was a good choice at breakfast time and the brilliant thing is, alternatives to dairy milk are available, as is gluten free and vegan food. The owner caters for many dietary requirements. There is parking available outside on the road but you have to be quick!! This guest house is a short walk to the seafront and tibrhe city centre.
