Such an interesting and characterful, attractive place! We chanced upon the Old Electric Shop when seeking a brunch (with gluten free options). We were impressed with the quality of the food and the welcoming, very helpful staff. Well worth a visit even if it is only to wander around and enjoy the variety of interesting displays. Oh, and the coffee is very good!

Have just had supper at The Old Black Lion and what a treat. The ambience and welcome took the chill off a cold October evening, the food was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious, the service was friendly and efficient, just as it should be. My dairy and gluten free needs were not a problem and I can't wait to come back on our next visit to Hay.

The food was absolutely lovely, with a great selection of gluten-free options available. The oat milk lattes were a highlight, and the raspberry and almond Bakewell tart (gluten-free) was simply divine. The cafe's warm and inviting atmosphere made it a perfect spot to relax. For those planning a visit, there are on-street parking options and a small car park nearby, with a larger one just a short walk away. I highly recommend The Cosy Cafe and look forward to returning soon!

Absolutely loved it here. I had the fish cakes. They were Gluten free and you have 2 on a bed of outstanding celeriac slaw, pickled red onion and salad leaves with homemade tartare sauce. There is mozzarella in the fish cakes too. 😋😋😋 Very welcoming lady to greet you and take your order.
We stumbled upon this place during Hay Festival and it was perfect. One dish done superbly (with gluten free and vegan options). Generous falafel, halloumi, salad and bread.

We booked Origin Pizza to cater the evening food at our wedding and are so glad we did! Nick and Bea were lovely - their communication was excellent throughout and the pizzas were *incredible*!! We had a tasting before our big day to choose the ones we wanted and got to name them too. Our guests raved about them and our gluten free guests said the gluten free ones were the best they’d ever had (and they had tried a lot!). There was plenty to go around and Nick and Bea boxed up any spares so our guests could keep nibbling once they’d left. Would HIGHLY recommend xxx
