Why is the food here so good? I ask because it absolutely does not have to be. I feel like for a successful board game restaurant/bar space, there are three main points.
Good Game Selection
Full Bar with fun drink options
Excellent Food
Every board game place I have ever been to has excelled at 2 out of 3 of those and the 3rd things is always... pretty meh. So my question is why do they have 800+ games, A full bar, AND the food is exceptional? I understand it, but I respect it.
I rarely give 5 stars across the board, but for Pieces its worth it. I visited the new space last night and it was such a great experience. All of the reasons I didn't enjoy the last venue in Soulard (tight spaces, hard to maneuver especially with large parties, noise level) have all been fixed by the new place by the brewery. Its a beautiful space. If it has been a while since you've visited there are subtle changes that they have made.
1. Better organization of their massive game collection. Its all on one wall now so its easier to peruse (and so your butt isnt in someones face while they eat.)
2. The 'flags' at the table to mark service are all 3D printed. Board game genre signage is all lasercut. Its the little things, yall.
3. Three private game rooms, and a large reservable space for parties.
4. The restaurant was full and it was not too loud. I don't know enough about interior design to know why this is a thing.
5. Expanded menu and Drink Menu (Menu has gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan options)
6. Planned outdoor space (it was not open when I was there because it was like 30 degrees out)
If its been a while since you've visited, I highly recommend checking out the new space.
Fun vibes and a creative menu featuring unique dishes like a giant nacho pizza make this spot a must-visit!

The waitress was knowledgeable about gluten free options and the menu is properly labeled. They also can make some tacos gluten free if you ask. My daughter got the big ass nacho which was really fun bc it literally is one big nacho pizza. I love the governors tacos and the portobello taco. Everything I've ever eaten here, even with gluten, is delightful.
Cozy, romantic vibes with a warm atmosphere make this spot a must-visit for pizza lovers and those looking for a unique dining experience.

Their vegan gluten free pizza with the cashew cheese is incredible - and that is a touch feat because you are working without pretty much all the main ingredients in pizza!
If you are visiting STL, you MUST eat here. Get the ribs. Thank me later. Seriously, this is THE location to try authentic St. Louis BBQ. After much trial of other famous BBQ joints across America, I can attest that Bogart's ribs are the best. Better than Memphis, Kansas City, Houston, etc. The meat literally melts in your mouth with an explosion of sweetness, herbs, spices, and meat. Perfection has been reached! My wife and I are gluten free and we find plenty of options. The menu is well labeled. Service is fast but tables are limited. If you have a large group, I recommend going to their sister location, Pappy's. Centered in Soulard, the atmosphere is authentic, perhaps the most authentic setting possible for a St. Louis staple. You'll find no better place to eat while in STL!

This was my first order from insomnia cookies and was very impressed and very pleased when we got warm fresh cookies delivered and my gluten free ones kindly bagged separately from my boyfriends! They were hands down some of the best gluten free cookies I’ve ever had and I will absolutely be ordering again!
