After my spiel, they reassured me both over the phone and in person that they were able to serve Celiacs with confidence. It took me literally two bites and a speed run to the washroom to realize that was completely untrue. I left the meal 98% untouched, and informed the server that the food had made me ill and that we needed to pay ASAP so I could go back to my private hotel bathroom. Paid for everything and left in tears - the staff didn’t even apologise or offer to comp my meal. Was a great last night for our vacation. Slay Noi Thai

Such a cool place to eat! I got a spinach bagel made on gluten free bread that was a little disappointing because it wasnt super flavorful, but my husband got the pineapple pizza on gluten free crust and that was super good! I appreciate there being gluten free options! They will make the bagels or sandwiches with gluten free bread! And they play hawaiian Jesus music and they just put on such a nice atmosphere here. :) this place deserves more business!
Tucked away from the hustle, this spot offers a lively atmosphere with cool outdoor seating, perfect for enjoying a meal and occasional local performances.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at P.F. Chang’s Honolulu thanks to our amazing waitress, Carlie. My son has celiac disease and has to eat strictly gluten free, which can often make dining out stressful and difficult. Carlie went above and beyond to make sure we felt comfortable and taken care of. She was very knowledgeable about gluten-free options, especially for kids. Her kindness, patience, and attentiveness truly made our meal enjoyable and stress-free.
Famous for its vibrant smoothie bowls and fresh ingredients, this trendy spot offers generous portions and a lively atmosphere, though prices are on the high side.

Prices have dramatically increased, still delicious.
Used to come here all the time, unlimited toppings pizzas were $12. Now they are $19 and +2-$6 for various crust options (thick crust, cauliflower and gluten free.) Still delicious.

One of my top choices of coffee shops in Hawaii for hot Kona coffee. There was already a long line at 8am, however the staff worked efficiently to keep the line moving. Order ahead option is available with online menus. It would be helpful to have separate beverage only and food lines as well. This Waikiki location has gluten free and plant based menus. Highly recommend!

Celebrated our anniversary here and Roy’s was lovely.
The food is was amazing, as well as the service.
Made reservations, as most places in Honolulu need a reservation to get in and there was a slight wait to our table.
The misoyaki butterfish was succulent and delicious.
The carpaccio, tataki, and poke was refreshing.
They were able to accommodate our dietary needs for gluten free.
Keep room for desserts at the end. They also gave us ice cream at the end for our celebration.
Nestled by the beach, this spot boasts live music, unique smoothie presentations, and a diverse menu to satisfy everyone’s cravings!

CELIAC REGRETS. Beautiful place, fun atmosphere, SUPER UNINFORMED staff. My gluten intolerant family member with celiac disease ordered a burger with gluten free bun. The apparently mostly teenage staff didn't know enough to warn her that there is flour IN the burger?? What kind of recipe is that?? WHY would you offer GF bun for wheat-containing patty? She felt an allergic-like reaction in her mouth a few bites in, so I went to ask about the ingredients of the burger. The cashier had to check with everyone else in the joint to find the ingredients. Only the cook seemed to know that the burger was not GF...why would you put a gluten-containing patty on a gluten-free bun?? I see that this is definitely not our smartest moment for not checking the ingredients/reviews beforehand or for trusting the non-dedignated gf menu, but this place is also irresponsible for putting allergens into a dish that shouldn't contain gluten to begin with. She will be in horrible pain all week, so much so that we might have to change our flight dates so she's not sick on the plane.
Casual vibe with cafeteria service and ocean views, perfect for tasty meals in a busy spot, but watch out for wobbly tables and music issues.

No frills restaurant with very good food, staff was very knowledgable and able to cater for our coeliac daughter (which we found to be a struggle in other restaurants around Waikiki). Food was lovely, great place for a quick meal.
A vibrant spot with a massive menu, great outdoor seating, and generous portions perfect for sharing—definitely a favorite for travelers!

We ate here on two different nights. Tristan and Zac were our servers and helped us navigate gluten-free options. They were both excellent and did a great job.

Atmosphere was decent & inviting. Service was basic with self ordering. Gluten Free French toast was burnt on the underside. Pretty much ruined the desire to go back.

I chose to dine here on April 6 based on reviews about allergy accommodation, but unfortunately left very disappointed.
The restaurant was unusually busy (as the owner mentioned), with what seemed to be just the owner cooking and one staff member at the front. Upon ordering, I clearly communicated that I was Celiac and also had peanut and tree-nut allergies. My partner and I were sharing our meals, so the allergy note was requested for both bowls. The lady suggested we order a drink while we wait for our food, which my partner did.
After a 45-minute wait, our meals arrived but with substitutions (sides doubled up as they ran out of what we ordered) that were not communicated. I found sliced almonds in one of my sides, despite my allergy. After 10 mins of waiting for someone to be available, I asked the owner to clarify if there was nuts in any of the sides, he admitted there were almonds and possibly walnuts in the soba or brussel sprouts and explained there was no allergy note on the order. While he was very nice and apologetic, no solution was offered, and I was left with nothing safe to eat. We also did not receive the drink until after our food was served, what was the point of ordering the drink then?
To make matters worse, the front-of-house staff was visibly overwhelmed and unwelcoming. There was no effort made to notify customers about substitutions, reservation/order cancellations, or delays—something I witnessed multiple guests frustrated over.
For a restaurant that promotes itself as allergy/diet preference-aware, this experience was unacceptable. We left our $47 meals untouched and went elsewhere.
Unique soft-serve sensations await, with incredible flavors like Ube and Toasted Niu, perfect for everyone craving a delicious treat!

So good. They have great soft serve with the benefit of also being gluten free and dairy free. We’ve come here at least once a week since arriving on-island. My favorite is the ube-niu swirl with sesame brittle.

Just across the street of my hotel, I found this little jewel of plant based deliciousness. I had the spinach dhal, a salad and a handful falafels. All that for only $13.50. Friendly staff and great music. Lots of choices and all plant based. The majority of dishes were Gluten Free. Will be back, for sure.

The most accommodating to gluten free I've seen in Hawaii! I really enjoyed breakfast here!! My wife and I had the Gluten free avocado toast and GF waffles and the avocado toast was the best we've ever had! Great service here too!

My new favorite Thai restaurant!! Most delicious of any I’ve been to. Love the atmosphere, with all seating outside.
Very accommodating and able to make lots of dishes vegan, if not already (some have fish sauce.) Appreciate the clear labeling on the menu for vegan and gluten free.
Big portions!
We had to wait for a table for lunch, Fri at 1. So might be a good idea to make reservations.

**California Pizza Kitchen - Honolulu, Hawaii: A Surprising Disappointment**
As frequent travelers, California Pizza Kitchen has always been a reliable go-to for us, especially since my wife is gluten-sensitive. Their gluten-free pizza options and fresh, creative salads have consistently made CPK a staple in our dining routine. However, our recent visit to the Honolulu location was the first time we left feeling less than satisfied.
We were initially excited, as this stop at CPK has always been a highlight when traveling. The ambiance was as welcoming as ever, with the familiar open-kitchen vibe and friendly staff. We started with a salad, which was fresh and flavorful, just as we remembered. Unfortunately, the main event—the gluten-free pizza—didn’t live up to our expectations this time around.
The gluten-free crust, usually a reliable choice, was lackluster, bordering on soggy rather than the crisp, light texture we've come to expect. The toppings, which are typically vibrant and full of flavor, seemed unevenly distributed and lacked the usual freshness. The overall experience with the pizza left us disappointed, especially given how consistent CPK has been for us in the past.
To make matters worse, our order of **Buffalo Cauliflower** came out with only two small pieces of cauliflower on the plate. We immediately let our server know, and while she quickly apologized and took the dish back to the kitchen to be fixed, it was concerning that such an obvious mistake wasn’t caught before it reached our table. The dish was corrected, but it left us questioning the attention to detail in the kitchen.
The manager did come by to address the issue, but his explanation was less than satisfying. He mentioned that they portion everything by weight, but when I asked how two tiny pieces could possibly meet their portion standards, he was unable to provide a clear answer. It felt more like an excuse than a genuine attempt to rectify the situation.
It's worth noting that the service remained attentive, and the salad was still a hit, which helped salvage the experience somewhat. However, given how important the gluten-free pizza is for us, this visit fell short of the standard that CPK has set in our minds.
We hope this was just an off night for the kitchen, as we've always held CPK in high regard. We’ll likely give it another chance on future trips, but this visit left us wishing for the consistency and quality we’ve come to associate with California Pizza Kitchen.

Food: Good portions for a good price. The menu’s 100% vegan, and all their meat substitutions are gluten free. I had the BBQ chicken platter, which was a delicious helping of ‘chicken’, salad, and Mac’nCheese. On the side, I drank a tasty pipeline paradise smoothie and some soft serve. Only distraction is the dessert was a little too sweet. Speaking of sweets, they sell daily-made cookies and doughnuts.
Service: the food came quick and they made the chicken extra spicy just for me. Since they don’t have a bathroom, I used the one at a cafe across the street.
Atmosphere: a quaint little restaurant with limited seating outside and interior perimeter. They pump Reggae over the speakers to put everyone at ease.
This spot impresses with vibrant, authentic Thai flavors, fresh ingredients, diverse menu options, and a warm, inviting atmosphere.

Red Elephant Thai Cuisine" is often praised for its delicious, authentic Thai flavors, and it stands out for several reasons. Here's why some people might consider it one of the best:
1 Authentic Thai Flavors: The restaurant typically focuses on traditional Thai recipes, with a variety of dishes that feature the vibrant, bold flavors of Thailand—spicy, sour, sweet, and salty—all balanced beautifully.
2 Fresh Ingredients: Many fans of Red Elephant emphasize the freshness of the ingredients used, especially in dishes like Thai curry, pad Thai, and stir-fries. Fresh herbs, spices, and vegetables elevate the flavors.
3 Diverse Menu Options: Red Elephant often offers a wide range of choices for different tastes and dietary preferences, including vegetarian, gluten-free, and meat-lovers' options. This diversity allows it to cater to a broad audience.
4 Consistent Quality: One of the hallmarks of great restaurants is consistency, and many regular patrons return to Red Elephant because the quality of food and service is reliable every time.
5 Great Atmosphere: Many locations focus on creating a warm, inviting atmosphere that complements the experience of dining in Thailand, making it more than just a meal but a cultural experience.
If these elements align with your tastes, Red Elephant could definitely feel like the "best" restaurant for Thai cuisine. Of course, the "best" restaurant is subjective and depends on personal preferences, but it’s certainly a favorite for many.

Every part of our experience at La Vie was top notch. The open restaurant with a beautiful view of the ocean and cool breezes was a lovely place to celebrate our anniversary. The service was stellar, as expected at a restaurant of this caliber. They were able to accommodate my gluten free needs and were very knowledgeable about each item. Most of the seafood price fix was already gluten free, but they were willing to make other substitutions if I desired. (Not need though.)
Our 5 course price fix was simply divine. Each bite had complex and robust flavors, and the presentation was always beautiful. The perfect amount of food to be satisfied but not overly stuffed. We loved the unique drinks from the bar too.
We'll definitely be back next time we're in town! Highly recommend.

Outer space good. Mind blown. So much flavor and umami packed into small bites with a wide variety of ethnic flavors. My partner and I were over the moon. I enjoyed everything and the experience as a whole. We got to chat with Ana preparing all different dishes and enjoyed her expert decorum and conversation skills. Each item was explained and questions answered. Great date dinner. We will be back! FYI, can be gluten free on request and they exclusively come up with different dishes for gluten free, so there's a $30 upcharge.
Standouts for me were Dan Dan tortellini, crystal crostini, kofte, kalo senbei, smoke of gravy pie filling, katsu mushroom sando, tacos, banana dessert and batter of the waffle dog. The soft scramble just egg on the sando was fluffy and a little wet, just the way I like it. Dan Dan flavors were intense and the schezuan peppers at the end had the perfect mouth tingle. Crystal crostini crunch was fun and garlic is my weakness. The taco sauces...bagna caude and strawberry something were so flavorful! Kofte had a thin, hot crisp layer with a hefty filling that I appreciated. Everything was yummy, really.
Being picky, there were some inedible parts of the ulu in the pie, my partner and I wanted the pie crust as a slab like in old pictures vs the flower cut out which is pretty but not enough crust, the pie crust itself was hard to bite through. Waffle dog filling was mostly cheese that had melted, so upon biting, it looked empty (but tasted delicious).
I'd like to be able to sit down at a table and order full sized portions of my favorites. A bowl of tortellini? Yes, please. A full steamer of xia long bao? Right here!
Location! Entrance is facing 11th Ave across from the basketball court of the local park! The restaurant is skinny like the night bus squeezing between two cars... Look towards the far left of the one story building for the AV Restaurant sign next to the dumpster (unfortunate). This is not part of the complex of restaurants accessible from the big paid parking lot. Actually you can park right in front of the restaurant for FREE. Go up 11th Ave from waialae, it's a right turn after the park/basketball court.
