Holy smokes, Batman!
As someone who often struggles to find great food options (especially gluten-free), Irregardless blew me away.
Our waitress—whose name I regretfully forgot, and it’s not on my receipt—was phenomenal. I told her I was torn between a few choices, and she confidently recommended the Hot Fried Chicken Sandwich (GF). Honestly? One of the best sandwiches I’ve had in over 12 years. Crispy, flavorful, and totally worth the hype.
🌱 They accommodate a ton of dietary restrictions.
🍽️ Portion sizes? Generous.
🌿 Food? Incredibly fresh and delicious.
🏡 Location? Adorable.
🚗 Parking? A bit tricky, but it’s the only “meh” part.
🪑 Inside? Cozy, charming, and quiet enough to actually enjoy a conversation.
If you’re in Raleigh and want something amazing, run—don’t walk—to Irregardless.
Their head chef is actually celiac, so very knowledgeable! The food is delicious and the atmosphere here is unmatched. As long as you share your allergies, they are very accommodating and knowledgeable in how to keep you safe!
We had reservations so we were seated quickly. We each had a drink which was wonderful. Our server was kind, but we were given takeout boxes for our entrees and the check upon receiving our food without time to enjoy our meal. The gluten free options are limited, and the pasta was a bit of a let down.
This was my first visit to Bad Daddy's. I have Celiac disease, so gluten free options are extremely important to me, and it's a real treat for me to have a proper burger-in-a-bun rather than a lettuce wrap, even if it is a GF bun (they tend to fall apart without gluten to hold them together; no fault of the restaurant). My burger was delicious; I'll definitely come back when I need a burger fix. However, my review is mixed because I found the ambience lacking - the music was loud and of what I considered to be an obnoxious selection (personal taste, I know, but hey, it's my review). Also my menu was dirty, which was a real turn-off. A few customer-focused tweaks and it could be a five-star experience for me, but currently it's not.
Gluten free fryer, gluten free buns or lettuce option. Variety of GF sauces and toppings. Knowledgeable staff and protocols - have always loved it here and so excited I can keep coming post Celiac diagnosis!
Nice restaurant, lackluster meats. Pork was dry and tastes of liquid smoke. Ribs were slathered in sauce. Got a combo with 2 tiny slices of brisket that were dry despite being dunked in sauce. Gluten free items are labeled - but there is fryer cross contamination for potato skins and wings.
Servers are nice, vibe is good, crowd is hopping. Food? Not worth it.
Hands down one of the best gluten free buns! Anytime I’m craving a burger, this is where we go. Most of the time when I ask for the gluten free bun they ask immediately if it’s an allergy before I can even say it. I’m celiac but saying it’s an allergy is usually easier. They do NOT have a dedicated fryer so stay away from the fries and tater tots unfortunately.
Vegan, lactose free, and gluten-free menu: ask for it
Overall, above average; could use some improvement ( seating is a bit tight ( we can hear the full conversation sometimes) )
Rebeca
Good food, but there's no gluten-free bread anymore. We basically went as a family to eat breakfast with gluten-free bread, and they don't serve it anymore. 🥲
A party of four went right before Christmas. Nice selection of gluten-free options for those who need to be careful. Marked on menu and server was knowledgeable. Had chips and queso (GF), Brick Oven Salmon (GF) and chicken alfredo. All were delicious. Nice atmosphere.
For over a decade, I have enjoyed my finest celebrations in life with Poole's Dinner. The ambiance is energetic and like a step back in time with the 40s decore. Thank you to the staff for never disappointing, always being kind, and exceeding expectations.
My partner and I headed out to Raleigh to celebrate my new job. An especially trying year sent packing with one exquisite meal.
To start, we had the tuna tartar. The NC tuna was beyond the quality you'd expect at a sushi bar. The tuna was perfectly chopped but not to a paste. It was wonderfully dressed with cider aioli and topped with ripe, creamy avocado. The tobiko provided a delightful pop and brininess. The chicken liver pate is my favorite starter Poole's serves. The mustards are fantastic, and the compote is a perfect pairing with the smooth and luscious pate. All this was served with seasoned cucumber slices to accommodate my partners gluten allergy. Again, kindness prevails at Poole's.
Our main was simply the best tenderloin I've ever tasted. I'm not a tenderloin fan, but this blew me away by the endless flavor. Usually lacking in a tenderloin, in my opinion, but not on this occasion. The meat was velvet on the tongue and melted into an amazing bite with the garlic and spicy carrot top chimmichurri that it was paired with. Served with brown butter carrots, fingerling potatoes, crunchy spiced pine nuts, and finished with a bed of tangy whipped feta. The final exquisite touch was a perfectly salty and savory sauce.
My partner had the triple smoked au jus roasted chicken. She refuses to get anything else and has said it is her final meal request. LoL the chicken was paired with the lightest, creamiest whipped potatoes. Worth another mention is the amazingly deep and rich au jus.
For our "Nexts" we had to order the house specialty, Mac and cheese. As my company couldn't partake due to gluten, the waitress was so kind as to ask for a half portion for myself. Again, kindness. We also enjoyed the cauliflower with oyster mushrooms, sherry, and cream. Surprisingly, this side was one of the stars of the show, and I am definitely making this side for the holidays. A new tradition begins.
We didn't have room for dessert this go-a-round, but the creme de pot is always a win no matter the variation, and the chefs cobblers are devine. I so desired the banana and chocolate pie, but alas, my waistline pleaded to stop.
Please treat yourself if you are in town, or celebrating, or just want to experience amazingly crafted food. They are expanding this week, which is great news for us faithful. More seats for us all to enjoy Ashley Christensen's creative southern cooking, served by talented and helpful staff. Thank you, Poole's dinner, for once again, making a special night more memorable and with... kindness.
Got their unique pork burger with the candied bacon and blueberry ketchup on a gluten free bun. It was absolute perfection and a great size. Gf bun was also good. Not the Udi brand that falls apart. Gf crème brûlée Cheesecake was also good. Thank you!
Overall, good breakfast spot, with nice selection and good staff.
BUT, if pancakes are your thing for breakfast, go somewhere else. The pancakes are tougher than a thick leather belt. I imagine they stir the batter with every single order that goes on the griddle so, by 9am, its just a mass of rubbery gluten.
Bring sharp teeth and a steak knife for the pancakes.
Awesome time! Music bingo is so fun and the food was great!! They even had gluten free buns! Molly is a wonderful server. Can’t recommend this place enough!
If you are looking for somewhere classy and innovative then look no further! Iris, dear restaurant attached to the North Carolina museum of art, is a beautiful atmosphere with swirling a sculpture on the walls and beautiful natural light. It does not feel overcrowded although there is enough space for a party of 16. All of the servers are very professional and helpful by guiding you on the menu. They have lots of options for people who are on special diet's, like folks who do not eat gluten or R vegan. It's nice to have an option after walking around the grounds or the museum itself to feed yourself or your family. The food is absolutely delicious and obviously crafted by someone with culinary Expertise. There are so many of flavors that go into each dish and they are plated beautiful I like the plates are pieces of art themselves. It is a great place to go for brunch on Saturday and Sunday, but I highly suggest you call and make a reservation or hold a table because it can get very busy. I give this place 5 stars and highly suggest it to anyone who is intrested and a lovely dining experience. The high ceilings really give the place an air of luxury and contribute to the culture that you might find in the Room. The options for drinks are wonderful and your server well pair them with your dish with ease. I enjoy that they have fresh juices and coffee options as well. Everything is so nice looking and a semi formal it is a great place to go on a date as well!
Great vegan options! And the gluten free options really help add to the diversity and inclusivity. Great food and great service. Place was clean and very friendly. Beyond sausage add-on could be higher quantity for the extra cost though.
The front of house staff were very friendly but unfortunately there were hardly any gluten free options. The fryer (and all apps except one) were cross contaminated, and few entrees were exclusively gluten free even with modifications. Ended up with a burger (which was delicious), but no fries etc.
Always awesome!
Food quality is excellent
Service is excellent
Alot of great options on the menu to choose from. They definitely focus more on the ingredients and quality. Much better choice than other local places by far!
Portion sizes are just right but bring your appetite and try a few things..you can always bring it home.
Atmosphere is excellent. Nicely done inside. Well lit, clean, updated and they offer various style seating sections and Tvs if needed to watch something.
It's usually crowded but they will do their best to get you seated.
Has a bar, many drink options so no worries there! I am sure you will find what you need!
Outside seating; they also have an outside section that is definitely worth choosing. Very nice ambiance and set up..heaters all over if it's cold but on a nice night it's worth it
Price: better quality food, excellent cooking and worth the price.
Definitely frequent Wakefield Tavern. One of the best out there.
Gluten free options are one of the best out there.
Pasta, pizzas are delicious.
Overall; Head over and enjoy...certainly worth it!
This restaurant is exceptional. My husband loves the biscuits and apple butter. I can't eat them since I have a gluten allergy. I love the vegan collard greens and moon dusted potatoes. The wait was long on Saturday, but well worth it. Our waitress was superb also. Can't wait to go back again!
If you are celiac, do NOT eat here. Sickest I’ve ever been. I was told that my meal was gluten free, but there is no way. After getting sick, I researched and saw that many other people have gotten sick here too. Food isn’t even that good.
Delicious food, great service, beautiful interior, and fun people-watching. My friend and I met here on a Thursday night around 6ish for dinner. The restaurant was steady, but not crowded. I immediately grabbed a booth by the gigantic windows so I could watch all the downtown happenings--mostly dog owners and young professionals. The interior of the diner is beautiful and welcoming! My friend and I are vegetarian and gluten-free/dairy free and the menu is extensive enough that both of us had great options. Of course, I had to get the housemade chips because my experience at the sister diners--the Shiny Diner and Peak City Diner--has made me slightly addicted to them; and I ordered the hamburger and eggs minus the bread. The eggs were cooked to perfection. My friend enjoyed her black bean burger too. The servers, there were two at that time, were attentive and worked together well to make sure our drinks were topped off and food was delivered quickly. I left spending just less than what I would have paid for the two of us at Chick-fil-A. Overall, it was a great experience and I look forward to my next meal there.
We had family in town visiting and decided made reservations for brunch at this place. I cannot regret it enough. My husband and I both are gluten free. When we placed our orders we specifically asked for gluten free items. I myself repeated it 2 more times. My husband ordered his order of GLUTEN FREE French toast with no bananas. Our waitress even asked if wanted the powdered sugar and maple syrup. He said yes and repeated “gluten free French toast, no bananas”.
Everyone else in our party proceed to place their orders. The service was EXTREMELY slow to begin with. When the orders finally came, the food was cold. We didn’t complain because it had taken so long to begin with. The girl who placed my order down on the table had an AirPod in her ear. When she sat it down in front of me I asked her if it was gluten free. She didn’t respond. She kept giving everyone else their order. I asked her again , still no response. I tried to get her attention and either she really could not hear because of the AirPod that should not have been in her ear to begin with or she was ignoring me.
Several other people in my party tried to get her attention to confirm for me until one just tapped her. I asked her again was it gluten free. She said “yeah” without even giving it a second thought or looking to make sure. I asked her how she could tell. She said “it’s on the bottom of the plate”. I assumed it was something the staff knew because all of the plates looked the same to us. I took one fork of the biscuit and immediately knew it wasn’t gluten free.
Meanwhile, our waitress still hadn’t come back to make sure our orders were good or even received. So I just waited while everyone else in my party picked over their food. My husband began to eat his “gluten free” French toast during that time. Approximately 4-5 minutes later our waitress finally walks over. I asked her was my order gluten free. She looks and then frowns and says no. I didn’t know you wanted gluten free. Mind you I stressed it to her several times. Then I asked her was my husband’s French toast gluten free. She again has the same “puzzled” look and says “no, I didn’t know he wanted gluten free also”. Again we had a whole conversation with her prior to even placing our orders. She takes both orders back to redo them. She didn’t ask if we’d be okay or anything and gave us a very weak if any at all apology.
Again I sat and waited. During this time, everyone else has finished their cold food, even my husband who luckily for him had ordered something else along with the side of French toast. When my order finally did come, everyone was done and ready to go. Again, there was no apology for the misunderstandings. Guess what??? The new order was cold as well. Fast forward to now, both my husband and I have had negative reactions to the gluten and are driving home to take something for our headaches and upset stomachs. Thankfully, we wont require any medical trips behind their actions.
On top of it all, the bill was still charged for EVERYTHING. We will NEVER ever go back to Parkside and we will be sure to spread the word to everyone we know. The service, food, and staff attentiveness to customers and their dietary needs is TERRIBLE! They say never say never, but we have all concluded that we will never go back to this establishment.
