I love the food at Vertical Diner. Everything is vegan and there are many clearly labeled gluten free options. Once in a while the service is “off,” but I’ve been going here for years and it is one of my favorite places to eat in SLC.
Great food, lots of gluten-free, veg, and vegan options. If I could give 4 1/2 for service, I would. Just took a minute to get our order taken, but the food came out quick.
this place is NOT dedicated gluten free. I don't know what the alleged 'kitchen manager' is think by verifying this but it is not true. I reported to atly, but for anyone unaware please do not go here under the impression it's dedicated
First time at Cubby’s, and they’re missing the boat. Tacos should always have a corn tortilla option, especially for those who eat gluten free. I had to pick the tri-tip and toppings off the tacos, which I will say were tasty, but would have been much better in a corn tortilla. And would have been much more filling. Suggestion from a Texan, add corn tortillas please.
On a side note, the rosemary fries and fry sauce were good. And my hubby enjoyed the Gypsy burger quite a bit.
Also, the service was excellent.
And why is it 65 degrees in here? We had to get hoodies from the car.

I might be a bit biased, but I love the Bayou! We’ve consistently received good service, and both the food and drinks are delicious. They offer gluten-free options on their menu, and during our last visit, our server was incredibly helpful in finding me something safe to eat. It’s one of my favorite spots for a tasty meal.

Court was so helpful in finding me multiple options to eat. I have food, allergies, to gluten, dairy, and soy. They were very accommodating and the food was delicious.
They label food as gluten free however some options are fried in the same oil as bread and is therefore contaminated with gluten. Disappointed that such a health conscious restaurant is not able to accurately label their food and protect those with celiac disease. Will give 5 stars when they have a gluten free fryer or update their menu labels.
Every time I visit SLC, I make it a point to go to White Horse because the food, cocktails, servers, and vibe are all on point. This most recent visit, I had the burger without a bun to make it gluten-free. The burger was flavorful and cooked perfectly. The simple arugula side salad and the pickles are my favorite additions to any meal there. Get an extra side of pickles if you typically love pickles. You won't be disappointed. I had two cocktails: Beneath the Pines (gin-based, herby, bright) and Tainted Love (vodka-based with citrus, cucumber, and floral) that I would absolutely order again. Both were so refreshing and unique and NOT sugary sweet. Get to the White Horse and spend time to savor everything.
I was pretty disappointed in the food. I ordered a Gluten Free Reuben and my boyfriend ordered a regular Reuben, and we both agreed they could have been cooked longer. Seeing all the photos online of tasty grilled sandwiches made me realize this was probably an off day, but the food wasn't cheap. My cheese wasn't even melted, the sandwich was cool to the touch with thick dry bread. The pastrami was rubbery and hard to chew on both our sandwiches. We paid about $40 today for our two meals, if someone could reach out to refund our meals I'll provide proof of purchase.
The place was a clean, beautiful reminder of old buildings from the 1800's. The food was delicious & I appreciated the "gluten-free" options. I expected to be waited on by a person, not to have a buffet & having to do my own busing. Other than that minor inconvenience, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. (& the food! )
We went for an anniversary. It’s been on my list for years. I’m so upset we hadn’t gone before because everything was incredible. The service was top notch. For the type of food I expected to spend double what we did. So I am excited to return for more special events. However, I wish I could have a vat of the glaze on the lamb.. so SO good. My husband is gluten free due to celiacs and finally he got to have a great meal and not have to compromise great flavor
My husband ordered the Hot Chopped Cheese Sandwich and LOVED it. Left no crumbs, no notes. ❤️
I ordered the Kimchi Grilled Cheese with Gluten free bread. It was actually pretty good, the Kimchi on grilled cheese is a nice idea. My only issue is that the cheese tasted like Kraft Single American Cheese which has a very weird taste to it. Would be a 10/10 with a better cheese.
The food and atmosphere is great! Good amount of gluten free options. Lots of wine.
HIGHLY recommend the Sesame Ahi Steak — this may be the best entree on the menu!! I dream about this meal and have been back to have it again. It’s excellent, cannot stress this enough.
Dessert is also good! Sorbet/ice cream options along with their 3 bigger desserts right now. I have had their lemon dessert (pictured) and their jalapeño margarita sorbet (hot!). The lemongrass crème brûlée is also tasty. Can’t go wrong with a dessert, but enough to split with someone.
Outdoor patio area with live music on some Saturdays!
I use to visit HSL often but over time it has become more disappointing. I ordered red wine and it was cold. The burger was raw and made my partner sick. The amazing ham for it no longer is the same. The gluten free options are no longer on the menu and the food overall took a nose dive. Love the people there and atmosphere but it’s just not as good anymore. And it has overpriced wines. Usually a great selection but $17 for a glass? No thanks.
Great service, food, and experience. Had group of 16 that included whole-food vegan, celiac, and carnivore. Table X took care of everyone and made it delicious and unique for each individual.
Enjoyed the breakfast buffet.
Food looks and tastes well. Had a good selection of breakfast items including gluten free pastries.
Service from the wait staff was good.
The only negative: The staff can do a better job of guiding the customers on where and how to use the buffet....there were many people not knowing where to start and etiquette was lacking...Not the fault of the staff the customers does not know how to use a buffet, but they could offer some guidance.
Good place, I would go back.

Portion sizes are obviously ridiculous, but the food is good. All gluten free options are marked up on the giant menu. We sat outside in the shade, but on a hot day the air conditioning inside can be very welcome. One of the few restaurants open within the mall on a Sunday.
Excellent burger. No gluten-free buns available but they were able to serve my burger up on some lettuce. They use grass fed beef which tasted great. The music inside was way WAY too loud but it was really nice weather outside and they had a nice place to sit out on the street side patio. Enjoyed my food and my visit.
I’d wanted to try this place fora while, after driving by one night. I was seated pretty quickly, but at a precarious bar stool in a short dress, balancing my purse. After that, I felt ignored. After some time I asked if I could move to an table. I had to wait about 5 minutes for them to wipe it, but finally got seated, and after a while I finally ordered.
My cocktail was okay, but I had ordered their steak sandwich on gluten free bread which was a serious let down. The bread texture was like an old bagel bite, I could find no indication of chimichurri sauce, pickled shallots, or tomato jam. It was mediocre meat, arugula, and mayonnaise. The size was more like a slider, (see pic for size reference against fork tines ). The fries were decent skin on fries, but couldn’t compensate for the sandwich or the unbelievably slow service. I don’t know what was going on because the cooks appeared bored half the time, but the servers were unable to manage.
To their credit they did respond to the survey i completed from the QR code while I waited. They said they’re getting new bar stools and appreciate the bum feedback and invited me to try them again. Still, I don’t plan to.
We ordered a kids macaroni and cheese, vegetable enchiladas, and trout. All were delicious and good sized portions for the price. Gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options are all marked on the menu. They have very helpful staff if you have any questions!
