They cannot do the cheese curds gluten free, but pretty much all the other fried food they can.. These gluten free onion rings were so delicious. Staff was friendly attentive. I sat in the bar on a Saturday and they were on top of it. If ever back in Madison I'd go back!
Food was delicious, service was quick, and staff were kind. Broad menu of options with large vegan sections. Restaurant can make dishes that are gluten sensitive (though not Celiac safe). Similarly, they are very accommodating for other allergies, and can customize meals easily.
First time eating here and all of the food was delicious! I also have a gluten allergy and they took extra precautions to ensure I had a safe meal. Will be eating here again!
Both times I've been there, they've had great food, great service, and a fun atmosphere. Gluten-free buns are always available, and they have a designated fryer to avoid cross contamination.
Cute place with a clearly labeled menu for gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan. Many options for all of them. The staff is kind, knowledgeable, and patient with questions about food allergies. I felt very safe eating here with celiac disease and even enjoyed chilaquiles for the first time in 20 years! It was full of flavor and freshness! Fresh squeezed orange juice too! My favorite breakfast I’ve gotten probably ever!
Great service from host and server, very happy that they had a separate gluten-free menu. Eggs benedict with gf bread was delicious, maybe a little too cheesy but still great
Really good burgers with attentive staff. Rodrigo helped me with my gluten free allergy. Only downside it's a bit pricey for hamburgers, but still worth it, especially because there aren't many places with gluten free burgers.
Staff also speaks Spanish so if you don't know English they can help you
This is what a burger joint should be! Friendly staff, quick service, and truly delicious burgers for a reasonable price. Found my new go-to place! (Had a gluten-free bun and sweet potato fries were excellent.)
My girlfriend has a gluten intolerance allergy but was curious to try a concrete for the first time, knowing there was a risk of cross contamination but being willing to risk it. We told the drive-through opperator that she had a gluten allergy, and they checked the ingredients for us and marked the order on the sign with a gluten (wheat) allergy flag. When we pulled up to the window, the nicest employee gave us a number and warned us that it would be a few minutes because... they cleaned the blenders, the tools to mix and scoop, and even the extruder. This level of service at a fast food restaurant is unparalleled even compared to Chick-fil-A! We will be visiting other locations in the future with hopes of equal service!
Happy our experience at Merchant was as wonderful as usual. We had friends from out of town visiting and wanted to show off Madison's food scene. Cocktails were top notch as was the wine I chose with my meal. I ordered the squash risotto which was excellent, even better than expected. Our table of 8 enjoyed the cheese curds and everyone loved their entrees, including the whitefish, chorizo verde and fried chicken sandwich. The desserts were delicious and our gluten and dairy intolerant guest was thrilled with the chocolate brownie dessert, as was the rest of the table. A great success all around.

Disappointed in the gluten free options. I ordered my meal gluten free and received what looked like white bread. $2 extra for toast? Pretty expensive meal for absolutely nothing.
.
My friends’ food looked good, though.
Culver's is always delicious. It's also great that they treat Gluten-Free food handling so well. My wife has Celiac disease and can safely eat a burger on a gluten free bun.
Note: The fries are generally cooked in a shared fryer and are therefore not suitable for those who have Celiac Disease.
Steenbock's catered our wedding in August of 2024. They did an incredible job with the appetizers, dinner, and late night food. They were very accommodating and flexible with the menu - we were able to pair custom sides with one of the entrees without any trouble at all, to make the food just what we wanted. They were able to accommodate a last minute (2 days before the wedding!!) switch of an entree to gluten free. Our meeting with Diana, the event manager, before the wedding was really helpful to nail down all of the details she needed for the night. The servers during the night were very professional. In addition, the food was delicious. People raved about it. Steenbock's provided plates and silverware for the dessert table even though they weren’t providing the desserts. Diana was helpful throughout the planning process answering questions promptly via e-mail about name card stickers, timeline, etc. We were really pleased with Steenbock's and thought they did an exceptional job.
This establishment is NOT gluten free. They only have buns. Use the same griddle, frier and a lot of cross contamination. If you require gluten free food, avoid this place and the pain
Always an amazing culinary experience. I love the chef tasting menu with the wine pairing. Chef Dan is so creative with food combinations and the presentation is extraordinary. And their Gluten Free accomodations are on par with the rest of the offerings.
The latest dessert, the slow baked peaches was mind blowing.
The tasting menu is the way to go. They even had one ready to go that was gluten free. 5 courses plus a few additional tastes the chef selected to highlight in-season produce. The most upscale farm to table experience I've ever had.
We went to the restaurant on Cottage Grove road, I explained I have to eat gluten free. Since it was our first time there he let us sample the different meats. All were delicious. I ordered the 3 tacos with sides.
The portions were large, they were delicious and I had no issues from eating there.
2nd time here and great service again. Server (named Claire) was knowledgeable about allergens and was able to share that almost have the menu was gluten free (no pasta substitute). The steak may be the best I’ve had in my life! Only wish parking was clearer- we found after that you can park in the parking garage and they will redeem parking at the host stand
First time eating here because I'm on this side of town helping a friend with something today. I had to go back twice to get the food corrected ( first time they forgot the shake, second my gluten free burger had a regular bun!) and then I get back to the garage sale and even after I asked them to double check it before I left it was still wrong. At this point I just asked for my money back or a gift card to make up for the multiple trips. They are nice enough to do that for me when I leave after the garage sale but two trips back?
