Ordered a mango-passionfruit-chocolate cake for my partner's birthday. I am lactose intolerant which limits my bakery options but my goodness was this vegan cake an absolute delight. We enjoyed it a lot. It was very fresh, refreshing and the taste of the cake was phenomenal. The unique ingredients and their taste in combination surprised us. Definitely recommended for people who enjoy vegan bakery treats or people with gluten/lactose allergies
Very good service, although we arrived almost an hour before closing time, as they were already clearing up and didn't have all the tables available.
The burger was okay, nothing special, but it tasted good.
They do have a gluten-free option.
We went to this place based on the FindMeGF app as a safe place for people with celiac disease. When we ordered gluten-free beers, they brought us regular beer with gluten twice.
We sent them back, and the waiter finally told us there was no more gluten-free beer and that we should just have that one. We explained to him that celiac disease isn't a fad, but rather a health issue with many serious medical implications. He said, "Well, we always serve regular beer when people order gluten-free, and no one ever complains"
So sad
I do not recommend this place for people with gluten intolerance or coeliac disease.
Fantastic restaurant. Highly recommended. It’s great to find a place that isn’t a tourist trap.
They cater amazingly well for gluten free with a whole range of available dishes. Gluten free beer too (Super 8 Export). Recommend the moussaka. Staff are absolutely superb. Will be back soon!
Very tasty gluten free pancakes with chocolate, you had to order with a QR code, which is easy, but I also miss the personal service. I didn't get sick from the food, luckily, and it was very tasty. A bit pricey though.
GLUTEN FREE waffles SUITABLE for Celiacs.
They have quite a variety of gluten-free toppings (including gluten-free Belgian cookies).
They are expensive for the quantity and quality of the waffles but they are a very good format to eat while visiting the city.
Definitely recommended when you visit Ghent or want a quick bite to eat.
Reservations are required.
A big plus is the preparation of several gluten-free meals. I tried the gluten-free stew myself. Delicious and can tell you that it is gluten-free.
Enjoy!!
Good location, right in the center, and the interior is nice. That's the only positive thing about our visit to Alice. I can confirm what I read - afterwards - in other reviews: the owner was anything but friendly, as if we were not welcome. Moreover, we had to wait a really long time before our order was taken. I even went to the counter to place my order, but was then (un)friendlyly directed back to my seat. When we wanted to order something extra afterwards - we were not yet satisfied - that was no longer possible because it was already after 12 o'clock and the people for lunch were already waiting in the hallway. It was made clear to us that we really had to leave when the owner came to clear the table while we were still eating. Someone from the group has taken her pistol outside. Finally, I would like to say that I chose this address because it was recommended several times online as a place with gluten- and lactose-free alternatives. Badass. Actually, nothing was lactose-free, except for the scrambled eggs that were prepared 'specially for me' without milk. Gluten-free meant two sponge rolls for which a supplement of one euro was charged. See you never again.
Perfect. They have good gluten free pizza and they are super friendly and efficient. I’ve already ordered a lot of pizzas here and it was always a pleasure.
For glutenfree people it is not recommended to eat here. My experience at the Pizza hut in Gent was very bad. There was only a group of young people (15 years old) working there at the moment. They probably did not know about how glutenfree works. Luckily I could look in the kitchen and see that they cut te gluten-free pizza with the same knife as all the gluten pizzas. They did make a new pizza, I cut it myself. The pizza was square and only half covered with saus and cheese, not delicious. It is known that in places like this there is a high change of cross contamination, but the staff was not carefull at all and not knowledgeable about glutenfree. The overall feeling of this place felt very chaotic. It was not busy during our visit so staff was talking in a group at the table next to us about their free time, not professional. It was also dirty inside the place. I will not visit here again.
We talked to the manager and provided him with some tips for in the future. Because just a few small improvements can make this place a lot more attractive.
Nice but small tent. The tables are close together and it was extremely busy.
But the hot chocolate was delicious. And what was absolutely fantastic was that I could order a gluten-free pancake. And this one was delicious.
Thank you
We went away the first time, as it was late and they had run out of gluten-free cakes, so it was a good idea to go early. On our second visit, we had a Gluten Free Cheesecake and I had a raspberry tart. Both are very delicious, the staff is friendly and the service is quick, nice outdoor seating area, but limited. Tea was disappointing as the water was not hot enough, coffee was decent, but this place is busy, and is not cheap. Overall we were happy with our visit.
Very tasty meal! The only disadvantage is that you cannot make a reservation, but the staff does their best to make everything go as smoothly as possible! Lots of vegetarian options and even vegan and gluten-free.
We often come from Bruges to Ghent to eat in Beiruti, their food and service are amazing! They also have enough lactose-free and gluten-free options, which for us is a big plus.
They have a gluten-free bread option as well as a vegetarian burger section.
Very rich and very friendly staff.
My friends also had a very comfortable dinner of the hamburger, potatoes and chicken fingers. All very rich.
Delicious food. An authentic restaurant and many attributes of Indian culture can be seen in the restaurant, which is very nice and creates the atmosphere! The food was delicious and the service was great! Vegan & lactose free are also taken into account here, unfortunately there is less choice for gluten free. The masala chai is highly recommended and is full of flavor! I recommend making a reservation here before visiting as it was quite busy.
Don't let this little gem fool you! We came in on Friday night, and the service was exceptional. We had a member of our party with gluten allergies, and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate.
Sushi was great by the way! Highly recommend a sushi boat!!
The food was ok, but the service absolutely not. The 2 employees (probably both young students) were unfortunately completely focused/overwhelmed by the delivery orders... They were unfriendly and seemed to have no time/eye for an 'in person' order. When asking for information about allergens (gluten) I was first ignored for 10 minutes by one employee (I kindly asked for help x3), then I got clearly wrong information from the other student (at a 4th attempt which was not continued by her in taking our order), after which I only got an allergen card after asking a 5th time. My girlfriend and I were the only 'in person' customers at that moment on a late Sunday afternoon, and at this seemingly quiet moment unpleasantly surprised by the bad 'between the soup and potatoes' service. You would expect that at least 1 employee would give priority to the customers in the store, even though they are overwhelmed by delivery orders & drivers. If my girlfriend didn't necessarily want to eat spring rolls, we would definitely have gone somewhere else. I hate to leave bad reviews, but this was a really sub-par experience.
We went with our little one who has celiac disease and despite indicating it when placing the order, they brought him some pancakes that, although they were very good, had cookies with gluten inside. Unfortunately we couldn't notice until he had already eaten several bites.
I don't like to give bad reviews but it was a very serious and unpleasant situation since as parents we try to protect the little one from cross contamination, not to mention eating gluten-containing cookies directly.
The owner approached us very embarrassed and apologized, she didn't even charge us the bill. I feel sorry for her as she seemed very distressed by her cook's mistake.
They were all very nice and accommodating! Although the food can be modified to be gluten free (normal bread substituted buy non-gluten bread, etc), I am not sure about cross-contamination or how careful about it they are.
Apart from that, the food and service were top notch!
Nice place, nice views and very good food. For only €10 you get a large soup, drink, bread and fruit. Vegetarian and gluten-free food. Very kind attention.
Regular dinner occasion in Ghent! The stew with fries is an absolute must. The menu uses symbols to indicate what is vegetarian, gluten-free, etc. Also tasty non-alcoholic alternatives!
Had lunch with nice Rosé wine. Friendly and cozy atmosphere. Our compliments to the chef: he made a "next level" vol au vent and provided tasty gluten-free options without any problems. A treat!
Thank you Jan.
Very good food, super filling! Nice ambient. There's usually a queue on the outside, it takes about 30 to 40 min. It is worth the wait.
They have gluten free options.
The juice portion is a bit small for the price but they taste very nice.
Fantastic place, i love it. I had the Irish Ribeye steak, glutenfree and the mousse for desert. There was a little problemen with the mousse cos they put Cookies instellingen in, but my husband tackeled that one.
Recently visited Plus+ for a quick lunch. Located in the center of the city, the restaurant offers a menu that caters to gluten free, vegan, and vegetarian diets.
I ordered the Sweet Potato Chili which was a perfect blend of sweet and spicy. It’s a dish that I would recommend to anyone seeking a hearty yet healthy option. My friends, who are locals, were equally impressed. The Roasted Leeks in the Go Green dish were cooked well, offering a smoky and earthy flavor that complemented the freshness of the greens. Another highlight was the Hummus Lovers dish - it was a creamy, rich, and flavorful treat that truly lived up to its name.
The ambiance of “Plus” is warm and welcoming, making it an ideal spot for both travelers and locals alike. Overall, Plus+ is a gem in Ghent’s culinary scene.
Service was slow, we were with a large group and half of us had already ordered through qr. The waiter came to us and told us that we could only order 4 different dishes and had to change some orders because of this. On the site I was able to choose for bagguette instead of the regular bread but when the waiter listed our order, at first, they told me that it is not possible.. but this time he made an exception for me. They were also out of ingredients of items which were already ordered and had to change some things because of that. The food overall was very tasty though, our gluten intollerant friend got gluten free bread when asked.
Very pleasant café with a very extensive drinks menu. You will find 50+ beers on tap! There is also a gluten-free beer available. It is pleasant to have a leisurely drink and catch up... The interior is that of a brown pub. The sanitary facilities were clean. It was great fun sitting there, again and again. I will definitely go there again!
