A very cool atmosphere to dine in. The menu options were great. My wife was accommodated well for her gluten allergy, as the menu was detailed and labeled. The food was excellent and came out at a reasonable time.
Absolutely stellar!
Went here for the first time on a Friday night. Ate at the bar and our server, Jess, was so warm and helpful. I’m celiac and was thrilled to see they have a dedicated gluten free menu.
We got the ratatouille, Peruvian chicken, salad, and my non-GF partner got the gnocchi. We were impressed with the freshness and flavor of the produce, the tenderness of the chicken, everything down to the flavor and brightness of the salad dressing. The gnocchi was tender and pillowy. Overall the dishes were interesting, flavorful, and had great texture variation.
The environment was clean, softly lit, and a pleasant volume. We could chat easily, and no loud music.
Prices are very fair and we were surprised our bill was as low as it was. Fantastic value.
Really outstanding, and we’ll be back! What a gem of a place, thank you!
My family and I recently celebrated my June birthday at Mellow Mushroom in Wake Forest. The entire staff was friendly, every person we passed spoke to us, and our server Lilly was an absolute delight. We had wings, cheese pizza, a calzone, and a gluten free Kosmic Karma that were all of exceptional quality. Lilly even surprised me with a (free!) birthday pretzel in the shape of a flower because I mentioned how my father and I love lillies and flowers after she introduced herself. That was incredibly thoughtful and it honestly made my day. My dad wasn't half way through lunch and was making plans to return for his own birthday.. in April.. but I'm willing to bet we make it back to see you guys before then! Thank you Lilly and thank you Mellow Mushroom! ❤️ 🍄 🍕

Tim was my server today, and I received excellent service as well as food recommendations that tasted amazing! I love that they have such great gluten free options as well.
The service was great and it was clean. But the real reason we drove 30min for dinner...the amazing tasting gluten-free and corn free pizza! It is also good value in today's prices. We all had food to bring home. It's larger than the typical GF pizza you find. My husband loves their regular food too!
Just left here and I will be back... been craving firehouse for some time but have had issues with gluten. Found out they have gluten free bread and it was as close to regular bread as I've had so far. The sub was also built perfectly and delicious. Also the staff was very friendly, helpful and quick!
Sharing a review specifically for Sean, the General Manager of the Wake Forest location
I came in during the dinner rush while all employees were juggling online and in-person orders. I have both an allergy to gluten and dairy, and had also made a mistake in my online order. Amidst the chaos of the dinner rush, Sean was calm and collected, and communicated kindly that he would check the status of my sandwich, and personally made the desired change when he saw it hadn’t been made yet. This was while still serving the needs of the customers in line.
He continued to go above and beyond in making sure that I did not experience cross contamination or exposure to allergens, even remaking my sandwich immediately upon realizing that cheese had mistakenly been added.
Throughout the interaction, he was extremely quick and efficient while also providing a customer service experience that never once made my allergies or complicated order feel like an inconvenience. He remained kind, calm in a chaotic environment, and attentive to the needs of employees and customers around him.
The kitchen is dirty. Proper cleaning of dishes is not followed. Sandwiches put on dirty pans to heat up. Brownies are from a box. They claim to have gluten free options but do not use different utensils for this, lots of cross contamination. Use dirty rags to wipe down tables and counters. Never saw employees wash hands.
