⚠️ BEWARE IF YOU HAVE CELIAC DISEASE ⚠️
If you have celiac disease or a serious gluten allergy, please be extremely cautious eating here.
This was my first visit, and unfortunately, my medical needs were completely disregarded. I clearly stated that I needed a gluten-free kolache, but I was still served one made with wheat. When I returned to let them know, the woman who took my order showed no sympathy, offered no apology, and made no effort to acknowledge the seriousness of the situation.
This kind of negligence could lead to serious health consequences, and it’s unacceptable for staff to be so careless and dismissive when it comes to dietary restrictions that involve medical conditions.
Despite the horrible service, I will say the cupcakes were actually very good. But unfortunately, that alone isn’t enough to make up for the risk they put my health in.
Very good food for reasonable prices. The biggest pancakes you've ever seen! Seriously, they're the size of the plate. And they can make them gluten-free. Nice atmosphere & a friendly, competent staff.
I absolutely loved my order of chicken and waffles. My waffle was perfectly cooked. The breading on the chicken tenderloin was perfectly seasoned and not salty. The fresh strawberries were sweet and really added to my enjoyment. I appreciate the organic and gluten-free ingredients. It's definitely a must on my next trip to Waco, TX. Last but not least, the owner was an absolute joy!
Disclaimer: mainly went to make my wife jealous that I got to eat here since I was by myself....however I also wanted to go based on previous reviews.
The food was solid. Good portions (which I normally wouldn't say in most reviews) and great quality food. The strawberry butter was really good and I'm not the type to get excited about butter.
They also have mocktails which is nice. I was here on a hot June day and the Cherry Fizz was a solid choice.
My waitress was also pretty knowledgeable about what food is safe for me (Celiac's) and able to ensure everything was safe.
Overall for the portion and quality of the food everything it was relatively inexpensive considering I had eggs.
It's a lovely little bakery, with very friendly service, but the cookies did not live up to the hype. My friend and I ordered the Oatmeal Chocolate Chip, Gluten Free Salted Caramel Chocolate Chip, and Vanilla Bean Shortbread cookies. They were all horrible. The chocolate chip cookies were grainy and the taste did not represent the name of the cookies at all. The shortbread cookie was so dry, it just crumbled when I broke a piece off. When I put it in my mouth, I couldn't get water fast enough. It was like eating sawdust.
Everything baked from scratch that is offered on a bun or bread, many gluten-free options. Prices are Bonkers for the quality. Friendly staff, and very clean. Quite Charming
It was so great! I was a little discouraged that i wasn’t able to get a waffle but they actually have gluten free waffles! they were so friendly and accommodating. i definitely recommend them!
Absolutely LOVED the care taken to pack my food being gluten free/celiac! Changed their gloves without being asked and handled my food with such care! God the baked potato with brisket and it was so delicious! Thank you for a wonderful meal and service!!!
First of all, shout out to Brynley for being the most amazing service provider! George’s is that place that a lot of restaurants wish they could be. They have a menu with options that can please even the most finicky of diners. Our group have a vegan, a vegetarian, meat lovers, and gluten free musts. This place was able to make each of us happy. We visited the place a few times during our weekend in Waco. It may sound like a college hangout, but it is much more, it’s a family. Food portions are large, prices are affordable and the drinks are huge. As I am the reviewer, I will say that I had amazing veggie fajitas sizzling with mushrooms and warm tortillas. Fantastic! Give George O’s a try the next time you’re traveling through or staying in Waco. good food and fun times!
I had a wonderful visit for breakfast with my family! Their servings are generous, staff very friendly, and menus selection very broad. Some of my family memeber have dietary restrictions and were happy with the gluten free menu options.
If you have any form of dietary restriction do not eat here.
They advertise many gluten free options. I asked about the chips and they told me to Google the manufacturer. No information online. I asked about the menu and was told there are many gluten free options. I asked for specifics and was advised they would go get someone. My friends food came out and the staff told me it'd be best if I just not eat here. So I didn't. Neither should you if you need to know what's in your food. Don't advertise options if there are none.
Brussels to begin... and soooo delicious. Gluten friendly options, very knowledgeable staff, awesome customer service. Everything we ate had the best taste ever. I can go on forever. This place is a hit all the way!
If I rated them 5 stars for each category, why the 4 star rating? Because the healthiest food in Waco doesn't offer decaf coffee. Really?? Food was excellent for gluten free, dairy free, vegan. How disappointing I have to go to Chip and Joanna's for my morning latte.
Very good açaí bowls and smoothies.
It is good for a sit down and relax meal/drink. Service is friendly and prices are good. Lots of vegan and gluten free options.
The first time I went, my coffee order was unfortunately wrong and I didn’t get the extra add on I wanted on my açaí. Regardless, I have come back several times and would recommend!
Had gluten free bread for sandwiches and the kids enjoyed theirs. I had a spud which was dry and had no butter which is a major no-no in the south. Butter makes it better! LOTS of tables were dirty when we came in and they tried to keep up but it didn't work.
I love the atmosphere so much and I'm gluten free also vegan so my server was able to be very knowledgeable and ready for any modifiers I needed to my order. I got the Bourbon peach chops and those came with fingerling potatoes. So so sooo amazing 10/10 would recommend that hunk of a dish anywhere. Victoria my server was so sweet she was awesome and will definitely visit the bar next time I go!!
I recently was diagnosed with Celiac Disease and must have only gluten free foods. I went to the Subway with my husband to get him a sandwich. I had planned on just making something for myself at home. The staff were very kind and let me know that not only did they have gluten free bread, they were willing to use unopened ingredients/toppings from the back to ensure there was no cross-contamination. They washed their hands and changed gloves before handling my food. I am absolutely blown away by how amazing the staff are! They were so understanding and knowledgeable about gluten free needs. Thank you so much!
This Starbucks was quick! I was in and out in under 3 minutes. Granted, it was 6AM, but I was still impressed! I love the new pumpkin chai - it is delicious! And the egg bites are a great gluten free option.
As someone who is both gluten and dairy free, what a pleasant surprise!! Being in the south I know that my allergies can be a challenge, but this restaurant had excellent options!! At first glance there doesn’t seem to be much, but the chorizo and shrimp are cooked in oil, not butter and the only thing I was missing out on was the bread. The potatoes were to die for and it was the best food I ate in Waco. Gina, our server, helped us pick The most fabulous wines to match the food we ate and the live music added to the atmosphere. I feel great after the food I ate and we had the best time. If I’m back in Waco, this is the first place im coming! What a gem!
This place has gone down. I travel to Dr here every few months. The gluten free pancakes used to be awesome now doughy and no flavor. Wait is long, they are searching for help.
