Lots of interesting food but I wouldn't go here if you are coeliac because they can't promise there's been no cross contamination (due to the chicken alternative Seitan).
The strawberry milkshake was the best I've had in a while.
I personally had a great experience here, especially as someone who can’t eat gluten - here’s what you should know.
I personally think everything is very consistent, but the sweet treats are where they really shine.
Bacon and eggs both tasted good and high quality, but very obviously not the most fresh.
The guava pao de queijo really surprised me, its gluten free and filled with a smooth, sweet guava jam on the inside. The taste teleported me back to the same satisfying taste of some guava cookies I ate in Costa Rica.
The WAFFLES. They’re mochi waffles and they’re gluten free, I couldn’t get enough of them.
The matcha was nice and soothing, a perfect way to top off the meal.
The Abbey is the perfect place to grab drinks with friends at midnight, enjoy a tomato bisque with parents at 5pm, and get married!!
lol yes I did get married here a month ago, and prior to that event, my partner and I have been proud patrons for the last 3.5 years. An excellent $12 cocktail menu, delicious cod and steak frites, and a warm, classy but casual atmosphere. Servers are consistently great. They also have an entirely separate gluten-free menu that my gluten-free friends are super happy with.
We also reserved their downstairs for our 30-person wedding! Dean, the manager, was super enjoyable to work with to plan the event, and Rachel and Matt were our bartenders and servers day-of and really made everything so easy. Thank you guys!
If you’re looking for a wedding space that’s inviting, classy, and casual, and you don’t mind getting married in front of an exit sign (we did not mind lol), I strongly recommend. We genuinely feel that the evening was pretty perfect, and our friends are still raving about the tomato bisque and grilled cheese. I could also imagine their downstairs being a great space for any relatively intimate event you’d like to host!
If you’re not planning to get married soon, I’d still suggest stopping by for an enjoyable meal and cleverly named cocktail. We will be soon.
A dedicated gluten free fryer, gluten free beer, this place is amazing! Theres tons of seating and the service was good, I’d go back for the gf fried chicken sandwich.
The best food and the most friendly people! They have great gluten free options as well. My family and I have been coming here for years and it’s always been amazing!
Lone star is my FAVORITE taco place in the north. I've been eating here for over 10 years at this point. The avocado griddled queso taco is a must- have. The house margarita is awesome, too. Never NOT enjoyed my meal or drinks here. Almost everything on the lunch and dinner menus are gluten free. I don't order breakfast here much since the use flour tortillas for those dishes.
This is mostly small plate style, so order a few things. Prices have gone up a bit over the years. Wouldn't call it cheap. I don't blame the place, I blame the economy.
This is a place I bring out of towners to and celebrate things like birthdays at. Food always comes out quickly. It's got a good vibe and NO SPORTS ON MASSIVE SCREENS. I get take out, delivery, and eat in. Can verify that the food quality does not suffer if you aren't eating in. The place can get cramped because I'm not the only one who loves this place.
Parking can be terrible with all the resident only areas on all the side streets.

The atmosphere is nice, but the food is very very average.
The Bangkok noodles and octopus were overcharred, such that none of the other flavor notes came through almost at all.
An extra star for gluten free consciousness. But it was a two star experience in terms of the culinary side. And very pricey for tapas.
If you end up here with a group of friends, it won’t be the worst thing, but don’t waste a date night.
We were very pleased with our visit. Amazing service and the food was great. Much bigger portions than we were expecting, we ordered way too much! My niece is gluten free and the server marked up the menu to show exactly what was gf or could be modified to be gf. Amazing service! We had the ubiquitous kale salad, burrata that comes with sweet potato bread (gf bread also available), grilled broccoli with hummus, and roasted potatoes. Both the cocktails and cocktails were great too!
It is very busy at noon on weekdays, but there is no shortage of seats. It feels like everyone is enjoying their leisure time amidst the noise.
The food is delicious, there is a gluten friendly menu, there is no vegan food (you can adjust it yourself without adding anything), and you can't just make egg white.
Negligent with allergies!!! I explained I have gluten and dairy allergies which was written on the ticket and the person preparing the food was handling bread and immediately touched my food without changing gloves. If I hadnt looked up as it happened I would have gotten severely ill. I pointed it out and explained again that it's a severe allergy and would need them to change gloves and they still tried to give me the same bowl. Definitely not safe for people with actual allergies!!!
Very disappointed to hear they are discontinuing their gluten free bread. I used to love eating here - I work nearby and would almost always choose it for lunch. I would bring it home for dinner for my family too. Truly disappointed to know I am not going back, especially after the less than helpful conversation with the robotic phone answering service and eventual human.
The atmosphere was fantastic, and the food was excellent, except they didn’t have any gluten free bread, which is so surprising these days. Unfortunately our server did not pay any attention to us. We had to ask for water 3 times and finally grabbed another server to get us some. The same thing happened with my coffee. No one checked in after we were served our meal to see if we needed anything else. The restaurant requires a credit card to hold your reservation. That’s fine, but if I am going to put money down to eat at an establishment, the food and service should be top notch.
Such a lovely quaint restaurant. The inside was neat and clean with quiet jazz played in the background. The food was fantastic. Everything was well-seasoned with a nice mix of spices that made each dish pop. There were many gluten-free and vegetarian options too. The host also informed us that the restaurant did not use gmo products and artificial colorings so those with such concerns can rest easy :)
We ended up trying the jeera chicken, basil shrimp, chicken & mushroom takari curry, chicken momos with tikka masala, and garlic naan.
The jeera chicken came with crispy puffed rice which was really fun to eat. The garlic naan was very soft and went well with the tikka masala.
For drinks we tried the strawberry lassi and rupee lager. The lassi was delicious, not too sweet, had great fruity flavor mellowed by dairy with a touch of spice. The rupee was a nice smooth beer that was not very hoppy or bitter and paired well with the food as advertised.
So happy to find another local gem. Looking forward to trying their other dishes and lassi flavors.
This is the best place to enjoy a gluten free brownie. Wow! I have been to a few places in Boston and nothing compares to the brownie I purchased here. It is so big! The taste is amazing, so fudgy! You would never know it’s gluten free! I have also had their chocolate cream pie during the holidays and you can request that to be gluten free. The pie was beyond amazing. I will definitely be making it a part of our holiday celebrations. Anyone who is gluten intolerant knows how hard it is to find a place with excellent gluten free bakery items. I’m happy to say I have found the perfect place. Thank you and thank you for always being so friendly and kind.
We came mostly for the desserts, and they are absolutely delicious. The available ice cream flavors were really creative. We chose the pink peppercorn flavor which was fruity and fun to eat. The pistachio white chocolate cake was the favorite of the composed desserts we had, but the peaches & cream (the gluten-free but not nut-free option) dessert and (dark) chocolate tart were also amazing. If it weren't for the fact that we don't have an unlimited budget and desserts in general aren't exactly healthy in large quantities, I could make a daily meal of just the desserts.
I love the gluten-free and vegan options. There was a variety and also options for everyone with different dietary preferences. I couldn't eat the French toast but it looked amazing when my friend had it.
Also that craft lattes or to die for.
We had our wedding at Batifol, with ceremony next door at the bakery. It was literally the most amazing experience. The Batifol team was extremely responsive, organized, and executed everything perfectly. The food was amazing - all of our guests said their Salmon and steak were cooked perfectly! And they allowed dietary changes for guests with all different kinds of restrictions (vegan, gluten free allergies). 100% recommend any day of the week. I also love their brunch and dinner menus. And If you want to have an intimate event, their event coordinators are out of this world!!! Thank you all for making out day so perfect!
We sat at the bar - We didn't think we'd need a reservation on a Monday night!
The bartender was amazingly knowledgeable and explained details on both food and drinks.
I have to be gluten free so I had a salmon dish that was great. My friends had 2 different pasta dishes which they both loved.
Excellent food and really good vibes. The menu doesn’t mark gluten free options but the staff were knowledgable and could let us know which were safe to have for a celiac. Would highly recommend. The risotto was especially memorable but the salads were both great too
Life Alive is a great place for healthy satisfying food in a calm atmosphere a short walk from Harvard Yard. The gluten free and vegan options are excellent. Portions are good. Service is friendly and most importantly seating is well-spaced and easy to find. A much better option that Tatte - healthier and without the smell of bacon fat
We went to Tallula's to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. They went above to beyond our expectations. I had the 5 course tasting menu which they modified to make gluten free for me. My husband enjoyed an appetizer, entree and dessert off the a la carte menu. They offered us a delicious champagne toast which was a wonderful way to start off our exquisite meal. The service was impeccable. Thank you for giving us such a memorable night!
I went here for Dine Out Boston with a few friends and we had the best time. The ambiance and decor was so cute, they had great music playing but not too loud so great for chatting. The service was great and the food was so so good! The chopped salad was so delicious and they were super accommodating of my gluten allergy. Will definitely be returning!
Atmosphere can be widely variable, depending on whether or not you drew the short straw. We were seated right away without a reservation on a Sunday around 1pm. There were several nicer tables available which is why we asked to be moved from the single DARKEST place in the dining room - right next to the bathroom. We were rewarded for asking with the single BEST seat in the house - upstairs, overlooking the front of the dining area. Reader, this is the brunch experience I was hoping for. Lots of natural light. Great spot to watch people from (you can even see out to the street and sidewalk). Not too loud on the upper level. It was a bit too chilly for outdoor seating.
The food:
My brunch date got a cortado with the burrata sandwich, noting the sourdough bread was exceptional. We both thought burrata - while wonderful - was a little too runny/drippy for sandwich format... but ideated about how to make it better. (Make it open face and poach an egg on top. Move it to the breakfast side of the menu.)
I got the beet latte (hot) and it was tasty except the chocolate powder on top was an unhappy surprise. Next time, I will know to ask for no chocolate. What a strange combo: chocolate and beet.
For food, I had the "beef and pickles" sandwich on gluten free bread. The gf bread held together pretty well and the mouthfeel was the okayest. It's not the amazing sourdough they have but it's a solid stand in. That pastrami / saurkraut / mustard / pickles palette is my jam, though, and this sandwich was great.
Very nice restaurant all around. The service was wonderful and they accommodated my allergies (gluten and dairy) very well. They do not have a lot of GF and DF options but everything I had was wonderful. Would recommend!
Delicious! Very traditional but elevated cuisine with such depth of flavor. The wait staff was extremely attentive and helpful. They were very flexible and accommodating of my food allergies, most of the food was gluten-free, and even had gluten-free bread.
Great atmosphere, plenty of gluten free and vegetarian options. Many fun and tasty cocktails and mocktails. Service was quick and very friendly.
Two of our dishes could've used a bit more salt, which felt weird cause we never cook with much salt ourselves but it just lacked a bit of a punch. That's not a bad problem to have, although some salt and pepper shakers on the table could be nice to add.
