As a long time customer of True Food Kitchen - for more than 4 years - what initially interested us was the healthy non GMO, Gluten Free menu that does not use unhealthy seed oils (like Canola/Rapeseed Oil) in its food preparation. Since then, True Food has made some slight changes to its menus, including the use of controversial Vital Farms products as well as changes to its gluten friendly pizza dough and hamburger buns, however the one thing that has NOT changed - and is the best part of the restaurant: its employees. Ask for Chantal, Yuyu or Aaron - those are three of the best restaurant professionals you will ever meet! Their can do attitude, combined with their amazing ability to connect with customers is the REAL secret weapon at True Food Kitchen on PostOak. My family can eat at any restaurant in Houston, but we choose to eat at True Food Kitchen on Post Oak because we are always given excellent service and shown kindness when we eat there. Every restaurant should figure out how those three team members work, and copy it exactly - as a customer you leave having had a good meal, and GREAT service. Kindness, always served with a smile - and if there is any problem at all with your order, they are always quick to rectify the situation. You will never sit around with an empty glass of tea if you are being served by Aaron, Chantal or Yuyu. They always put the customer first - which is why, as long as they are working at TrueFood, we will always eat there! I ordered a burger with a gluten free bun. Wrote “GLUTEN ALLERGY!!” On order and verified with staff that it was a gluten free bun when it was picked up. I got home and it was obviously NOT a gluten free bun!
I called the restaurant and the person who answered was very nice but also agreed that it wasn’t gluten free and stated that the staff “missed it” On the order. I asked why they would verify that it was gluten free if it wasn’t. She offered to remake the order…as though I would EVER trust them again.
I was also told I should order during the day because the daytime staff is better.
Also, I have to wait until tomorrow to get my money back because there is not a manager on duty this evening.
I’m seriously disappointed! Anyone that has an allergy knows how important it is that staff take it seriously. I didn’t order fries because they may have been cooked in the same oil as onion rings.

This is a disappointment for a restaurant that I have eaten at for 20+ years. Sadly, this decision will likely be the reason they close their doors. We pulled over to this little joint in the way home from a work trip in the Houston area. Don’t let the shopping center fool you. It was a clean shopping center that was not over-the-top and when you stepped inside, you are greeted with a rustic-like environment. The tables had the appearance of wood plank. Our food was fresh and satisfying. My chef husband said the burger was on point and my colleague said the chicken tenders were flavorful. I had to get a bun less burger because I am gluten free. I was bummed that I couldn’t eat the fries because they are fried in a fryer that shares itself with breaded goods. However, everyone could have the fries and they could tell they were fresh. I was able to get a scoop of ice cream. They had plenty of options. The staff was friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this place and we will be back on our next trip.

This. Place. Is. GREAT!! The food was all freshly made after we ordered so came out nice and hot. The menu is very diverse with lamb, vegan & gluten free options as well as the traditional wings & burger joint fare. The customer service was friendly and attentive. Love that they have milkshake and soda options well as beer and wine for us mature folks Atmosphere was great, music and sports (re-runs, thanks COVID-19) on the big screen.
