As someone who is gluten free, this place was on my list to visit ASAP upon arriving in Hanoi. It did not disappoint! The gluten free pizza base was crispy and tasty, with a perfect amount and balance of toppings on the vegetarian version. Gluten eaters really enjoyed their half Cheese/half Hawaiian and popcorn chicken.
As we were leaving to return to our hotel an enormous rain storm arrived - the staff were so generous and offered for us to use their umbrellas - above and beyond ❤️

Had an amazing meal at mate cafe. I have coeliac disease and they were able to cater well to this and were very well educated on cross contamination. I felt very safe eating the food because of this. The food was delicious and flavoursome and very reasonably priced. The owners were so kind, we had a great chat! We wish we could have come here again during our stay in Hoi an. Unfortunately the carbonara tasted like a mediocre macaroni cheese for kids. I assumed there was a non-European chef at the helm but was surprised to discover otherwise. My family came for dinner last night. It was incredible, the staff were all amazing and had exceptional service. The food was absolutely incredible, could not have been better. The best spring rolls I have ever had, as well as the Pho. One of us was gluten free and that was perfect as there were lots of options and the staff were very helpful with that.
