great ambience and service. lots of gluten free options. loved everything i ordered (meat platter) but wish i got lamb instead of the beef kofte. i felt like the flavor was good but didn’t exactly jump out at me– especially in the stews. but the standout for me was the rice pudding!!! one of my favorite desserts of all time.
We enjoyed a great dinner at Joe's. We were able to get a last-minute reservation while in town for one night. The food was excellent, but the service was top-notch, and I would give our server, Jeffery, 10 stars if I could.
First, they were extremely accommodating with my extensive food allergies. My son and husband have no food allergies, so they got to enjoy a lot more than me.
I opted for the grilled seafood platter that came with scallops, lobster, and shrimp and for a side sautted mushrooms. Everything was made gluten-free, also dairy, soy, peanut, and treenut free.
It was hearty and delicious and I don't often enjoy a meal so much, especiallyseafood. It's hard to find places that can accommodating me.
My son got filet with crab Oscar and my husband a ribeye with bearnaise. They shared a mashed potatoe and a lobster mac.
Jeffery was attentive and funny, and we enjoyed his stories. It made the experience even better.
We are looking forward to eating there again next time we are in town.
Absolutely fabulous experience. Our waitress was wonderful, customizing our "tour of the world" to accommodate my gluten allergy. Every single dish we had was amazing.
**Satisfying Experience at The Capital Burger 🍔🍟**
Dining at The Capital Burger was an absolutely delightful experience that I am eager to recount. From the moment we arrived, the ambiance was warm and inviting, perfectly setting the stage for a wonderful meal. 🌟
Our party indulged in a variety of selections from their tempting menu, beginning with the delectable bacon cheeseburgers. Each burger was crafted with precision, featuring juicy patties complemented by the rich, smoky flavor of bacon and perfectly melted cheese. The Capital Burger, a signature dish, did not disappoint either; it stood out with its harmonious blend of flavors and tender texture. 🍔
For those in our group with dietary preferences, the bacon cheeseburger with a gluten-free bun was a notable highlight. The bun held up beautifully, maintaining the integrity and taste of the classic burger experience. It’s heartening to see such considerate options available, ensuring everyone has a satisfying meal.
For our little one, the children’s grilled cheese meal was a hit. Simple yet delicious, it was a comforting choice that appealed to their taste perfectly. 🧀
What truly enhanced our dining adventure was the impeccable service. The staff was attentive and kind, ensuring our experience was seamless and enjoyable from start to finish. 🙌
In conclusion, The Capital Burger offers not just fantastic food but an overall exceptional dining experience. It’s a place I look forward to visiting again soon, and I highly recommend it to others seeking both taste and quality. 🍽️
Nothing is quite like Pisco y Nazca! Our server Yohanna was fabulous and attentive, helped me with gluten free choices! The food is, as always, incredible and innovative. Whenever I’m in DC I have to come here! Worth the hype.
Amazing Easter Brunch! Thoroughly enjoyed the Easter Brunch experience at 1789. The menu, ambience, and service were exceptional. Gluten Free options available as well.
Very tasty Indian restaurant in the heart of D.C.
Came on a date and sat at the front-most table in the street-facing alcove, best table in the place imo with good views of both the restaurant and the street vibe. Drinks were very good. I recommend the Cardamom Gimlet if you're a fan of gin. Wife got the Pinky Up and also enjoyed it very much. I can't recommend the 'tellicherry hangar steak' enough, it was DELICIOUS and I'd order it a thousand times. Plenty of Gluten-free items on the menu as well; staff are aware of cross-contamination with wheat as well; I got my steak with the naan on a separate plate so my wife could try it. She had butter chicken and it was very on point to the traditional recipe, if maybe a bit sweeter. Overall a solid 'would definitely go again'.
Great atmosphere and amazing service! Cool place to sit down and get some homework done. I was lucky enough to find a seat right away, but it was crowded- the place seems very popular!
I got an iced oat milk latte with lavender and it was very good! I also got a gluten-free chocolate muffin, but it was honestly pretty dry, so I wouldn't recommend it.

I tried the chicken mac n cheese and it was incredibly good. They gave a generous amount of meat, and the chicken was way better than any other place I've tried! 10/10 I would go here again the food came out very fast too. I also love that they had options that are gluten free for my wife (no gluten free mac n cheese though)
I had a delicious meal here this weekend. They have a gluten free menu and it is much more limited than their regular menu but there were still very tasty options. I had the winter salad, the kimchi jjigae and the 30 day kimchi side. It was delicious! I also enjoyed the atmosphere and service. Fun place!

I’ve been here twice with Zach as my server- he provides the absolute best experience. Extremely knowledgeable about the menu and helpful with my gluten allergy. One of the best servers I’ve ever had!
Loved FFB. Great menu choices to offer veggies, gluten free, vegan, carnivores all yummy options. We had 8 folks, 8 cocktails, 8 entrees, 5 apps and 2 desserts. Everything was so good. Big place and a bit noisy. Not great for intimate dining. We had a great time.
My friends and I were pleasantly surprised by a number of things at this establishment.
First, it should be noted we had a party of three with one vegetarian, a pescatarian, and a person with a gluten allergy.
We were seated almost instantly despite it looking very busy, by the main manager no less, and immediately asked about allergies. The manager himself then marked a menu (they use paper menus) for every item that could be made on the Gluten Free Fire and or made with gluten free substitutions. That's right, this location has a SEPARATE grill/fire for gluten free items.
They also have, as far as I am aware, the only non alcoholic wine flight in entire northeast DC area. And though they were sold out of the flight, we were able to order one of the non alcoholic wines for the table and it was quite delicious.
All but one item was brought out quickly despite the crowd. All the food was perfection. They also gave us separate plates and cutlery for sharing to ensure the gluten free items stayed gluten free.
However, just a heads up to those who have hearing difficulties, this space is very loud. And it's a low lighting environment, relying entirely on candles at the table, so if you have difficulty with low light, please make sure you have a flashlight on your phone. Also, the candles are real. Don't light yourself on fire.
Meze is a truly a gem on 18th. The service here is fantastic - Rocky was so kind and helpful - and THE FOOD. The menu is incredibly vegetarian/vegan/gluten-free friendly, everything tasted fresh and well seasoned, the kitchen was able to make accommodations even beyond those available by the menu, and the bartenders were quick and attentive with their cocktails. There is a lot of seating too, both indoors and outdoors, which makes this a great place for a large group.
Such wonderful people. I’m a newly-diagnosed celiac and it’s been hard. I ordered from Ted’s Bulletin on UberEats and the restaurant actually called me to let me know that one of the items wasn’t gluten-free. Then they went above and beyond to find me a safe substitute. The food was really good too!

I went twice in one week while I was visiting because it was SO delicious! It was my first caviar experience and it was exceptional! We also did the martini service the next time- just as phenomenal... I have celiac disease and they were very educated about it and had many gluten free options. I can't recommend this enough!
I ordered delivery and I think I need to visit this place. The online menu is well explained! It shows what items are gluten free. The salsa and chips and guacamole are good!
Booked a 45 person private dinner with their prix fixe event menu and it was absolutely fantastic! The reservation process via their online request portal was smooth and they were very accommodating when it came to food allergies. Our servers were flexible, friendly, and very attentive.
The food itself was delicious. The Fennel Tawook was so tender and the Mushroom Shish Kabob was wonderfully seasoned. There are so many gluten free options which our group was grateful for. Looking forward to planning an event with them again.
I am celiac and vegan and they were able to accommodate me. Nick G was my server and was super helpful in walking me through the menu and telling me what to avoid. They only have 1 deep fryer so any thing that is deep fryer will not be gluten free (fries included). I got the burger bowl, normally I avoid restaurants that don't have gluten free buns but this burger salad was actually good. Great experience!
Walking into Thai Chef Street Food feels like stepping into a bustling corner of Bangkok right in the heart of Dupont Circle. From the moment we arrived, the place was alive with energy—packed tables, the sound of sizzling woks, and the constant flow of takeout orders whisking by. Despite the rush, the staff was welcoming, and we quickly found ourselves seated, taking in the colorful, vibrant atmosphere.
I decided to go for the green curry after reading rave reviews, and it did not disappoint. The curry had the perfect balance of spice and creaminess, warming me from the inside out. It’s one of those dishes you savor with every bite, and honestly, I wasn’t surprised when I saw people around me ordering it as well—it’s a definite crowd-pleaser. The portions were generous too, leaving me full and satisfied without feeling overly stuffed.
The cocktails here are an experience of their own. Not only are they crafted with care, but they also come out looking like little pieces of art. I couldn’t resist snapping a few pictures before taking a sip! The flavors were bold and well-paired with the meal, adding to the overall experience.
If you're a fan of street food, this is the spot for you. The menu is packed with Bangkok-style street eats, perfect for anyone wanting an authentic taste of Thailand. They even have plenty of gluten-free and vegan options, so there’s something for everyone.
Yes, it gets noisy, and the tables are close together, making it hard to hear at times. But honestly, that’s part of the charm. It feels like a lively street market where the noise just adds to the authenticity. And even though the place was packed, the wait for food was totally reasonable. It’s clear they’ve mastered the balance between quick service and quality food.
After such a satisfying meal, I’m already planning my next visit. And for those nights when I want to keep the flavors flowing at home, I’ll be hitting up Pull Up DC to snag some of their fresh flowers to wind down with. If you're in Dupont Circle, Thai Chef Street Food is a must-visit—just be sure to bring your appetite!

What a great Ethiopian restaurant! We ordered the Digis Communal Platter which was about 17 small dishes on top of Injera (could have fed 3-4 people!) Everything was delicious and even my 13 year old daughter loved it. I would highly recommend if you want to eat Ethiopian food while in DC. The service was great too- didn’t rush us out the door the moment we finished. A real find!
They do have gluten-free injera too (on request)- I learned it is naturally gluten free but does need to be requested.

First time I went with my family they tried to pass off a gluten reduced beer as gluten free. They gave us quite an argument when we sent it back. The service and food was good.
The second time we went back my daughter ordered from the gluten free menu a salad and after waiting an hour for our meal they brought her a salad with a slice of bread in it. She specifically said she didn't want the ficcaccio. Our drinks didn't come in a timely fashion and the food order didn't even come for my grandson at all. My food and my granddaughters food took 50 minutes to get to the table. The couple besides us ordered the same time as us and received their food and drinks and paid their check and left before my granddaughter and i got our food. When we complained to the manager for the second time, he offered to comp our meal but that was of no help as we had run out of time at that point and had to leave to catch our train. So what I had hoped to be a pleasant meal to end our trip resulted in a mad dash for the train and the twins eating Mc Donald's.
We needed a place that offered gluten free food because I have celiac disease. Our server, Von, was absolutely amazing. He consulted the chef and asked for my meal to be brought out separate from the others. He was professional, friendly, and understanding. I hope you go to Ruth's Chris just to meet Von. Of course the food was amazing, too.
Very cool place to sit and catch up with friends or sit and do some work on your computer. You can tell this is a locals place and the workers are all very kind. You get the best bang for your buck if you eat in, though. There isn’t too much gluten free friendly food on the menu but it’s right next to DuPont circle which is full of good options.
Incredibly warm and welcoming Ethiopian restaurant. Due to an unexpected flight cancellation, I found myself in DC with 24hrs to fill and so many places I wanted to try. Tsehay is situated on an incredibly charming street in a very lively neighbourhood (lots of local hangouts and a great indie bookstore just up the road).
The food is, simply put, incredible. Tasty and warming - you can tell the owners really put the love into their cooking. I got the beef tib & shiro combo along with the gluten free injera (I was so thrilled to see they had gf options!). It came with a side salad that had this tasty mustard seed and vinegar dressing. The owner stopped by to check in and was so friendly. After talking a bit, he insisted on giving me a little sample of the Ye Bere Alicha (which was divine - the turmeric beef stew was the perfect thing for an overcast rainy day).
When I find myself in DC, this will be one of the first places I come back to visit and I will be recommending any friends who are visiting the area to make the trip up to this delightful restaurant.
