The menu highly recommended the hot chips. We ordered it and the chips were served warm (photo). We send it back and asked for hot chips. It was served hot this time but hard and dry like it had been re-heated in the fryer. That was a bit disappointing. My partner was craving Spaghetti Bolognese commented the flavour was ok but it wasn’t al dente. My gluten free gnocchi was the better part of the meal. Overall the food served had no wow factor hence 3 stars
Was a bit chilly. Good night out with family. Food was good and reasonably priced. Gluten Free options not indicated on paper menu at the table, only via viewing the on-line menu so had to reference that via phone. Shouldn’t have to pay extra for Gluten Free items.
Food was good and good range of gluten free options, but cocktails are a joke. I paid $23 for a cocktail that I’m 90% sure had no alcohol in it at all, and what it lacked in alcohol it certainly made up for in ice. For me, if I’m going to have a nice dinner out, the cocktails need to be good. I could have bought 1/2 bottle of tequila for that price.
Ignacio the man, the myth, the legend - everything was 10/10. Coeliac friend had lots of options and they were all delicious. Would highly recommend Olé to anybody and everybody.
Love this place the crepes are amazing & I always have a great experience here. I SUPER appreciate that they have gluten free crepes since I’m intolerant, and I’ve heard they are just as good.
My wife went there yesterday and had a shared menu, as she is coeliac she had a slightly different menu as expected, however she was given one less dish than all of the other people in the group (the steak/fish which would have been easy to cook gluten free). She was shown the different menu beforehand, but didn’t realise that it was missing that dish relative to the rest of her party
She commented that the food she did have was delicious, but the experience fell short of expectations.
We had dinner here last night and it was amazing. The waiter Jimmy (the French guy) was funny and attentive. The lobster spaghetti was beautiful and so was the beef carpaccio. Very amazing gluten free bread!
Greek food would never fail you. Craving for another yiros wrap after having one in Melbourne. Friendly staff. Gluten-free pita available. delicious. But they all got one common thing, it's a bit pricy for the amount of food you get. Other than that, great taste, not too greasy. Pita tasted fresh. Clean professionally food packaging. Will come back for sure 😉
Visiting Brisbane and caught up with family here, beautiful spot, staff friendly, meals were big pub style meals and delicious, options for gluten free.
Great service and yummy food! Gluten free options too. I ordered the salmon sushi taco, chicken, and gluten free gyozas chicken and lemongrass and mushroom.
Kinda overpriced food and not the best Chinese food. Chicken was kinda dry, the jasmine rice was bland and everything was just overpriced and average. The dumplings were good and tasty, but nothing special.
Although I think the portion sizes were really good and large. They are also super allergy friendly and I think that’s really hard to find in restaurants. I’m glad that they have gluten free dumplings and options. I’m a food vlogger and reviewer so I’m pretty honest with my reviews so this is my honest take of the restaurant.
The chicken with the special 24 hr marinade is delicious, spicy level on choice. The staff is fairly friendly and hands the allergy list with the menu upon asking. The allergy list good structured. They are honest about the possibility if the food might contain even traces of gluten. That there are no gluten free burgers is still disappointing.
Lovely quiet spot by the river with great service and high quality food. Just wish they had a few more gluten free options like easy swaps for pasta or bread or the chips!
Really yummy restaurant and I love the falafels!!! They were gluten free too! The espresso Martini was not good though. Don’t order that. The portions are also very small. But cute and vibey ambiance to the restaurant!!
Very average food at very high prices. Caesar salad advertised as having ‘honey charred chicken’ had smoked processed chicken. $30 for a bowl of cos lettuce a couple of bits of bacon, one anchovy and no egg is not ok. Turns out the online menu was different to the paper one, so paying via QR code is a lucky dip. Couscous salad is listed as gluten free, which could be dangerous if you aren’t switched on. Clearly they rely on foot traffic and beach patrons. Management seemed very non plussed by the issues and offered no compensation or apology other than ‘thanks for telling us’.
Stopped here for a late lunch (like 3pm), it was a miserable wet day but the restaurant was very cosy & warm. The staff were lovely. Hubby had a seafood platter & I had the GF Barramundi. The platter was a bit small for the money but lovely. The Barramundi was delicious & they were very mindful of the need for it to be Gluten Free for me. Overall it was really nice & we will definitely go there again next time we are in Brisbane.
I took a chance on this place because reviews weren’t promising, but all 9 of my family loved the food and service. Menu has extensive gluten free options where taste and texture were similar to gluten food! Very surprised and happy with this restaurant. Thanks guys!
I went for lunch in late December 2022. I am a coeliac, I told the waiter and he assured me my meal would be gluten free. Sure enough, I got extremely sick not long after eating and it lingered for weeks. Tried to contact the restaurant but no response. Disappointing. Don’t go here if you have dietary requirements.
Enjoyed a delicious Pumpkin salad today. New to the menu. They stock gluten free Hahn beer as well. Staff were friendly and interacted with us. It is a lovely place to visit when in Brisbane.
Not celiac safe at all wouldn’t recommend for a celiac, as a celiac. but great option for gluten free as long as you don’t get the burrito, enchilada, quesadillas or soft taco
This was such a lovely restaurant to go to for dinner! Not only was the restaurant extremely welcoming, they had great music and a beautiful and fun belly dancer!! Natalie served me at the restaurant and was exceptionally accommodating to my dietary needs. She made it a mission to deliver incredible service throughout the entirety of dinner, and to be attentive, caring, and kind. She was so careful to point out which dishes were available for me to eat with my Gluten and Dairy intolerances, and even gave me first picks off of the plate of fish to prevent cross contamination as it was a shared dish amongst the tables. That small detail made an impactful and big difference, as it showed she cared and understood how careful you have to be when it comes to anyone’s intolerances and allergies! She was so lovely and it was such a fun and welcoming atmosphere!!!! Thank you!!!!
Absolutely terrible experience here and I left injured!!! Waited ages to be not even be served, then people came in after us and were served before us! Terrible ice cream display! 1/3 of the flavours had no signs so we couldn't even tell what they were and the rest were pushed forward in such a way that they couldn't even be read! There were only 2 scoups between all the flavours and every flavour was cross contaminated with others. So if you're after a gluten free variety, you'll have no luck unless you're willing to risk being poisoned. There was also ice cream dropped all around on the dividers between the flavours which looked messy and unsightly. Needless to say we left without ordering. Don't go here unless you are ok with poor food hygiene. I also need to add that I had a massive fall on the entry rug when exiting as the mat had been placed over a presumably mopped floor trapping the moisture before it dried, creating a slippery trip hazard which unfortunately I was the victim of after placing one foot on the corner of the rug! The fall was bad enough that I went into shock! I now have an injured back, hip and shoulder. Clearly customer safety and food presentation is of no priority here! I later found out when I went back to report my injury, that you need to order ice cream at the cash register, not at the ice cream display like every other ice creamery in existence, so stupid, as you have to walk back to the ice cream display to point at what you'd want as the flavour names aren't displayed, then have to go back to the register to pay! The staff saw us waiting to be served, but didn't even direct us to where we needed to order, just left us there waiting! Avoid this place!!!
EDIT: email sent as suggested by response. Was contacted by store manager who forwarded my concerns to Churros HR. 2 months on, many emails to them from me and the store owner and I still have had NO contact from Churros Head office or HR department! Just appalling!!!
My Mum and I went to this cafe before a medical appointment. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the prices of the meals were affordable. I had an Eggs Your Way and she had a Big Breakfast. We both loved our meals that we were so full afterward but couldn’t leave any of our meals behind!
My Mum is gluten, yeast and dairy free. They had a few options to cater to her. The cafe is wheelchair accessible as there is a ramp on the right side of the building. I didn’t check if they had an accessible bathroom.
Some of the yummiest and freshest bowls I've tried, and I eat a lot of poke! The ingredients are always so fresh. The pre designed bowl options are really carefully thought out but if you can't find one you like, you can design your own. Most of the bowls are gluten free or low gluten and dairy naturally as they're based on rice or a salad base like kale. Yummy and healthy, all around the $20 as at time of writing.
It’s not advertised on their website, but if you can’t eat gluten, you can call ahead and order a gluten free crunchy chicken sushi roll! They also have a really yummy gf teriyaki sauce. Super accommodating - thank you!
We dined at the Bacchus Bar for dinner and drinks and the atmosphere was beautiful. We were served by Matthew, Rory and Ellie, and I couldn’t recommend more. I am coeliac and they were easily able to accommodate for this. They paired wine to our meals perfectly. 10/10 recommend. This will be our new date “date night” for sure.
We ordered the chicken fried rice, hot chips and plain bibimbap. Fried rice and hot chips were both gluten free but the bibimbap was only GF if it was plain, not sure why they couldn't just add some chicken like in the fried rice lol but either way, everything else was delicious. They sadly don't have many other gluten free options but they made up for it in the deliciousness of the meals that were GF. Thanks staff for a lovely meal!
I only get their vegie burrito bowl and they still don't include it in their lunch deal. Maybe if I order the lunch deal and ask them not to include the tortilla I might find a loophole for this enduringly silly system.
I bought my usual veggie burrito bowl but brought a drink from elsewhere since they don't have any combo deals I can get.
I have been going there occasionally for years and while I have had some crappy service (see old review below), most of the service has been good and the young woman who served me today was lovely. Even with my annoying questions about gluten she was helpful and very pleasant. The burrito bowls of late have been better than both GyGs salty fast food AND even Zambrerro's burrito bowls.
The tables and area in general is pretty manky and in need of attention but it's tolerable. That's about the only thing gyg has over Burrito Bar.
Old review:
Usually the food is fine and veg burritos are better than GyG but not as good as Zambrerro.
They have an lunch offer to get a burrito and stuff but they can't alter it at all. When I asked if I can get a burrito bowl in the meal she said no but then offered me another option. What was her genius suggestion, she pointed to burrito bowl on the menu and told me I can buy it on its own. Hard to imagine she could say that without meaning it in a facetious way.
(EDIT: I have never emailed them as their reply requested. I'd rather businesses just get their act together instead of trying to bribe customers individually)
We ate here 2 nights ago. We were a bit skeptical after reading many of the negative reviews but needed somewhere affordable to eat. If u want a 4 or 5 star place to eat then this isn't for you. However our food was great & they have a good range of Gluten Free options. it was super tasty, good value for money. Everywhere was busy that night including San Kai but the food came out quickly, it was warm/hot, it was tasty, it was a good serving of food & the staff were friendly & helpful. All the people in our group were extremely happy - even the gluten free member. We will certainly go back again.
