We were excited to try this restaurant after discovering that the entire menu was gluten free. It was disappointing that the margaritas were made with lime cordial, and do not include Triple Sec as a traditional margarita would. It was also sad to see the meals drenched in what tasted like an artificial cheese sauce, which left us feeling quite nauseous afterwards. The service also was a little off, with multiple waitresses coming to take our order several times even after we'd ordered. After spending around $170, we left feeling pretty disappointed with the whole experience. We received a follow up email from our booking saying 'If you enjoyed your experience please feel free to click here to leave us a comment. If there is something we didnt quite get right, our Manager would love to hear from you'. Not being one to typically leave a bad review, particularly for small business, I sent an email advising of our experience. Sadly I never received a response, hence the honest review.

Was recommended this restaurant as it was stated that they cater for gluten free meals. They do and a very good menu selection. Seating is upstairs with a view. The service was very efficient yet not rushed. Food quality was good and good portions. Would recommend.

Cried from how good the food is, finally some authentic Mexican food after traveling through Australia. The owner is so kind and interacts with all of the guests, the menu is delicious, atmosphere is wonderful. All gluten free. I wish I lived in Brisbane so I could frequent this place.

Delicious food and a great view of Cotton Tree beach. Almost the entire menu is gluten free as corn flour is traditional Mexican. We had the best crumbed calamari in town, as well as delish breadfruit and shrimp avo Mango salad. Yummmm

Food was hit and miss. Didn't seem very organised/understanding with how to make their options gluten free even though it was on the menu. Super uncomfortable with no air con or fans on.

I’m a big fan! We have been to Hawthorne and recently tried new farm. Cannot fault the food it is sumblime. So much flavour! And I am gluten free so was very happy the tortillas were corn and not wheat, I could basically eat everything on the menu which is incredible. Will be back soon.

Absolute rubbish. Service was absolutely pathetic. Wrong drinks order + slow. My friend specifically required gluten free - and ordered the gluten free option. 30min later we had to leave abruptly as she was sick. Unfortunately Frida Sol is a far cry from what it used to be. Won't go back again. Ever

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I recently hosted a birthday lunch at Maya Mexican Restaurant for a group of 20, and I couldn't be more pleased with the experience! The staff was incredibly accommodating, ensuring that all of our dietary requirements were met—from gluten-free to vegetarian and everything in between. Everyone had a fantastic time, and the food was absolutely delicious! The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, making for the perfect setting to celebrate. Huge thanks to the team for going above and beyond to make sure every guest had an enjoyable and personalized experience. Highly recommend Maya for any group gatherings or special occasions!

The Food was great, delicious tacos! I appreciate all the gluten free options. We attended as a table of 16 and unfortunately over the 3hrs no one cleared a single plate until the last 10minutes. I understand the place was busy but to sit with our plates while we’re still ordering expensive cocktails was disappointing. Also, 1 toilet for a place that holds way over 100 people must be criminal. I understand that is the building setup but lining up in the rain behind drunk young people for 1 toilet is the pure reason I will not be going back. $13 schooner of beer also doesn’t help..

Was very pleased to see a burrito place that offered gluten free wraps! Haven’t been able to have a guilt free burrito in a long time, so I decided to give it a go. Ordered a regular toasted burrito, and the first thing I noticed was the setup was very similar to Subway! They go through the bar and you get to pick fillings and toppings as they take you through. They also had a variety of sauces to go with the burrito! I ended up picking the basil sauce as I thought it would be very unique flavour mix. Burrito came out hot and toasted, and it was alright! I think my choice of toppings and sauce were probably the culprit here, I think it would be delicious with some jalapeños and hot sauce 😋 The quality was still amazing. The meat fillings didn’t feel as generous as GYG, the chicken was also shredded which might have made it seem like less. Will have to go around to the city branch some time to try out another flavour combo next time!

Ordered through Uber eats at 8:01pm delivery said it would be delivered at latest by 9:10 that time came and went then it said delivery updated to 9:30 and at 9:35 zombrero cancelled the order completely and now because of the stuff around I have no chance of finding anything else that's gluten free. If you can't fulfill an order why accept it and wait an hour and a half then cancel it

My friend and I visited Cactus Jacks at Canon Park just last Friday. We arrived for happy hour, which made finding a car park very easy. Although it was very easy for the both of us to get a carpark, I did notice it started to fill up significantly after 7-7:30 PM, around the time we left, as my spot was taken almost immediately after I pulled out. We were seated within five minutes, at first a server walked up to us then immediately turned around before coming back which was a bit odd, but we were seated none-the-less. After seating, we immediately placed our drinks order and once those came out, entrees were ordered. Service at the start was pretty quick however as it started to get last 7pm, there was a noticeable drop in service speed. In saying this though, the mains didn't take too long to arrive. Regarding drinks (mocktails and cocktails), the service speed varied; sometimes they were delivered quickly, while other times it took a little while. I suspect this was just due to how busy the bar was at the time. The staff were generally helpful, although it seemed to be a case of Murphy's Law - whenever we needed assistance, no one appeared to be free 😂! However, they were quite quick to respond once we managed to wave them down. We were seated in the outdoor area so I don't know if that influenced how well staff could see us to provide service but it wasn't anything bad which is why I'm happy to leave this as a 5 star review. The food itself was brilliant; it had a good taste and we encountered no issues with any of our dishes. I'm a little sad that they discontinued Pepe's Rump for the fajitas, the alternative plain beef option wasn't bad. I still think Pepe's Rump was superior, but their recipe with the standard beef steak was still good. Settling the bill was straightforward, and they were accommodating with splitting the payment, which made things simple for our group. I haven't been to Cactus Jacks in a while, so it was good to return. I may consider visiting more regularly in the future. Vegetarian options were easier but being Mexican focused, a fair few of the dishes were meat focused.
