The best gluten free fish and chips I’ve ever had, even better to peace of mind that the whole place is fully gf, and the staff are very knowledgeable. We enjoyed taking these down to eat on the lakefront, will definitely be back again!

Amazing food! Best bakery/ cafe for gluten free food. Huge selection to pick from and the staff are so friendly! The tiramisu cookie pie is hands down the best gluten free option I’ve ever had.
I was there an hour 40mins ago and bought brownie cheesecake slice and a Mince & Cheese pie which they heated up from cold for me, made today apparently. Together they cost me $17.50!!
There are no prices displayed so if you're going here expecting to be satisfied on a typical NZ bakery budget then think again, the gluten free premium is rife here.
Do note the lack of stars on this review reflects only on the pie of which I'm disappointed, I am half way through the pie now and I still haven't tasted the filling. For what I'm guessing is a $9 pie it's not up to par compared to much better pies in the Wellington region that are cheaper and packed to the brim with filling.
Speaking of which I've gotten to the filling at last and it tastes great but still no sign of cheese. Upon finishing the pie now my conclusion is there's less than 1 teaspoon of cheese in this pie.
Sorry guys but my experience of a most basic pie is lacklustre. Unlikely this review will directly affect your high rating but pie wanters should know what to expect.
I have celiac disease and ordered a variety of things from the gf menu woth no issues! The spring rolls were not what I expected, but ended up being better than I expected. They were so good I could eat them every night. The fish batter was excellent and the hot dog was good as well. The building itself looks run down but the kitchen was clean, the prices were excellent and the service was wonderful. Seriously was the best experience I've ever had at any gf fish and chip shop anywhere!!!
Had a delicious brunch here when staying in Wellington. I'm gluten free and items were clearly marked on the menu, there was plenty to choose from. Service was very friendly and food was quick. Good value for money in my opinion as the servings were generous.
A dedicated gluten free cafe serving delicious food. Great options to choose from. Fig ice-cream also available & their is a sales area full of fig produce.
Had a morning business meeting and Hello Stranger staff were so accommodating, helped me join tables together and added a bit of banter which was well received.
We went here due to the reviews on catering for Coeliac’s, I was very impressed with the range of Food and that they had separate kitchen areas to prep Gluten Free food for Coeliac’s
I felt very at ease and safe to eat here due to the knowledge of all the staff.
Food was great
🫶🏻 We had a wonderful experience at Miss Kangsta! As a gluten-free (coeliac!) restaurant, it’s absolutely fantastic — delicious food, fresh ingredients, and so many creative options. The staff was welcoming and very knowledgeable about dietary needs, which made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend for anyone looking for amazing gluten-free dining in Wellington!
I was recommended to go here as a coeliac and wasn’t expecting a buffet style eatery - the food was okay.I went there twice and the first time the hot cabinet had only GF trays of food (which made me comfortable), but then the next day I came for breakfast and they did have one non-gf tray in the same cabinet. This made me uneasy, especially as the tray was the second row in, meaning the spoonfuls of food would have to travel over other gf trays and potentially contaminate them.
My family and I came here for breakfast and loved it. It is almost 100% gluten free excited for the whey oats they use in their porridge. It is all plant based so I thought my young kids might not like it but everything we ordered we all devoured. Perfect breakfast place for celiacs.
Loved my experience here the staff were super kind and helpful, I rang beforehand and was made to feel super welcome and when I arrived I was told all the safety measures put in place such as a seperate gf fryer and working area. I had the fried chicken burger it was okay, the bread tasted a bit sconish and the chicken was a little underseasoned but the Kumara fries were insanely good! Would love to try one of the other burgers :)
The most incredible gluten and dairy free waffle cones. I also had their ice cream sandwich and they make the creamiest dairy free ice cream. Definitely worth checking out. It's 100% gluten free🙌🏻
Quality fish'n'chips, have a gluten free fryer so the coeliac in the family didn't miss out. Super busy at peak times. Recommend ordering online for pick up.
Great place to get a burger for a coeliac, though only if you go on a day the buns are fresh! I went twice, and the first time my gf bun was really nice, but the second time it completely broke apart within the first two bites, making it too hard to eat without a knife and fork. These are things we deal with as gluten free people anyway, so it wasn’t surprising, but a little disappointing after such a good bun the time before. Otherwise the burgers were great, the chicken nuggets were really nicely cooked, and the chips were yum too!
Such a cool spot on the corner of cuba! Great prices for generous portions and a lovely atmosphere. Staff are always lovely and so good about dietaries! I’m coeliac, dairy and nut free and feel very safe eating here (disclaimer: obviously there’s still risks!), would definitely recommend for vegans and vegetarians too! Only thing I’ve noticed after coming here a few times is the gluten free pasta can be way too salty at times. (Don’t think this is always the case but I think it might be from over salting the water as gf pasta absorbs so much more than regular pasta & it’s not the sauce that’s too salty).
As a coeliac and lactose intolerant person I was happy to find a place that was able to safely cater for breakfast and lunch! I didn’t love my breakfast, but I LOVED the chicken Vietnamese salad I had for lunch. Like it was the best lunch I had in my New Zealand travels.
They are coeliac aware and take extra care with gluten free meals. Nice staff members and pleasant atmosphere. Enjoyed my coffee too!

We ordered a cake online for a work farewell. The person leaving is gluten free, so when using the website we selected "cakes", then "gluten free". 30 options came up. We chose a naked cake, selected the size and paid. On picking up the cake today we discovered it was not gluten free at all. We then had to buy additional cupcakes which were gluten free for our team mate.
I'm sure the cake will taste great, but just a warning for others to take your time when ordering and include in the notes section that you need a gluten free option.
If you're in Christchurch, Doubles is an absolute must-visit! Hands down, the best café in the city. The selection of gluten-free options is incredible — it’s not just a couple of items; it’s a whole range of delicious choices that cater to every craving. Whether you’re in the mood for a hearty breakfast, a light lunch, or a sweet treat, they've got it all, and it’s insanely amazing.
If you’re a foodie or just someone who appreciates incredible coffee and mouthwatering meals, Doubles Cafe is the spot. I can’t recommend it enough. Every visit is a treat! Yum doesn’t even begin to cover it.
Had the pleasure of dinning at the Public kitchen and bar with my partner. Our waiter Ed throughly explained the menu to us. My partner is a celiac and Ed brought out a seperate menu for her and talked us through it and even gave us some delicious recommendations. The service was great and the food and drink were excellent. Lovely establishment and a great waiter. Thank you Ed!!!
Love this vegan cafe that you wouldn't even know if you walked off the street as the food is so tasty! Great having some gluten free options too, perfect for my dietary requirements without sacrificing flavour and freshness.
Helpful, friendly staff and nice atmosphere.
Will return!
So, so happy to have discovered the cozy corner cafe. We're not locals but will definitely be coming back anytime we're in Taupo. This place is a gem and a rare find! Most cafes offer gluten-free, vegan etc as one or two options on their menu as an added consideration for those with dietary requirements. This place caters to virtually every dietary requirement as the basis of their menu, whilst still offering what you'd expect from any cafe. The food is delicious, as well as great coffee. Super highly recommended! I wish there were more cafes around like this

New owners are lovely and accommodating. They seem to understand about gluten free and keeping things separate as not to poison anyone. Affordable (as much as they can be in this climate) food is always nice, fat drained and hot.
Very popular place.
It was just on the outskirts of the main city area, within comfortable walking distance.
Being gluten free I was impressed with the offerings available to me.
Lovely vibes. Highly recommend.
I don’t usually do good or bad reviews but I can’t help but do so for this one. :) my lunch was so delicious and I can’t stop thinking about it. What made it even better was the service! I went to order lunch early on my break and the lady was kind enough to explain to me that the chicken was not ready and that it had to be cooked to the right temperatures so that’s it’s safe to eat. This was great to hear. I waited, ordered and got a free cookie for waiting! Really appreciated and gluten free which I need as I’m Coleac. So thank you to the staff today. :) will definelty be back sooner!
Packed house Awesome cabinet displayed with the most amazing food. Beautifully presented . Loads of gluten free options . Coeliac friendly. Great place to be on a wet cold day
My husband and I went here because we were in the area and saw that it had good reviews. I am gluten free (coeliac). The menu was clearly labelled and almost the whole menu was gluten free, including unique options like fried chicken and onion bahji.
They were very friendly and welcoming. They also seemed very mindful of dietary requirements, including cross-contamination.
We had the cassava fries, 31 masala chicken curry, goat curry and paneer saagwala. Everything was delicious and flavourful. I would especially recommend the goat curry.
Thank you for a lovely meal!!
Finally gluten free fish and chips and other food. So clean, fresh and yummy.
Just had battered Tarahiki, omg I'm in heaven. Will now be my go to place.
