Super fun little knick knacky spot. Kind of feels like you're in an 80's sitcom hangout. The ladies are very sweet! The food was quite good, including a gluten-free selection. If I lived a little closer I would be a regular- but instead I'll be an occasional visitor. Either way, I'll definitely be back!
Website advertises gluten free options. However, server didn't know what gluten was (she thought corn tortillas contained gluten) and refused to ask kitchen if menu items had gluten or could be modified. She threw up her hands and said "well I don't know". I went with gf pancakes to be safe as they were the only thing clearly marked. They were decent and the bloody Mary was pretty good. Overall nothing to write home about but not bad. My suggestion to management would be if you're going to advertise about having gf options please educate your staff on what those options are.
Was searching for a specific gluten free item, and was striking out everywhere. Stopped by here (first time) and low and behold, they had it!! Saving Christmas with the mix I need to make my gluten free gingerbread. Thanks Jimbos!
I've been coming for years. My favorite place to get a sandwich! And gelato, of course. A few gluten free pastries baked daily, great tea selection, and good coffee. Not easy for large groups but great for small get togethers. Order ahead on their site or by phone. Really friendly staff ever time.
4 words: gluten free French toast! It was delicious. I hadn't had French toast in almost 3.5 years since becoming gluten intolerant, and felt great after! They also have other gluten free options and great bacon. We showed up right at opening, 6am, after driving 11.5 hours on a road trip. The kindness of the waitress and great food made for a great start to the day :)
They have Gluten Free pizza dough, made from rice and potato starch, and you can get the 12" pizzas GF for an extra $4 (so about $30). The pizzas are piled and very filling and enjoyable. We started with an antipasto salad (wonderful) and two GF pizzas, it was way more food than we expected. If you have Celiac, ask for the manager and they'll make double sure that your GF pizzas are cooked on a separate liner and cut with a separate slicer. Would definitely come again.
OMG, just SO GOOD! My friend and I stopped here on our way to Temecula - it's really hard to find vegan food as is, but GOOD vegan food is impossible UNTIL NOW! We shared the guac which was outstanding! Then when our food came, our jaws hit the floor! Beautiful presentation and huge portions! My friend got a burrito the size of her head lol and I got the Gordita Plate (Gluten Free option) and added cheese and sour cream. I don't have words to describe how delicious everything was! The cucumber drink was so refreshing and the horchata was perfectly sweet as my liquid dessert. I can't wait to go back!
Omg!!! This place was beyond amazing. Not only do they have an extensive gluten-free menu available, But they're also incredibly friendly, and professional. The chef even caught one of the items that was listed on the gluten-free menu, had been recently changed, and was no longer safe. I absolutely appreciate the due diligence for my concern.
I had the yakisoba with gluten free noodles, which typically, for gluten-free does not come with a sauce. But their black miso glaze that they use on their salmon, was an absolutely perfect substitute. The flavor was incredible, as was everything else.
I don't live in the area, but I guarantee that when I do come around here. I will be back. You can lay money on that
Double check your ticket/ check before paying. My family and I visited this place last week while in town and noticed that our bill was incorrect and when I asked for them to change it, the guy argued saying it was the correct prices. I had to show him the menu and it was only then he changed it. If they make this “ mistake “ with every patron it can definitely add up for them.
On the other hand this place was pretty busy and is favored by a lot of locals which we can see why. The menu is huge and offers many Asian cuisines from mostly Vietnamese, some Chinese, some Thai and even a couple Filipino dishes and is even vegan & gluten free friendly. Half my family is vegan so this is a great place for both omnis and vegans due to their options. Since it was listed as a Vietnamese restaurant and saw the menu was mostly Vietnamese Cuisine, we all just got different Phos and I love that they have a true pho flavor soup that was made with veggies and the traditional pho spices. It was tasty and packed with fresh veggies BUT it was definitely on the sweeter side. Even the broth felt sticky after it spilled a little on the table. I’m not sure if this is the norm here or just that day that they put way too much rock sugar in their broth but either way it was too much for me.
It was early for a Wednesday dinner so there were few cars in the lot. And the way the place looks, we almost turned away, but decided to take a chance.
Boy we’re glad we did. The food and the service were great! Three of our party had gluten free sandwiches, the one cook in our group smelled the fried chicken upon entry, and it lived up to his expectations.
Get a slice of pie for dessert. They’re home made, including the whipped cream.
I have found my favorite coffee shop!! I’ve only been here a few times but the atmosphere is quite lovely! That’s the only way I can describe it. It’s quiet in a calm way. People are here (with kids) and talking but it’s not the hustle and bustle of other shops. I don’t live near here me, but this might become a regular “Let’s go have coffee” spot. Definitely I want a change of scenery and coffee.
I got peanut butter toast today so I could feel like a kid! It’s actually TWO slices. I was not expecting that. If you have two young kids (minus allergies) you could order one of these and feed both. 😆
They have some gluten free options in the baked goods. Today they had protein donuts. Next time.
Fantastic food! They a good variety of pizzas. We loved authentic Indian flavors like tikka chicken pizza. They also have gluten free, vegan options. Really loved this place.
Please be careful what you order, their brisket or BBQ, or both, are marinated or cooked in something that eliminates the gluten free option. We are not sure which entree was the culprit, please double check how the meat is cooked when you order.
Besides our GF reaction, go with the St. Louis BBQ sauce, their house sauce is bland. Adding brisket to the salad was a good option, but the brisket was cold, so it did not add to the greens.
We absolutely enjoyed the cole slaw, perfectly flavored and just wet enough. We were split with the BBQ, it was average, nothing memorable, just filling.
Pizza 22 is a local gem offering delicious pizza and exceptional gelato. The pizza here is not only good but also reasonably priced, making it a great option for a casual meal. One of the standout features is their unique flavors, which add an exciting twist to the traditional pizza experience. Whether you're a fan of classic margherita or adventurous toppings, Pizza 22 has something for everyone. The gluten free crust is great as well.
The gelato is a must-try; it's creamy, flavorful, and the perfect dessert to round off your meal. What truly sets Pizza 22 apart, however, is the friendly service. The staff are warm, welcoming, and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience from start to finish. If you're looking for a cozy place with tasty food and excellent service, Pizza 22 is definitely worth a visit.
Disclosure: I am biased towards locally owned, family establishments. If they also feature well-done craft beer, I'm a pushover. Notwithstanding this observation of my viewpoint, Jacked-Up is a place that deserves our frequent and ongoing patronage. The Dragon fruit IPA is award winning phenomenal - note: I'm not a "fruit beer" person. I enjoyed the smoked porter for it's full-bodied mouth-feel and satisfying finish; I actually left with a four-pack. My wife, who practices a gluten free diet, was especially delighted by the quality of the corn meal crust pizza. The Jacked-Up meatball and pepperoni really pleased the beautiful carnivore I love. In summary, for the beer and for the pizza - ok mainly for the beer - I plan to frequent Jacked Up Brewery early and often when I'm in Escondido.
Great variety of food, pupusas, Italian, sandwiches and great sides. Saw they serve breakfast too! Always delicious and great knowledge about what is gluten free
Menu has Gluten Free items clearly marked. Very good margarita, excellent atmosphere, good service. Salsa and guacamole are mild, and it felt like everything needed a lot of salt, but we enjoyed ourselves.
