We stopped in for our anniversary lunch and could not be more pleased with our meals! They have so many gluten free options and they make sure those options are full of flavor! They are happy to answer any questions or concerns as well. The sushi was also absolutely delicious! Great dining experience.

Tried a gluten free cupcake, and it was amazing!! Many places don’t offer gluten free options with such rich and delicious tastes. I highly recommend trying this place! The topping is so delicious. A little pricey but the taste definitely makes up for it.
We ordered takeout. The time quoted was spot on, we had hot pizza when we arrived home. We tried the gluten free pizza and the hot honey pepperoni pizza. The gluten free crust needs a little revamping, but good. The hot honey pizza was disappointing. We’ve had the lasagna pizza before and it was excellent! Not so this time. The pizza was way undercooked so the dough was almost raw under the sauce. The sauce itself was quite bland. And this is nitpicking, but the pepperoni could have been could have been more evenly distributed by a kindergartner! This was disappointing because you really needed pepperoni in each bite as the pizza was quite bland.
This place has become our regular spot because everything on the menu is fantastic! We always order the garlic knots, mozzarella sticks, Tony Soprano sandwich, and a pepperoni pizza — and everything is consistently delicious. The gluten-free pizza is really good too, one of the best we’ve had anywhere. Everyone should try the Nonna pizza — it’s a must! The sauce and crust on that one are on another level.
On top of the great food, the owners and staff make you feel like you’re being welcomed by family. Highly recommend this spot to anyone craving great Italian comfort food!

Trattoria di Bernardone in St. John's County has a special place in my heart as a genuine haven for authentic and homemade Italian cuisine. Nestled in The Pavilion at Durbin Park, next to the Durbin Park movie theatre, this family-owned gem has become my sanctuary for a true taste of Italy, delivering an experience that goes beyond the ordinary.
From the very first step into Trattoria di Bernardone, the inviting aroma of freshly baked bread envelops you, a mark of the exceptional culinary journey awaiting. The bread, a labor of love crafted in-house, arrives at your table consistently hot and fluffy inside. Each bite is a nostalgic embrace, reminiscent of the comfort of homemade bread straight from grandmas kitchen.
The heart and soul of this trattoria undoubtedly lie in its homemade pasta—a true testament to the culinary dedication of the Bernardone family. Whether it's the classic Chicken Parmesan, the delightful Fusilli Campagnola with gluten-free sauce, the comforting Mario's Traditional Lasagna, the succulent Meatball, or the flavorful Calamari Steak, each dish radiates authenticity and transports you to the cobblestone streets of Italy. The pasta, prepared with precision and care, is a genuine celebration of Italian culinary traditions.
What sets Trattoria di Bernardone apart is not just the exceptional food but also the warm embrace of a family-run establishment. The staff, an extension of the Bernardone family, go above and beyond to ensure every diner feels like a cherished guest. The personal touch and genuine smiles create an ambiance that turns a meal into a cherished memory, making each visit feel like a reunion with dear friends.
During our delightful dining experiences, Marcellino, the skilled bartender at Trattoria di Bernardone, added an extra layer of warmth and hospitality to our visits. His expertly crafted cocktails and friendly demeanor enhanced the overall experience, making our time at the trattoria even more memorable.
I must give a special shoutout to our server, Liz, who made our dining experiences truly exceptional. Liz's attentive and friendly service added an extra layer of joy to our meals. Her recommendations were spot-on, and her genuine enthusiasm for the menu made our visits even more delightful. It's servers like Liz who contribute to the welcoming atmosphere that sets Trattoria di Bernardone apart.
Having indulged in over half of the menu, I can confidently declare that every dish at Trattoria di Bernardone is a symphony of flavors. The commitment to authenticity, the use of high-quality ingredients, and the unmistakable passion for their craft shine through in every delectable bite. It's more than just a restaurant; it's a sanctuary for those seeking a genuine, homemade, and heartwarming Italian dining experience.
In conclusion, Trattoria di Bernardone in St. John's County is not just a place to dine; it's a personal journey to the heart of Italy. If you're searching for an authentic culinary experience, marked by homemade perfection, a familial touch, and the delightful touch of Liz's expertise, look no further. Trattoria di Bernardone is a culinary haven that has woven itself into the fabric of my dining adventures, leaving an indelible mark on my heart. Buon appetito!
I think about the Vito’s salad all the time. Delicious gluten free pizza. There’s a chocolate pot o crème or custard that isn’t on the menu but it’s gluten free and to die for. They price menu toppings the way they should e.g. 50 cents for onions and $6 for freshly blackened chicken breast. The house made Italian sausage is only a dollar, though and it’s divine.
Just had a Cuban sandwich here on tostones due to avoiding gluten as much as possible. It was amazing! The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was fun!
I honestly am so surprised this place isn’t more gluten friendly as the owner has to eat gluten free too. The food is great but there are a LOT of things that you can’t eat here. It’s not my go to spot only because it doesn’t offer more options. And some of their dishes would be so easy to make gluten free. Makes no sense.
We eat here once a week. I'm gluten free Celiac and always order Hibachi chicken gluten free with brown rice. Always excellent food. Always clean and good service.
Amazing pizza, and the only place I know that has gluten free crust with no egg. As someone with a ton of food allergies, this place has saved me on nights where I have no energy to cook. Can't recommend enough!
Tickled to death to have found this place. I called ahead and spoke to Andy to ask questions about gluten free food preparation and options. Not often do I get a warm and fuzzy feeling about a new place, but I got it here. I asked if it's best to call my order in or place it online and he offered to take it then. The store still didn't open for another ten minutes. Shame on me for not getting the names of the two people at the counter when I picked up the order because they were delightful. The young woman was warm and welcoming, the young man was engaging and helpful. I mentioned I had called and spoke to Andy. Turns out Andy is the manager and is out of state even though he took my call (I had selected 1 to speak with manager) AND took my order. He called the store to tell them the order and to handle appropriately due to the food restrictions.
It was really nice that even though the manager was out of town, the team was still united with proper communication. It was a great experience with the staff for sure.
The burger was delicious! I do wish their was a gluten free side option, but that's ok. I will absolutely be coming back to the Burger Barn and will be sure to get the names of those individuals that helped me today, too! Thanks for a delicious lunch and taking great care of my dietary needs today. See you again soon!
Always fresh and plenty of organic options. I eat vegan and gluten free. They cater to both these preferences with lots of animal protein options as well.
Been here twice, once on a girls’ night out and again with my family (two young kids) and I’ll keep coming back.
Service is good and the food is tasty! I’d say it’s slightly more authentic than your American Italian so there’s something for everyone to enjoy. 1 star off because service can slip a bit when busy, needing to find a server for water and slower wait time.
Big fan of the calamari, apricot chicken with tossed garlic linguine on side, and seafood risotto—HUGE chunks of lobster and plentiful seafood cooked well.
A couple things to note:
-No kids menu (or entertainment like crayons, not a problem)…waitress gave few options like flatbread pizza, spaghetti and meatballs and chicken tenders for the littles
-Gluten Free pasta is a minimal up charge
-Happy Hour is a must for appetizers! (Half off before 6pm—Didn’t get drinks so I can’t say anything in that regard)
Recommend: Apricot Chicken, Seafood Risotto, Chicken Parmesan, Calamari
