Ferawyns has an outstanding selection of gluten-free pastries, baked goods, and chocolates—truly some of the best I’ve found. Every item I’ve tried is a winner, and the quality is consistently top-notch.
That said, it’s hard to overlook the atmosphere created by the owner. I’ve been a loyal customer for some time now, and unfortunately, I’ve witnessed repeated moments where the staff are spoken to harshly and with open condescension, even in front of customers. The kitchen may not be soundproof, but you wouldn’t know it based on how freely negative comments are made—about both staff and patrons.
In one instance, I asked if a particular item was still available because I loved it and hoped to bring some home for my family. The staff member kindly checked, only to be met with a biting, “Of course they are asking that,” from the kitchen. The attitude was unmistakable—and unprovoked, only to be topped off with her coming out of the kitchen to glare at me and then go back.
It saddens me to see how the warmth of the front-of-house staff has shifted over time. Once cheerful and engaging, they now seem anxious and on edge. I can’t help but think how much stronger this business could be if the internal environment matched the joy and care poured into the food.
I want to keep supporting Ferawyns because the products truly shine. But I’d feel far better doing so if I knew the people behind the counter were being treated with the same respect and dignity their work deserves—and that Joana viewed customers as supporters rather than wallets that shouldn't speak.
Hate do do this cause I do like the food. However they refuse to carry any gluten free seltzers. I get vodka is GF but you don’t always want a stiff drink.
Their food was mind blowing! Service was fast and staff were polite. I had vegan green curry and fried eggplant and it was one of the best experiences of life! They also have good amounts of vegan and gluten free options! 😍☺️
Not only was our food delicious, but every dish we saw coming out of the kitchen looked just as good. Service was excellent!! Waitress was very quick to offer me gluten-free menu the moment I mentioned something about it. The drinks looked spectacular. Definitely worth coming back again and again!!
Love that they never charge extra for gluten free!!!! + Gianna was amazing! She made sure we had everything we needed and checked on us frequently even when her section was slammed
Since living here in North Carolina, I had to cut gluten out of my diet. But! My husband and I splurge once a month and get the deep dish Chicago pizza. It just reminds me of Home! You have it perfected. I’m excited because I don’t really like going back to Chicago except to get the pizza and now I don’t have to;)
I cannot recommend this place highly enough. By FAR the best gluten-free baked goods in the Triangle area -- and with the most loving baker.
*Storytime*
We sampled cakes from around the Triangle area. I am gluten intolerant, and I was GOING to EAT my own wedding cake, dagnabbit! Many of the cakes we sampled were good. But they often had one base flavor -- and frankly, many of them were dry.
That's the hazard of gluten-free baking, right? Wrong.
We hired Bestow Baked Goods immediately after eating their sample tray.
Every. One. Of their cakes. Was rich, decadent, soft, moist, and packed with flavor. They have multiple bases to choose from, their cream cheese frosting is to die for, and their frosting flavors are out of this world. Our wedding cake was a sweet potato base with cinnamon honey frosting. When I tell you I was hyping this cake up for months, I'm not kidding. And if you're a doubter, let me just say: when other doubters finally got to eat this cake at our wedding, they converted to singing Bestow's praises. The cake was outrageously good.
But that's the thing. It's not just about the cake. I mean, don't get me wrong -- it is. But what's so special about Bestow's baker, Heather, is how much heart she puts into her work. It's been a year now since our wedding, and we continue to feel as loved by our baker as we felt loved by our friends on our wedding day.
Each baked good we buy from Bestow -- and there have been many in the last year -- is a reminder. It's a reminder of how perfect our wedding day was. A reminder of how much had to happen to make our wedding possible. Of how generous of spirit Bestow Baked Goods and Heather are. And it's freaking delicious. Always.
Talk to any of our friends, family, or colleagues. We haven't stopped preaching the BBG gospel. And we never will.
After two years of eating here weekly, they've finally priced me out for good. When I started eating here, my meal of a burger, fries, and a drink was about $20. Pricey, but in line with what I spend at Five Guys or Chipotle or other places. Since then, my same meal has climbed to $28. Sadly, I just can't do it anymore as much as I enjoy the food.
As someone with celiac, being able to go somewhere with good gluten free buns and a dedicated fryer is important, which is what made this one of my weekly dedicated spots. I love the fries, burgers are great, servers are always nice and know my order and it's a pretty laid-back atmosphere where I can escape my home office for an hour to eat and take a break. I knew many of the servers' names, knew the shift managers, and they knew my order without me having to say anything. Best kind of place to be! Despite all those positives, a near $10 increase is something I can't justify to myself for the same food I've been eating the whole time.
I have been here twice. The atmosphere is nice and they seem very accommodating, but the gluten free pasta is undercooked and both times I’ve been there I have been very sick after eating there.
Lots of gluten free options, their GF bread is not good though. It fell apart completely after two bites. Still, staff is great and the food was safe. 10 out of 10 recomend.
Food overall was delicious, albeit large plates were smaller portions than expected. Good gluten free accommodations. Flavor was great. Small plates were delicious and appreciated the unique flavors.
Stopped in for lunch on a weekday.
Service was quick but not rushed. I had the Veggie Korma which was gluten free and vegetarian. It was extremely flavorful and satisfying.
The masala chai was delicious and hot.
I’ll be back
I love this place and am here often. I have a book group once a month and come with friends and family. They even have gluten free now! Staff is accommodating even to my group. Food excellent- I like the grandmas pizza, eggplant rollatini and shrimp gambarhetti. Tuesdays 1/2 price bottles of wine night. Always a good time.
Our visit to Chick-fil-A in Holly Springs NC and again it was a very pleasant. The staff were very friendly and helpful. My wife
has an allergy to Gluten and many times restaurants are not able to accommodate, but Chick-fil-A has gluten free rolls and their fryers only fry the French fries and no breaded food in them, so she can enjoy them as well. The people are always very polite and enjoyable.
Ordered gluten free bun with burger and tater tots which were gluten free. Tater tots were excellent. Gluten free bun was the worst I have ever had. Fell apart and crumbled all over the plate. Burger was dry.
I have celiac disease and am lactose intolerant, having a delicious pizza that I can eat out is rare. Blaze Pizza has gluten free pizza crust and vegan cheese and it tastes awesome! I'm so happy to have somewhere close by that I can enjoy pizza.
Great food! One of my go to favorites. I especially appreciate how accommodating they are with ensuring our food is prepared safely for the members of our family who have Celiac.
Our first time at Freddy's was very pleasant. The music, food, and history of the establishment were wonderful experiences. I liked the shoestring fries, and my wife was able to get a lettuce wrapped cheese burger for herself( due to celiacs disease, she can't have gluten). We both tried the custard ice cream and enjoyed it as well. We are both looking forward to visiting there again.
