Amazing time and food. We were 3. Stayed away from the dips so that we didn’t have to segregate with normal pita and gf pita. 7 dishes split 3 ways and just gorgeous food. Felt very safe there after asking questions.
First experience was amazing, had the gluten free pizza crust and by far one of the best I've had. Returned a second time specifically for the good pizza to find out they had run out of the gluten free dough. Very upset, you shouldn't put something on the menu if you don't keep it in stock. This would have never happened with a regular dough. Extremely disappointed and will not return.

Super fun place, great food, great service. Had a blast. 100% Gluten Free. Huge, varied menu. Great cocktails, lots of flavours of margaritas. All serviced super fast, super friendly. Cannot wait for patio season to enjoy the food and drinks in the sun... but the interior is decorated very festively. I'll be back!

Sweet baby Jesus, I’ve been to Italy as my point of reference: this pizza was orgasmic. The truffle honey with the saltiness of the crisp pepperoni with the creamy mozzarella? A trifecta of goodness. The gluten free crust? So good I couldn’t tell it was GF. I’m not from Ottawa and this was a gem to discover. Bravo to the pizza nerds.
Service was phenomenal and so is the food. There were so many amazing gluten free options and the staff was happy to give recommendations… special shoutout to Lienna for the amazing service!
Serving staff were friendly and able to cater to both our dietary preferences. Notably were able to cater to my partner’s gluten free diet without any issues!
Great atmosphere and welcoming environment.
Recommend the thali and dosai dishes!
My wife and I went here about 2 weeks ago for a 5:30 reservation to celebrate my wife's retirement. I'll begin by noting that while the food was expensive it was very good and very interesting. We can only say good things about the food. However, we wouldn't have regretted paying what we did if we didn't feel rushed throughout our time there. Our server was nice and quite helpful but seemed like she needed to get right to it - even though we one of the first clients of the evening. As other reviews have noted the place is not bright and with the menu in Italian there was a need for us to understand what our options were - particularly since my wife is celiac and can't eat gluten. They were able to accommodate and while the explanations of the options were detailed and somewhat helpful, the rush with which they were given still left us somewhat confused.
While there was adequate time to savour the food between servings, we kept getting the feeling that we shouldn't be lingering. It just seemed like we were only allowed to have our seats in our chairs for a pre-determined amount of time. And that's what was the huge disappointment. When you go to a distinguished restaurant with high prices, you're not paying just for the unique food, you're also paying for the atmosphere and the ability to sit back and enjoy the whole experience. We didn't get that from North and Navy. I know they're a business, but they should seriously consider allowing/budgeting for their guests - and yes we are guests - to spend more time enjoying the experience North and Navy is offering. So, unfortunately we won't be back. There are too many other good restaurants in Ottawa that are willing to provide their customers with good food AND a relaxed experience.
This sort of care is what will keep me a longtime fan and customer. THANK YOU for taking my celiac seriously and seperating the items so that im not worried about cross contamination. Food is extra delicious when im not afraid it'll make me sick!
Attentive server, delicious food, and clean, comfortable interior. Had a gluten free Mexican breakfast burrito which came with a huge basket of gluten free tater tots! Friends ordered French toast and it was delish.
Great place to go with a mix of people when you have dietary restrictions in the group. They have vegan and gluten free options that are super delicious! Their drink menu is also great, they are always changing things up to have different food and drink options, you can go all the time and still have new things to try.
We went to the escape games and did expect much of the restaurant (though it was gonna be bar type style foods like burgers & deep fried things) but got amazingly surprised. Got the salmon and it was the perfect balance of salty pesto and sweet corn. Well cooked and very fresh! Staff was also very kind and friendly! My only recommendation would be to add a gluten free dessert like a creme brûlée would have fitted well with the menu.😬
Food: the vegan gluten-free carrot cake is good, the espresso-based drinks are not. The double espresso and decaf latte had an acidic taste and I could have made a better coffee at home.
Service: great employees, they showed me their gluten-free options and they brought the food to our table.
Atmosphere: beautiful Café with plants and the option to sit at barstools or regular tables. They didn't use AC (maybe because of the plants?) so we were a bit too hot. They also have a reading nook if you want to borrow a boardgame or a book to read. They played soft jazz music that was not loud, so you can still have a conversation.
Misc: you have to bring your used dishes near the counter once done. I didn't use the washrooms, so I can't comment.
I have had my fair share of different cuisines, but this was the first time I tried Burmese food. I was not disappointed and already cannot wait to return.
Rangoon has excellent gluten free and vegetarian options (I am a carnivore but the squash and eggplant packed as much flavour as the meat dishes), many unique flavours, and some of the most tender chicken I have ever had.
Each dish was as fresh as could be. The owner and chef, who were extremely kind and welcoming, even went to the extent of recommending we change one of our choices to a dish they believed to be a better option (the Shan style noodle dish - a must-have).
I sincerely hope Rangoon gains more traction because this is one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in Ottawa! Can’t wait to go back and try more dishes! Why are you still reading this? Go eat at Rangoon!
We dined with two toddlers and Marco and his team made sure we were comfortable at all times. There patio is spacious and perfect for a summer evening’s dinner. Let’s talk about the real deal though- the gluten free #notFoccacia bread is next level. Absolutely tasty and everything someone who has a GF preference would dream of. Highly recommend checking this place out.
My partner and I had our first experience at Arlo this past weekend while visiting Ottawa. To say it was incredible would be an understatement - from the energy when you first walk in the door to the final bite of dessert, the entire experience was one we won't be forgetting anytime soon. The service was absolutely above and beyond (Chelsea, you made our evening!) and the food was FOOLISHLY tasty. I'm Celiac, and felt more than accommodated and safe to eat here. The appetizers were so innovative, the mains were succulent, and the crispy squash for dessert was unreal. You can tell the people who own and manage the restaurant really know what they want to highlight. We'll be frequenting Ottawa in 2022, and are looking forward to our next experience at Arlo!
Exceptional food, excellent service. The place is a bit of a hole in the wall. Ordering is a bit sketchy because the menu is minimalist, but wow the food is delicious.
My partner loved the gluten-free rice bowl she ordered.
