I ate a gluten-free pizza which costs an extra 3500 CRC but was delicious. I ask for contamination. They said, they cook it in the same oven, but they’ll clean the tray and everything. So I ate it and had no symptoms afterwards. It also came on a wooden plate, which is also a contamination risk, but for me it was fine that day. Maybe they use these plates only for the gluten-free pizzas.
The staff was really friendly and explained everything with patience.

I was happy to find out there was a The Open Kitchen in Monteverde after I went in La Fortuna. The food is perfect. They offer gluten free bread and its the only place so far where they have coconut milk for latte!

After trying all the coffee in town, they definitely have the best drinks. Overall, little pricier than other places since they up-charge for dairy free alternatives and gluten free bread but it’s worth it.
They have ~lots~ of gluten free options but they let me know they are not celiac friendly since it’s all made in the same kitchen. I am on the lower end (weak positive) of the tTG-IgA scale so I haven’t had many issues with minimal amounts of cross contamination, so if you are the same as me I highly recommend the almond flour coconut chocolate chip cake!

Nice people who speak great English. Super fast delivery! But the food was not great. We ordered pizzas, some regular ones and some gluten-free/vegan ones. This place is a must-visit in Monteverde (even with the trek) don’t miss out!!! The food was INCREDIBLE!! It was also great because they were gluten-free friendly! We had the Senda Soup, Pork Chop, Beef Tenderloin and gluten free Churros for dessert and all of it was immaculate. We don’t have any notes, truly. 10/10 recommend for food alone, but on top of that, the service was incredible - very kind, funny and personable staff (Edwin was our server)! The atmosphere was lovely and relaxing and just all around great. The price is higher but it’s definitely worth it!
