It's some of the best gluten free pizza I've had. We loved it and should have ordered a pizza to go.
Husband got the black crust pizza, and he loved his as well.
It was very busy but moved pretty quickly.
Bathrooms were clean.
Parking lot fills up.
I would HIGHLY suggest stopping here.
Had a fantastic gf meal (ordered the gf pasta with mushrooms, ham and Alfredo sauce). We have been traveling for 17 days and it was top 2 meal of my trip!
After a long walk and exhausted by the biting wind of Reykjavik in December, we went to a small place called Reykjavik chips of which I had already read reviews in the preparatory phase of the trip and which I had asked if they served gluten free meals through an E-Mail. The place is small and not particularly furnished but it is warm and the scent as soon as you enter is inviting. At the average cost of 2500 isk, around 15 euros or a little more, they serve excellent burgers more or less stuffed with a side of french fries (classic or sweet) depending on your taste, also offering the option of a fish burger, or at the same price it is also possible to order a plate of fish and chips...Delicious and strictly Icelandic fish, just as good and tasty is the hamburger meat which has nothing to do with that of famous fast food chains...The crispy chips are good and salted to the right amount and included in a complete menu you will have a sauce to choose from among the many that the restaurant serves. Good lunch and fair price for Iceland. For children you will also find chicken nuggets. Advised.
As someone with Celiac Disease, eating in restaurants while travelling can be tricky. Reykjavik Kitchen was exceptional in every definition of the word. Not only was the service great, the meal (beef tenderloin) was mouth watering. The menu is clearly indicated GF where applicable and they had many options. I plan on coming back here several times as they have a few other traditional items I would like to try, such as lamb and meat soup. And they had GF bread with the delicious butter.
BEST FISH AND CHIPS IVE EVER HAD!!!!!!
I’m gluten free so I haven’t had much but this was AMAZING!!! And the fries were amazing even without sauce. The service was also amazing. We even got a great recommendation for an ice cream place that sometimes has gluten free cones (they didn’t this time but it was still great) and got talked into trying the shark meat. Even though it was rainy and cold, there’s a good atmosphere around the truck.

Very good cuisine😁, the dishes are neat and the taste is really there.
The waitresses are kind to explain to us based on a dietary restriction.
Quite expensive for a dish with 6 potatoes. The menu is quite short in choice and that's good because the fewer there are, the better the dish.
The desserts all look delicious but very few are gluten-free.
It was very busy and there were only about 6 tables.
Ordered a large milkshake to share and two burgers with fries. Our food was delivered, and our milkshake was forgotten. I went up to the counter, and the man asked what we had again. I said large chocolate, but when it he made it, he made a small. The table next to us said this is the large. I didn't feel like going back up there as my food was getting cold. The gluten free bun was good.
It was good, just disappointing.
Lovely, home-feel atmosphere with set vegetarian set lunches. A local place with hardly any tourists, which gives an authentic ambiance. Some gluten-free cakes and meal options. Small and cozy. But pricey... like anything in Iceland
Himalayan Spice is cozy and inviting with some of the best food and best service I've had in town. As a local, it's expensive to eat out so we when we do, we pick places where we know the food is fresh and delicious and where we will be well taken care of. That's why my group of friends all chose Himalayan Spice to have a dinner to kick off the holiday season.
The momo (house made dumplings) are always popular as a starter or a main course. This time I had chicken tika curry and it was as warm and rich as I had hoped it would be -- perfect for a wintry night!
We have a friend who is extremely sensitive to gluten and one nice thing is that she never has to worry when eating here -- you can let your server know about any food allergies or intolerances and they will take good care of you.
Highly recommend -- note there is an upstairs with good space to make big tables so larger groups are no problem. Be sure to book in advance!
Five stars across the board! Food was incredible, staff was delightful, and the kitchen was so accommodating for my dairy and gluten allergies. Had the lamb tartare, the arctic char, and the roast potatoes with chimmichuri. Honestly, wish I would have eaten dinner here also because it was so good.
Strongly recommend visiting if you’re looking for a fabulous bite to eat in a very nice environment.
This pizzeria alone would make us stay another night in Egilsstaðir. Properly outstanding pizza and my girlfriend got the gluten free base and tastes just like a regular base, which is very hard come by. Forgot to take pictures but there wasn’t even crumbs left on my plate!! Only suggestion I’d have is some extra choice in sides but can’t take stars away for that.
SO GOOD.
The Lobster Soup is a MUST TRY in Iceland. It’s celiac friendly and lactose free.
Good chunks of tender, melt in your mouth lobster. I will be dreaming of this soup for the rest of my life.
My mom had the shrimp skewer with sweet chili dip & potatoes which were also 10/10.
The chef was very accommodating and told me that almost everything on the menu could be made GF. I ordered the steak it was great and cooked to perfection. They cook my steak on a separate area and made sure to change gloves. The person taking my order wasn't sure about GF options but immediately went to ask the chef.
We entered cold and tired, we left reinvigorated and extremely full.
As a gluten-free option we could take the scampi and cream soup (good) and all the main dishes, i.e. the fish pans, absolutely great: generous portions and WOW flavours.
Informal but refined environment
Precise and kind service
Costs in line with the city
I am a symptomatic celiac and they were able to make potatoes in lieu of fries and served one of the best burgers I've had in a long time on a GF bun. My husband had a normal reindeer burger and said it was delicious! I would eat here again knowing I was well cared for the first time!
Service was great! Food was even better! As a celiac they were aware of myneeds and the menu clearly labeled. I was able to get a 3 course gf meal here. Very good choice.
We had an amazing experience. It’s been the best restaurant that we have tried until now in Iceland: amazing food with wide variety, gluten free options, very nice service and a beautiful place too. Plus, affordable prices. Couldn’t ask for more!
You have to come here. You Have To Come Here. YOU HAVE TO COME HERE!
They have one of the best (if not the best) fish soups I have had in my life❤️❤️❤️
If you’re celiac, they have specially prepared lamb or tomato soups. You can have as many lamb or tomato refills as you want. Their service is super friendly.
Prices are more than fair for Icelandic average. And, there were FREE Waffles?!!
I would give 6 stars if I could 🤩
Lovely location for a restaurant and the views from the tables are wonderful! We watched the sheep 🐑 play and feed all through our meal. My Artic Char was delicious and my husbands burger good but not exceptional. I was disappointed with their very limited Gluten Free options given most restaurants throughout Iceland have had several choices.

For anyone traveling with dietary restrictions - you have to go here! Second trip to Iceland and second trip to Tapas barinn. We took this trip with a different group of friends than our first trip and this was one of our only requirements as to where to eat and it did not disappoint anyone (and we set high expectations for this place). Most important thing for me was how amazing they handled my dietary restriction. I have celiac disease which can make eating out very difficult and I had absolutely no problems and did not feel like I was left out of any part of the dining experience and for those that have dietary restrictions, you know how this is very common. I didn't get sick at all, I was take very seriously, and they explained the protocols they would take. Every time they dropped of a plate they would say "gluten free tapas" so I knew they were handing me the right plate, enough to let me know but not over the top to make me feel uncomfortable. I had the chef's experience (last time I had the Taste of Iceland) along with my husband (who does not have a dietary restriction) and the changes they made to some tapas for me were no big deal at all, we both equally enjoyed our meals. Also, highly recommend the Taste of Iceland experience for first timers but the chef's experience was equally amazing, just think the Taste of Iceland is something everyone should try at least once. The overall atmosphere was amazing, staff could not have been friendly or more knowledgable of the menu. It is slightly pricey but 100% worth it. We did this as our "fancy" date night and we could not have asked for a better experience. Again, must go for anyone with a dietary restriction!
Gluten free friendly!
It's a lovely restaurant and it's great being able to watch the cows whilst having your meal. The burgers are amazing and they do gluten free bread for the burgers!
The ice cream is a must and is by far the best ice cream we have had!
Highly recommended!
Pizzas are not worth the money. We had both normal and gluten-free based pizzas. Spice Girls had potential, but the base just didn't taste at all. Also the extra fee for gluten-free base is a rip-off, probably a basic frozen base. I don't like to say it, but you might be happier just grabbing a hot dog with all toppings.
Had some of the best fries in Iceland and a great gluten free pizza. The pizza is large enough for two to share and have some left over. Very nice outside seating area and larger portions than typical in Iceland.

We stopped here to grab lunch before going in the Blue Lagoon. While the place is spacious, pretty and comfortable, staff friendly and food tasty, it was ultimately not a good choice. The pace was truly glacial - not sure if it's due to the server, the kitchen, or the restaurant being understaffed, but we spent over an hour for what was meant as a quick bite.
Our order included fish of the day, beef, and mashroon soup. Again, the food was very good, but simply not worth the wait.
There was gluten free bread and gf options on the menu available. They also have kids menu with kids-only dishes.
After the road, just such a little break. The yellow house attracts my curiosity, the place and the service are impeccable, the owners are super nice and helped me to eat gluten-free and a little extra because they know how to speak a little French. Even the pastries are gluten free or vegan.
P8The dishes are delicious😋, we can only give five stars to congratulate such an establishment!
A very pleasant place, very comfortable, not noisy!
They have a large interior on 2 floors and a beautiful terrace!
Stop for a break 😁😁
I felt like the menu was created just for me! Gluten free, potato free, good spice, loads of veggies and creative menu that didn’t default to potatoes- this last detail is actually the most magical- everywhere we went it was a challenge to find veggies that were not potato. Fantastic flavors and super satisfying- wish we could have brought this restaurant home!
One of the best restaurants in Reykjavik. The cod is very tasty. Great mix of tastes for the senses. The only negative thing is I think the portion are a tiny bit small. The chef can adapt meals to be gluten free.
Ate dinner here a few times during our stay in Reykjavik, lovely food and service.
Pizza's we're offered on Gluten Free bases, safely ate here as a Coeliac.
If you get the chance to visit this tomato, please do. Absolutely gorgeous greenhouses, lunch served right inside among the plants. Staff was kind enough to give a tour. Gluten free bread available with the soup but is not guaranteed to be free from contamination, so they do offer a very filling salad as an alternative. One of the best lunches I've ever had, such a unique experience.
Nice place they have gluten-free options but obviously can not guarantee cross contamination, but they do try and make an effort. Food was delicious and the staff was friendly and helpful.
Best cappuccino we’ve had during our trip in Iceland! The homemade almond-lemon-pear-cake (gluten free) and apple pie were lovely. We extended our visit with the soup of the day: coconut-Christmas spices. Very tasty! They have great service for individuals as well as large groups.
