We stopped for an aperitif made with artisanal Campari and an excellent tasting plate. Welcomed by the warmth of the place and the friendly staff, we then also ordered an excellent platter of cold cuts. The tavern is detail-oriented, inclusive and full of art. It is also possible to taste vegan and gluten-free dishes. Absolutely recommended!

I recently dined at Nonna Nini, located near Piazza del Comune in Assisi, and it was absolutely delicious—one of the best meals I have ever eaten. The restaurant offers a unique blend of Indian and Italian cuisine, resulting in complex flavors that are both subtle and strong. One of the highlights for me was their accommodating menu, which includes gluten-free options and completely vegan dishes. Unlike many places where you have to ask for modifications, their vegan offerings are thoughtfully crafted without needing to request the removal of cheese or other non-vegan ingredients. The chef is super friendly and clearly passionate about the food. The experience leans towards fine dining, but the atmosphere remains casual and relaxed. The service and ambiance were both great, making the entire experience enjoyable. My only minor disappointment was the lack of vegan dessert options. Overall, Nonna Nini is a fantastic spot for anyone looking to explore a fusion of Indian and Italian flavors, whether you have dietary restrictions or not.

Very small gluten-free menu. Very slow and inconsistent service. The quality of the food was not excellent, one plate of pasta was overcooked, another was brought in a different format than the one requested without warning of the change, in addition to this it was flooded with oil.

I had called to get clarification on gluten-free products, asking if the kitchens were separate and if they used deglutinated products. They answered yes to the first question and that in the kitchen the flours used were naturally gluten-free. When we arrived there, we found it written on the menu that the oven used for the pizzas was the same and that they did not guarantee non-contamination. The lady who served us, with neither kind nor cordial manners, pointed out to us that for the gluten-free pasta it would take time because they had to prepare everything separately (really???). We ordered a caprese and pointed out that it was for one of the two celiac people, the lady got annoyed saying that she knew that the tomato and mozzarella were gluten-free (and two, come on), in reality we were just making it clear to be careful not to touch the same hands that had served bread or pizza. Almost embarrassing pizzas, only the bruschetta and the homemade (white) supplì were saved. I wonder why make a gluten-free option when they don't even know what they're talking about but above all why not tell the truth on the phone. Prices below average. Nice place.

The experience was positive for the quality of the food, so much so that we returned the next day. The place is nice, but the tables are too close together. The service focuses on quantity and speed, so it is not the ideal place for a relaxing dinner. Positive note: it is possible to request gluten-free bread and pasta.

We had dinner in this excellent restaurant two days ago. The food was really delicious and there is a large selection of different dishes. Many are also gluten-free upon request. The service was good. The owner is very friendly and attentive. It was a great experience. One of the best restaurants in Assisi.

I was passing through for lunch with two of my peers, excellent location, wonderful welcome and truly professional and nice staff. We sat down around 1.30pm, time to order and the dishes and drinks arrived immediately (we left a few minutes after 2.30pm). We started with an excellent appetizer of mixed cured meats and cheeses accompanied by a very good pear sauce, as a second course we chose Strascinati di cascia, fresh sausage, bacon, egg, pecorino, lemon zest and Sichuan pepper and to end in style a shortcrust tartlet with custard, small fruit, raspberry jam and Italian meringue and a revisited tiramisu given that one of us is intolerant to gluten free, everything was really good, compliments to the kitchen, they have excellent hands and a lot of passion. The super prepared, friendly and pleasant waiter is ready to provide any advice and information if necessary. The owners are also very nice, I thank the staff for giving me the opportunity to taste the gluten-free variants. Ample parking, covered tables outside, well-kept tables, reasonable prices. We will be back!! I recommend it!
