Came here before a show. My wife is celiac and cannot eat anything with or contaminated with gluten. The menu used to clearly tell us what was GF, no more. Only mentioned vegetarian options. This is unacceptable for a restaurant like this. Our waitress tried to help with the choices but it was very limited. I don’t understand how a restaurant like this still fries other things in the same oil as the fries for example. In 2025, in the middle of downtown Montreal, it’s very sad. It was our 2nd upsetting experience at this place in less than 1 year. We will not return. The braised beef I had was also below the expectations, used to be much much better. I received my french onion soup with my main plate! Who does that? I could see my soup under the counter for a good 10 min, doesn’t make sense.

We had an amazing brunch here! The avocado toast (with perfectly poached eggs) and steak and eggs were amazing and the cocktails were on point. Maeva’s service was awesome and she was so sweet to bring us a little treat to help me celebrate my birthday. For the gluten free folks out there, they do have gluten free bread and were very accommodating of my allergy. I would definitely come back!

The Cherrier café never disappoints in terms of atmosphere. However, I am disappointed with their offering of gluten-free options. For dinner, even the warm goat's cheese salad couldn't be made gluten-free, since 'all the goat's cheese had already been pre-assembled on a crust'. I found my second choice, the mussels marinière, ordinary. So were the fries that came with them. Finally, I think that a place like Café Cherrier can afford to keep a small quantity of gluten-free sliced bread, frozen, in order to be able to offer some to its customers upon request (just as they serve the baguette at the start of the meal to the majority of customers). I understand that fresh gluten-free bread doesn't store well, but keeping some frozen is a very affordable option, and it would make all the difference for customers who have a very frustrating food allergy!
