At dinner at the Great Room. Food and service were amazing. It was our anniversary and they treated us so well. Also great options if gluten free as well as for kids.
We've been here twice in the last two years and very much enjoyed our stay both times. The service is great, the beds/bedding so comfortable, and the bathrooms are fantastic - you can enjoy a deep soak tub and then peer through a bathroom window that looks out over your room's view. The forest view is lovely but this last time we had an ocean view and it was especially enchanting as we could still enjoy the ocean as the moonlight danced across the water. Lots of great beach and walking paths nearby, even into town so you can get amenities or enjoy local businesses. Also so pet friendly! They even supplied bowls, bedding and treats for furry companions, and there's an easy to access dog wash station. Spa was also high quality service and the Currents restaurant was great at accommodating for celiac disease.
We visited Pluvio in Ucluelet a couple of weeks ago for the Chef’s Tasting Menu with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic pairings, and it was hands down the best dining experience we’ve ever had.
What stood out was how beautifully the team accommodated my partner’s vegetarian and gluten-free dietary restrictions. Often, that can mean a compromised menu, but not at Pluvio. Every dish was thoughtfully crafted and just as impressive as the standard menu.
The food itself? Phenomenal. Each course brought something new to the table, showcasing locally sourced ingredients in the most inventive and delicious ways. Everything was beautifully plated, full of surprising flavours, and consistently spot-on. The pacing was perfect, and the pairings, both with and without alcohol, elevated the entire experience.
If you’re looking for a special night out where every detail is considered and the food is truly unforgettable, Pluvio is a must. We can’t wait to go back.
We had a delightful suite with a fabulous view. The suite was roomy with a jacuzzi overlooking the water and a sitting area. The bed was comfy. And the bath had a large marble shower. The front desk folks were efficient and very friendly.
We had our anniversary dinner at the Alpina, the on-site restaurant. It was fabulous. Everything was fresh, beautifully served, and delicious. They even have gluten-free options. Our waitress was attentive and made several excellent recommendations. Desert was divine. Definitely a great place to have a special dinner.

We love the inn, the kids especially enjoy the milk shakes - they are yummy and beyond generous I size. Great food selection even for gluten free, and the service is on the spot.
Excellent cocktails, and they have greatly expanded their gluten free options since I was here last!

Some of my favorite Fairmont rooms, having stayed at many different Fairmonts the rooms are spacious, the bathtubs are amazing!
Restaurant was a bit of a letdown in comparison to other Fairmont Hotel, restaurants and lounges, the restaurant could use a facelift. It seems very dated. Food was just okay for dinner. Everything seemed to have an overly charred taste to it. Cocktails were also a letdown in comparison to the other Fairmont locations, cocktails were uninteresting, and poorly balanced in flavor. Also enjoyed breakfast. Breakfast was more enjoyable. Things were well cooked and they have a dedicated gluten-free fryer.
We went here for afternoon tea. During our three days, we went to three different places for afternoon tea. This tied for first with another place. It was first for atmosphere by far! It tied for first for the tea, and it tied for first for food (first for regular, second for gluten-free). Service was first by a long way!
Everything about our visit was wonderful! The gold room and experience was fantastic, the staff were excellent and especially helpful with our gluten allergy. We would stay here again and again.

We made a last minute decision to go out for dinner on Christmas night. The Hume accommodated us without a reservation. I had a veggie burger which was excellent. I notice that they have a large gluten free menu, as well as many vegan and vegetarian options. A relatively mainstream setting with great food options for everyone.

They have many gluten free options and take time and effort to be careful. Service is always good and friendly and the patio is comfy and inviting. Authentic greek salad is large and delicious as are the pizzas.
Beautiful spot, excellent and friendly service. Eager to accommodate gluten allergy. Incredible view. The owner does the little extra to create a memorable experience.
Came here with someone who has celiac disease as there are lots of gluten free options available on the menu. Ordered a burger with the gluten free bun and our server was familiar with celiac and ensured he entered the order as an allergy. This made us feel confident that when the burger arrived it would be gluten free. After eating about half we realized it was not. Celiac is a very serious disease and even trace amounts of gluten can cause severe sickness, let alone half a burger bun. We accept and understand the risks of cross contamination but to be given the completely wrong item when an allergy was specified is completely unacceptable.
Again, this was NOT the servers fault as he did what he could to note down all allergies, it seemed there was lots of poor communication and procedures happening in the kitchen as we had a problem with another menu item arriving with half the ingredients missing as well. We did get our meal comped which is appreciated but the damage was already done and we had to leave immediately to make it home before the symptoms started to kick in.
If a restaurant seems to market themselves as allergy friendly with their menu they need to take allergies much more seriously as it can cause severe harm to people eating here.
My spouse and I went to Kingfisher to celebrate an anniversary, and it was a lovely time. The romance suite was comfortable and well-suited to a nice time with a partner. The view was incredible, and the grounds, while small, are beautiful and really nice to spend time in.
The room was a bit central, so a bit loud with other guests celebrating in groups, but most people respected the quiet hours.
The building looks a little dated when you arrive, but the interior. grounds, spa and restaurant are all updated, well-maintained and very pleasant.
The hydropath experience at the spa was lovely - very relaxing, mostly fairly private, and full of variety.
Dinner at Oceans7 was fantastic. Staff did a great job of taking care of our food restrictions (my husband wasn't glutened, which is always a treat when dining out). The food and drinks weren't cheap, but they were all delicious.
Also - this isn't the resort's doing, but Courtney and Comox have some very nice shopping and aren't far at all, assuming you don't fill your hours with spa activities.

This place is wonderful. Live music and a decent menu (celiacs rejoice!) keeps us coming back on our annual Hornby Island vacation.

We went to a party that was catered here. The food was passable but definitely a disappointment. The beef swam in a mushroom au jus. The turkey swam in some type of au jus as well. Pass on both.
The pasta seemed like it was similar to cardboard. Maybe it was gluten free, but it was not delicious.
The service was clumsy but the help tried. I think that lack of training could be the reason for their failure.
The waiters and buss people were friendly.
Actually the dead giveaway was probably the greeting or non-greeting by a manager when we asked where the Christmas party was. Totally indifferent.
If I was planning a party I would highly dissuade someone from doing it here.

Went to an event in their banquet room and was served a delicious 3 course meal to my specification of being a gluten free meal. Normally when I attend events like this, I am served only what is gluten free from a select menu. QBI made sure I had a complete meal, like everyone else. I was impressed and pleasantly surprised. Look forward to our monthly gathering at QBI.
No matter what you're here for, you will get only the best.
The breakfast was so good I had the same thing three times, I'd suggest the basic breakfast (mostly for the bacon), but they have veggie, and gluten free options, as well as gluten full freshly baked baked goods.
The rooms are new, clean and come with a decent in-room coffee, but you're gonna wanna skip that and go to the cafe, because Jags makes an amazing Americano (or Canadiano for those that want even more kick). Ask him about the machine!
Last but not least is the staff and service there. Always a smile and going the extra mile to make sure everything is just right for your stay, meal or coffee.
Really, I can't say enough. Thanks Jags.
