We dined at Mirchi for the first time last night. We love Indian food and Mirchi didn't disappoint. The food was fabulous and as a bonus is organic, gluten free and most dishes can also be made dairy free. For those watching their carbs, broccoli & cauliflower rice is available. Spicy, delicious and not rich. Our service was excellent. We'll be back!
Naim is a middle eastern cafe located in a bustling area of Paddington. It has many vegan options. They provide a few menu options that can be gluten free - they came up on GF Brisbane on Instagram. I wasn't sure if they were coeliac safe but I don't think I reacted to the food. I just wish communication was better.
I sat inside and ordered a chai on almond milk (~$5.50) and the falafel wrap GF. I asked what was the halloumi alternative and the waiter went to check for me. While she was away, another staff came to check if I needed to order, which was nice but I explained that I was already being attended to.
I ordered the wrap and asked for it to be GF for a coeliac. The girl didn't read the order back to me. When I received it, it wasn't read out/described back to me so I felt anxious about eating it. I had the food with additional Zhug and it was quite spicy but delicious. The wrap did kind of fall apart all through the paper, I kinda wish it had been packaged a bit differently, there was sauce everywhere and they kinda skimped on the falafel frankly. My first few bites from the centre were just sauce and bread.
Together including the coffee, it was about $30ish. I enjoyed the food but I probably just would appreciate more communication about the order and safety. If something is toasted, is it toasted whilst wrapped? Or nah?
Love this spot! Excellent quality food, great service, love the vibes. Highly recommend. I’ve been a fan for years and they nail it every time and great to see the menu expanded. Always a treat to eat in too. Excellent options for gluten free.
We enjoyed a Galentines Day high tea at Sassfrass recently. There was so much delicious food that we had to take some home with us. My daughter, who is a coeliac, said her gluten free option was very tasty too. The owner took the time to explain what was on the plates, so many excellent choices. We are definitely keen to come back again
Food was hit and miss. Didn't seem very organised/understanding with how to make their options gluten free even though it was on the menu. Super uncomfortable with no air con or fans on.
The burgers are sensational! The eggplant burger is to die for. I have coeliac and the gluten free burger buns are delicious which as any coeliac knows is a hard find. The breakfasts are also amazing. The poached eggs are cooked perfectly, not too runny, not too hard.
O my gosh ! Where has this place been all my life? Actually where have I been all this time?
Great food and intimate atmosphere. Fairly casual and comfy feel. I went there two nights in a row. Both for my birthday with different members of the family.
There was no special birthday song or greetings - I think they seem to be focused on getting good food to you with minimal fuss.
I tried the gluten free pizza and the base was marvelous. I had the salmon too - very good. I also tried my people’s food - pasta , meatballs and regular crust pizza. All great.
I ordered a coeliac safe burger and when it was brought out, the waiter wasn’t happy with it and told us it might be contaminated. He went back and brought us another fresh one. We are grateful for their caution and care. The burger was also the best gluten free burger I’ve ever had.
My favourite brunch in Brisbane!! Always really hard for me to go past the smoked paprika breakfast, which is to die for. Tried the breakfast burger which was awesome. Plus it came with halloumi chips - how good! Staff are very friendly and also very accommodating to my grandmother with her gluten allergy and specific coffee order. Thanks!
Gluten-Free fail - their gluten-free option uses vermicelli noodles. Not very authentic or practical for broth because they're so slippery. Come on guys it's not too hard to get some gluten-free noodles😢
Absolutely delicious food, and an incredible range! The menu is refreshed regularly, and we drive an hour over to enjoy the many gluten free options. Strongly recommend stopping by for a fabulous lunch and the best coffee you've ever tasted.
Lovely staff and even better food.
Generous portions and gluten free options that are actually gf, so I don't need to worry about getting sick. Perfect!
I'm glad I finally visited Emily Yeoh. After seeing the chilli crab online, I was eager to taste their menu. We came as a big group and service was fast and the dishes were all consistently delicious.
We ordered the -
Duck spring rolls - absolutely delicious!
Aburi salmon and calamari toast - a nice twist on the classic prawn toast. We all loved this dish. Although noting that the salmon wasn't seared, but more aged or cured. Still delicious anyway.
Edamame - this wasn't your basic edamame, this had chilli oil on it that made our mouth water
Sambal chicken - this dish was tender and yummy. The sambal wasn't overpowering, but this dish could have done with some chilli spice.
Seasonal veges - can't go wrong with some sesame oil and soy sauce bakchoy.
Laksa fried rice - a great combination of flavours!! Will try to recreate this at home.
Black pepper beef - we were expecting something totally different, and this came out more like a thinly sliced, fried honey beef.
Chow mein - yummy but can't remember much about it.
Singapore chilli mudcrab - we were hoping for something that reminded us of home. But this dish was definitely more sweet, and not spicy at all. The sauce still did go well with rice. And we wished there were mantous!
Overall, I highly recommend this place for group bookings as you can try more dishes. They all tasted different and didn't just have the same sauce base, and the textures were all interesting and well balanced.
Surprisingly, the restaurant was pretty quiet for a weekend lunch.
There is parking behind and below the complex. The menu also has a lot of dairy free, gluten free and vegetarian options.
We spent about $54 each on food (not including drinks). Very good value for quantity and quality!
