This is my absolute favorite bakery. Great Gluten free sweets and savory. Amazing hot drinks. And my body feels good after eating these high quality treats. Highly recommend.
This place is awful when it comes to service and timing. We come here all the time bc they serve gluten free and I have never been here when they didn’t scree up our order. It has taken 45 minutes to get a slice of cheese pizza on a slow day. We’ve waited an hour for dinner while people come and go after us, only to find out they forgot our order. I regret coming here every time. They just told us it would be 15 minutes for our order or 2 slices of regular (not gf) pizza and it’s been 40 min. We’re done. Even though pizza is good, it’s not worth the wait.
I dropped in for a quick Burger before a local HS sporting event. It was around 6:30 PM, so they were fairly busy. I ordered a basic bacon-cheese burger & fries, with a gluten-free bun, which made the burger. The burger was good, if a bit dry, but tasty. The fries were overcooked for my taste, but all in all, it was a good quick drop-in.
Know before you go! This place has false advertising with their menu. I ordered what I thought was a plate because it was under the plate section of the menu, and instead all I got was a tiny wrap. When I asked about it the girl (who was just awful and felt like I was talking to a rock) said “you asked for the wrap” and I said yes, the wrap plate like it’s listed on the menu. Not only that, but it was the gluten free wrap that I requested and they charged so much more even though it’s barely the size of the half wrap but they charged for a full-size wrap which was a total rip-off! Yes the food is good, but not even close to being worth the price with their false advertising. Won’t be going back
We had a wonderful dinner here when we stayed a night in Grass Valley. The food was absolutely delicious (Super fresh seafood too!) and the servers were really great, especially catering to gluten-free options. Will definitely visit again when we are in town next!!
Great pizza and salad. The pizza crust was fresh and just a little crisp on the bottom, just how I like it. Lots of toppings on the pioneer, which is their version of a combo. The salad was very fresh. We added chicken to the salad and they gave plenty! The balsamic vinaigrette was tasty. I'll have to say the salads have gotten much better than in the past. Staff are friendly and helpful. We also order for pick-up every so often, and have tried most of the pizzas. All have been good. They also have a gluten free cauliflower crust that is good.
Dog friendly, huge menu, friendly employees.
We sat outside on their huge patio. They brought water out for our dog.
I ordered my favorite, the croissant club sandwich. It was chock full of perfectly shaved turkey, thick crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato (red and full of flavored, not those anemic tomatoes with zero flavor), and the Goldie Locks amount of mayo. I ordered my sandwich with a side order of sweet potato fries which were delightfully cooked to perfection, creamy on the inside and crisp on the outside.
My cousin had the reuben on gluten free bread. I can't go into the same detail as I did in my description above, but I will tell you my cousin ate the entire sandwich. She was spoiled for choice when ordering due to the gluten free option. She had not had a Reuben sandwich in, forever, and was not disappointed with the choice she made. She ate the entire thing!
As a treat, my husband and I hit up SPC every other month or so for brunch. We get there early-ish and sit at the bar. My usual is either the lobster or mushroom Benedict with a side of fruit (worth the upcharge IMO) and the "green drink" while my hubby prefers the chorizo Benedict and a red beer.
The music is usually good, as is the service. The menu offers a wide variety of entrees made with fresh ingredients. I have to avoid gluten and wish they had a bread substitute available so I could have their Olallieberry French toast (I avoid the Benedict's English muffin). The employees appear to be happy here, which is refreshing. Fun mimosa flavors, a coffee bar, and fresh-squeezed juice options available. It was $70 for the both of us (including tip), but like I said - it's a treat and we want to support this awesome business! ☕ 🍳

I would love to leave a glowing review, but I can’t in good conscience recommend this restaurant to anyone has any kind of food allergy or sensitivity. I have been here twice recently with different family members, and it’s been really disappointing. While the food is tasty for me, my family who have severe gluten intolerance had a very different experience. For one, they have exactly ONE item on the menu they deem gluten-free… so okay, no big deal, this is the item they order. Absolutely no alternatives are offered or suggested - just oh you’re gluten-free? You can get this one dish. But okay, we’re not that picky.
I have just learned that on trip one, my family heard them openly mocking that something gluten-free was ordered, overheard from the kitchen. Very rude and unprofessional. I understand that not everyone who claims to have a problem with gluten may have an actual issue, but that’s not for restaurant staff to speculate on. It made for a very uncomfortable atmosphere for my family member.
On the second visit, it was much worse. Same treatment as far as one dish only… made it very clear to the waiter that they can’t have gluten, and he obviously understood and recommended the same thing as before. When we received the dish, however, it was presented with fried rice and an egg roll… both very clearly not gluten-free. We flag the waiter down, and enquire just in case, and he tells us “oh yeah, those are not safe” and… walks away??? It’s on the same plate. No offer to comp, replace, anything… just a “yeah don’t eat that I guess” sort of attitude. It’s worth mentioning that this was plated entirely differently than the other visit too… on visit one, they put a side of regular steamed white rice, and no roll.
So roughly half the plate my guest could not eat this time. Fortunately, she only has a moderate gluten sensitivity and was able to work around it, though she admitted it didn’t taste very good. Guest one wasn’t crazy about the dish, either. Had it been my father eating there, and had this been presented to him and he’d eaten any of it, he would have been throwing up for hours after, because his issues with it are far more severe.
They do not take food sensitivities or allergies at all seriously here, and it’s very sad to see. It is otherwise a nice restaurant and we had previously enjoyed it. A year ago, they did have more options my family could enjoy, and they were excited about eating there again. The lack of consideration will force us to dine elsewhere.
It was a shock to find out I was gluten sensitive as an adult. So going to an Italian restaurant doesn't sound like a smart choice for someone like me. However, Sergio's Caffe has filet mignon with mashed potatoes and veggies on their menu. It is a tasty meal. They have fish dishes, salads, and other possible choices for people with food sensitivities. That is why I continue to go back.
These guys have the best gluten free pizza in Grass Valley. The garlic chicken bacon artichoke pizza pairs well with the mediterranean salad. It is nice to take it home to bake, eat it hot out of the oven with a side salad and a glass of wine.
Great Thai experience...many many gluten free options, including Pad Thai! Wait staff are very helpful, friendly and available for service. Highly recommend...looking forward to returning soon. :)
We were lucky to get a table. The food was excellent and there are plenty of gluten free options. The salmon risotto was perfect and the lasagna had meat chunks, like Nonna used to make it. We will be back!
We really enjoy this restaurant. We always experience great service, and if I was less terrible with names, I would specifically point out the guy who serves us most often in the bar by name (I think he's a manager? Or bar manager?). He's really great. The food is always delicious. I love that they carry real gluten free beer (not just gluten removed, which they also have) and do a great job of making sure a GF order is as clean as possible in a non GF kitchen. Highly recommend.
Log cabin picnic like ambiance, firestove was nice. Small place. Food i had was good, group liked theirs. Please add gluten free buns and it'll be accommodating to all!
