The food, service, and outdoor dining ambiance were all fantastic. We came here for dinner because it's close to my moms place in MDR and they allow her to bring her emotional support dog on the patio. I would come back again for all the other reasons. In addition, I'm gluten-free, and they were very accommodating! One of the items I had was gluten-free pasta (I always ask for cooked well=soft) with their pesto cream sauce as a side. Very delicious!
Great pizza, especially the gluten-free pizza, which tastes like the real deal. Friendly employees but not very cosy, to find the small minus point. Thanks to Liam for the free refill of the sodas!
We had a delicious gluten free pizza here, and it was celiac safe too! The hostess and server were knowledge about celiac, and they assured me everything is prepared separately with separate utensils. I appreciate their care in making sure this was a safe and delicious meal for me. We will come again for sure!
Very good and tasty food, the bartender was really nice.
We ordered a Gluten Free burguer and salad, and they were amazing. It was around 45$ in total.
They also had a few options for Gluten Free cheesecakes.
I do recommend it.
Located near the Venice Pier, The cow’s end has nothing but a pleasant smell of coffee and delicious food. :)
We stopped here for coffee and because they had gluten-free options on the menu, my wife got a gluten-free avocado toast and a gluten-free donut to go. The staff was very friendly and you could tell this is a place that locals and visitors alike spend time and enjoy the ambience.
When we were there, we met friendly dogs and local people.
Dean has made our experience here at yard house incredible. He has gone above and beyond to
cater to our gluten free needs. He has been very patient and very knowledgable. He has given us 5 star service and because of him we will become regulars. His smile is infectious and his positivity is unparallel.
I met a friend here for breakfast. It’s a cute little spot! The menu has hot breakfasts, salads, açaí bowls, and smoothies.
I had the breakfast bowl which isn’t marked as gluten free but is indeed gluten free. It was great!! Next time I’d ask for my eggs scrambled just because it’s hard to sop up all that yolk-y goodness without bread. But overall, very happy with my breakfast. I also got the Jasmine green tea and they gave me a FAT wad of tea which is awesome.
This place is fantastic. Food is amazing with beautiful views of the marina. Went for an anniversary dinner and was treated to amazing service and a beautiful sunset while we ate. Lots of gluten free food options for anyone needing GF. Highly recommended for a special occasion or just a great meal.
ALLERGIES BEWARE! I go to Mendocino at least once usually twice a week. I always order a GF sandwich and I make sure to tip 15%-20% even tho I do pickup because I make it clear it's an allergy and I know some extra precautions are required. However, today I noticed while watching them make my sandwich that they were switching between gluten sandwich and my sandwich without changing gloves. I went up to manager and pointed it out and they went and told the kitchen staff to remake it. Kitchen staff weren't happy to redo it (they were cursing me out in Spanish) to say the least and it ended up taking another 10 minutes to make the replacement. Overall, tho I appreciate them redoing, there was no apology and it's very frustrating because I know if I don't watch them then I could end up with an allergic reaction and very sick.
This seems to be the only Mendocino store with this problem. Would love to hear from management how they will prevent this in the future because this is the third time in a couple months at this location despite my clear instructions to the person at register to notate serious allergy. And never an apology and I always get told off even tho I pay extra both in GF bread and in tip to make sure my order is done safely so I don't get sick.
Baja Cantina brings the Baja experience to life with vibrant music, flavorful food, and a laid-back atmosphere that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled into a beachside celebration. Located on the Venice side of Washington and established in 1975, this spot offers more than just a meal—it offers a whole vibe, especially on Saturday nights when live music electrifies the space.
From the start, things moved quickly with seating (only a one-minute wait), but the service afterward slowed down. Ordering took about 14 minutes, water didn’t arrive until the 24-minute mark, and food was served after 21 minutes. The staff, while knowledgeable and genuinely kind, seemed a bit overwhelmed. Only one check-in occurred between the delivery of water and food, leaving me wondering whether they were understaffed or simply overlooked a solo diner.
Despite the service hiccups, the food and atmosphere delivered. The complimentary handmade nachos were warm, crisp, and lightly seasoned, paired with a fresh salsa that hit all the right notes—lime, cilantro, onion, and just the right kick from Serrano peppers. Though the salsa wasn’t initially brought with the nachos, it was promptly delivered upon request.
The fish tacos had a great flavor profile but were a touch dry—perhaps a drizzle of crema or a bit more slaw would balance them out. On the other hand, the nachos I ordered were the real standout: layered perfectly with guacamole, sour cream, cilantro, and onions, they had the ideal mix of flavor and texture without going overboard.
The ambiance was a highlight. Baja Cantina’s clean, open layout paired with an eclectic and diverse crowd created an energetic and fun environment—definitely a spot that shines with a bit of company on a lively Saturday night. The prices were fair, the menu options were extensive, and it was great to see gluten-free options available.
Suggestions for Improvement:
• Improve wait times for basic service like water.
• Ensure staff checks in more consistently, even with solo diners.
• Consider adding a touch more moisture to the fish tacos to elevate their texture.
• Bring salsa automatically with nacho orders.
Overall, Baja Cantina is a place worth visiting if you’re in the mood for good food, great music, and a bit of a beachside groove. Just come with a little patience—or better yet, bring some good friends and enjoy the vibe together.
1st timer visiting the bestie. Was in need of some really good soup for losing my voice and found this gem!
Since 1994 was all I kept seeing and let’s say that broth proved why they have been around for so long! DELICIOUS broth!
GLUTEN FREE noodles - rice noodles. Ordered two different ramens gluten free to go and enjoyed a hot green tea while I waited.
PARKING IS TERRIBLE - it’s a small lot and very hard to park but hopefully you find a spot.
The ramen is worth it.
Opens at 5pm - could get packed.
A quant little coffee shop/ pier side restaurant. Gluten free and vegan options available.
Feels straight out of Europe. With some of the best drip coffee my boyfriend and I have ever had.
Will definitely be visiting again
As a person with celiac, I was really excited to try this restaurant. I spoke to the person at the front. He told me the sandwiches were gluten-free, including the bun and he told me the french fries were not gluten-free. I took him out his word when I got home and I looked at the nutritional information I realize that was mixed up —according to the nutritional information the french fries ARE gluten-free And the bun is not gluten-free !! I really wish that they had this information clear on the menus and on the order boards in the front, that would be really helpful and the staff needs to be updated. Not cool!
Great food and service, owners are super nice and the meals are of good size. The full meal is recommended since it allows you to order many of the dishes in smaller size.
Very much celiac friendly, almost all menu is gluten free.
I’m gluten-free, but this pizza was so incredible that I don’t even care about the digestive effects. I always leave the crust from pizzas, even gluten-free ones, but I ate every last bite of this crust, which was perfection. My partner had the Pinwheel, which he said had a crazy amount of cheese. In addition to its New York-style pizzas, Pizzarito offers Sicilian deep dish pizza and a savoury pastry called a Stromboli. This is definitely my new go-to cheat spot.
