We were in the area and looking for somewhere tasty to go for lunch, and after seeing the reviews, we decided we wanted to come to blackies! Even though we were a walk in, they were able to accommodate us and accommodate us, they did. Most of the menu can be made GF, and there are pages, upon pages to this menu. Not only did I enjoy my meal (I got the French Onion Cheesesteak with Fries and it was SUPERB 🤌🏽), but my gluten eating family also had a meal. My Dad even said it was the BEST Ruben he's ever had (and he loves a ruben). Since it was our first time there, our wonderful server was able to field all of my GF/Celiac-related questions with ease. The restaurant is owned by two lovely women: one of whom has Celiac. They have dedicated fryers, AND they have separate kitchen tools (knives, utensils, cutting boards, aprons, etc.) for the preparation of GF meals. On top of all that, my food was brought out FIRST and SEPARATELY. Our server even brought out a new bottle of ketchup with my food so that there wasn't any CC. I felt so well taken care of by the staff, and so safe while we were there, it was a new level of Celiac-care in this dining experience. I cannot more highly recommend blackies if you're ever in RI/Providence!!!

Having frequented the Westerly location several times, I finally made it to the Malted Barley's Providence outpost, and let me tell you, it didn't disappoint! Their pretzel sandwiches were even more delicious than I remembered, boasting perfectly chewy pretzel buns and flavorful fillings. The beer selection was extensive and well-curated, featuring local favorites and hidden gems. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable, making excellent recommendations that perfectly complemented our meals. While all the pretzel sandwiches looked tempting, I opted for the meatball creation, and it was thoroughly enjoyable. The tender meatballs were bursting with flavor, and the combination with the melty cheese and tangy sauce was pure heaven. To top it all off, the atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming, with a dedicated play area for kids in the back corner. They even offer gluten-free pretzels, making this a haven for everyone, including my celiac wife who also loved her pretzel treat. Overall, the Malted Barley remains one of my top bar picks, and it's the only place I know of that serves delectable gluten-free pretzel sandwiches.

Love the food here, and they're so good about food allergies. My partner has celiac disease and hasn't had an issue here. Crystal is great, so friendly, attentive and got the food out promptly! I only wish there were less TVs lol

Jo's American Bistro is the place where you can eat a bacon jam burger in what looks to be your rich uncle's living room. To explain further, the decor feels like you can spend some time looking at the menu, and enjoying the hospitality of the venue. Other restaurants may specialize in a churn 'n burn style of service, but Jo's really feels like you go here with the intent of a Christmas dinner quality. Even in July. But enough about the decor, which has earthy tones and rich trim patterns. The menu is moderately sized, giving enough options but not overwhelming someone with choices when hungry. Multiple burger options were available, which led to the choice of the Bacon Jam Burger. Starting off with the cocktail menu was the right idea. A cocktail called the "Desert Flower" included tequila (or mezcal, was it?) and was sweet enough to be called the "Dessert Flower." Some cocktails have a taste profile that buzzes down the mandible in some kind of sensory dance. This cocktail was one of those. Recommended for those who imbibe responsibly! Gluten-free options are available. A freshly baked roll was available for an extra $2, worth it with some butter. That same roll was used for the burger, a good enough substitute for the real thing. It was wonderful to hear the server say that the fryolator for the french fries was separate from the glutenous items. A separate and dedicated fryolator for the French fries? Sounds good to me. We recently visited the Corner Cafe during a trip to see our daughter. Despite a wait of over 30 minutes, the food and drinks were definitely worth it! Both my daughter and husband have celiac disease and had no issues with their meals. Sitting at the counter was a great choice as we had a front-row view of the action and the staff was amazing. I highly recommend this place!

have frequented plant city many times. it’s a solid vegan gluten free option that’s in the heart of prov so it’s easy to get to. there’s so many choices because they have multiple little restaurant concepts in one. i tend to frequent the upstairs besina the most. i got the cobb salad though most recently and it was a nice change of pace. but my usual is the nachos as a meal. soooo yummy and refreshing.
