Apponaug is a fantastic Rhode Island brewery. Typical (but beautiful) industrial/converted mill aesthetic, great food (including gluten free options for my wife), and a wide variety of beer styles. They generally have a strong German lineup (Kolsch, pils, schwartzbier, Vienna) alongside more modern styles (ipa, NEIPA, Mexican lager). Services is always friendly , and the outdoor space is amazing when it's not raining.

When we walked into this place with 2 kids, I saw the menu and thought we were going to walk out. Everything looked pretentious like it was trying to be fancy while serving regular items like burgers and nachos. While the menu could use a rewrite, the food was damn good. Some of the best fries and tots I've ever had. One daughter had the pulled pork sandwich which she loved and the other liked the cheeseburger sliders. The BBQ sauce is amazing with the tots btw. My wife had the nachos. Don't be fooled by the thing that looks like a small tray, it had a ton of nachos on it. My wife didn't even finish it cause it was so big. Portion sizes were good and the server was very nice. I can't speak much on the beer. I tried their lite beer and another one. And it was just OK. But I did like the 4oz pours for $2/3. It was like a "create my own flight". I only got 2 of them and I just thought that was cool. We ate inside but there's a neat outdoor seating area where I could see spending a night hanging out of you got some of the comfy lounge seats. Interesting idea. Does it still look like a pretentious brew pub trying to be soemthing it isn't? Imo, yes. But decor and atmosphere are in the eye of the beholder. The food is legit for adults and kids and the prices were pretty good imo too. And that's what matters. Gluten free options were available as well. I definitely recommend checking this place out and getting the tots with the BBQ sauce though.
