I was super excited to find Gloria’s while traveling up I-81. The pupusas were fantastic as were the chips and salsa. As someone who eats gluten free (I’m not celiac) the majority of the menu is naturally gluten free (a huge plus). They do have signs that the kitchen is shared so cross contamination may be an issue for some. I look forward to the next time I’m in or near Staunton and can stop in again :)

A friend and I were on a girl's trip to the area, and we are so glad we went to Mill Street Grill. Hannah was our server, and she was SO delightful. I have to eat gluten free, and she was able to make recommendations to help my meal be delicious but also safe for me. My friend got the prime rib, and she said it was tied for the best prime rib she's ever had. This is a place to keep on the list to visit!
Absolutely delicious! The truffle parmesan fries were THE BEST fries I've ever had! Also, it was wonderful to have gluten-free options. Everyone was so kind and helpful. Highly, highly recommend!
I've lived in Harrisonburg for over 25 years, and this is the first time I've eaten at this delightful restaurant. I'm not sure what took me so long, but now I realize what I have been missing out on! We took my father there for his 76th birthday (his suggestion), and it didn't disappoint! The atmosphere is authentic German, with all the joviality that goes with it! (The owner led the whole restaurant in singing Happy Birthday to him, which he loved!) We were greeted with smiles and live accordion/horn music. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our server kept our drinks full. The food was phenomenal, with generous portions of tasty fare. There is plenty of variety - for carnivores as well as vegan and gluten-free folks. The desserts are delectable - be sure to save room!
We went here with friends and neither of us had ever been.
The menu is diverse and it is a well marked menu that identifies allergies and vegan options.
Being celiac, I was very thankful for the many gluten free options.
This is a great addition to Staunton and I’m so thankful we finally tried this place. We will be back!
Got food from here with a friend allergic to gluten. Staff were friendly and helpful, and food was ready so quickly! Everything was delicious, and no hospital visits!
Ever since they opened, Chicano Boy has been one of the best restaurants in downtown Staunton and arguably the best Mexican restaurant in the Shenandoah Valley. I would recommend a particular dish, but every meal I've gotten here has been great. In addition to the food itself, their salsas are fantastic.
And they're also great for people with allergies to gluten and dairy.
Seriously can't recommend this place enough.
It was close to 10 p.m. and I ordered through the drive-through. The young man who took my order didn't catch that I needed gluten-free. However, he was friendly, apologetic, and quick to replace it.
Great place for pizza in Staunton. Our group tried a few different pizzas including a gluten free crust. The gluten free crust is thinner but very good. We ordered the cheesy breadsticks and cheese fries as appetizers, the fries were a large portion. I would highly recommend the cheesy breadsticks.
Quaint restaurant in historic area of city next to the train depot. There is plenty of indoor and some outdoor seating. Menu has several gluten free options which was nice. The Brussels Sprout appetizer is a must try. I had a great burger and my wife had the steak sandwich. Franklin was our server and ge was awesome. Overall a great experience for us out of town guests.
Gluten allergies in the family didn't have to stop us! We ordered the Margherita Pizza and the hot honey soppressata Salami (can't remember the actual name of the pie)....both were delicious! The sauce on the Margherita was amazing...the gluten free crust was crispy and flavorful. The hot honey was just enough heat and cooled by the ricotta. We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful day. The hostess was very friendly and welcomed us immediately upon arrival. Our server Lauren was as awesome as the food! She's super friendly and welcoming. We had a great visit and will definitely return. I would love to see online ordering become an option.
I never write reviews for anywhere so this is new to me. Just had to say they did really well with my Gluten free order. Cleaned everything and tasted great. First sub I have had in almost 25 years!
Love it, I'll be back. They at able to accommodate gluten free, dairy free and soy free requests. I went simple, burger and fries. I'm not sensitive to dairy and soy cross contamination in a fryer, but I am sensitive to gluten fryer cross contamination. The staff were very friendly.
We had a wonderful, affordable lunch here. They had ample options for everyone, including vegetarian and gluten free. I would definitely go here again. I got a gluten free Reuben with chips and fruit and it was delicious.
Our family loves Massaki. We are usually a mix of sushi and hibachi eaters. Everything is always good & the staff is great. It's extremely difficult to eat gluten free at any Japanese steakhouse so I appreciate that they will make an order of hibachi without soy sauce (separate in the kitchen) if you ask.
The only issue I have with this restaurant was the girl that answered the phone. I am celiac and can not have pizza crust. I have ordered there many times and has gotten a crustless pizza. Very good. The girl said she had never heard of it and that they do not have that and when I said I get them there she said at little Maria’s ? No you don’t. Then I said maybe your new and can you ask. She came back on and said they are not in the menu but they can make them. I asked for an apology for the attitude and she denied the rudeness. She could be a reason people won’t order there. Just not professional at all.
Well I need to thank the owner. He was very nice and surprised one of his employees was so unprofessional and lied to me saying Little Maria’s makes crustless pizzas. He was very nice and gave me the pizza no charge. That is the reason I will return for the delicious food.
If you are gluten free and dairy free like me, dessert is often a lonely desert on most menus as you cross off all the delicious items you can’t eat. The Split Banana in downtown Staunton, VA, is a wonderful second stop after a lunch or dinner with amazing fruit filled sorbets where can taste the grains of real berries … and even a great barely dairy chocolate. My wife enjoyed double the range of flavor choices in the gelatos … and every flavor in the case has color coded labels to avoid any allergy confusion. Thank you Split Banana for being my new dessert home!
Ubon never disappoints ❤️ This is place is one of my favorite restaurants in Staunton and I recommend it to people all the time. The food is absolutely delicious and Ubon, the owner/chef and her husband are so nice. They make my favorite pad thai, I am typically a noodle person but their rice items are good too! We went today for the Thanksgiving Buffet since we celebrated with family on Sunday and it was the BEST turkey I have ever had. Seriously, I will come back every year for as long as I am able so I can keep eating that turkey. I have also recently discovered I am allergic to gluten and this place is very safe to eat at. She said that she makes sure to have as much variety as possible for gluten free customers because they visit just for that reason. Eating here feels like eating at your friend’s family’s house :)
We ordered online while on a road trip. My husband is limited to what he can eat as he is gluten free and allergic. Ordering online was simple and easy-we had no problem with that. We arrived and I had to get in line for a fountain drink I forgot to add the order. I saw the cherry limeade and was excited to try it out for the first time. I order after a short wait and attempted to paid. The woman at the register (whose name badge said manager) told me my card was declined. I don't know what she did but my bank card worked fine before and after that which leads me to believe that was an error. I didn't get the lime for my drink and the cherry limeade at the free style was disgusting. It tasted like cherry syrup. I went to get our bag of food and found only the sandwiches. They failed to include the 3 kids drinks, 3 kids sides, and my husband's chips. There were 4 employees working but it seemed very chaotic. I finally asked someone where my missing items were at and he went in search of everything. He came back with a brownie, cookie, and 3 fountain cups. Apparently, you have to go find your own chips and the kids apple juice and chocolate milk I ordered were not available. So my kids ended up with fountain drinks. I then took the food out to the car and started distributing to our hungry family of 5. I handed my husband's sub to him and we found it was not on gluten free bread but regular. On top of paying $2 extra for the gf sub bun receiving anything else could make my husband sick and land him in the BR during our road trip. Not very desirable. I went inside AGAIN and told them it was not a gf bun. The manager apologized and said they would remake it. The kid who made the mistake said "oh, I forgot to put it on a gf bun." No apology. I told him that could make someone sick and he needed to pay attention to that. No response. After waiting 10 minutes I left with my husband's correct sub. We started driving down the road when I finally opened mine. Of course, mine was wrong as well. I paid extra for turkey, in addition to my ham, which was left off. There was no mayo and my sandwich was dry. My husband offered to turn around but I told him to keep driving. Horrible experience! I would not return. This seems really sad to me as this was our first time at firehouse and I was expecting more especially since husband is a firefighter/medic. First impressions are lasting.
Cracker Barrel never disappoints our family. My wife can not have gluten and they have a special menu for allergies - I love the biscuits and awesome service -
It's Starbucks, you know what you're going to get and it's going to be expensive. Since I'm gluten free, dairy free and soy free and I don't like coffee, I go in for the espresso shots when I'm on the road. The blond espresso was good, bathroom was clean. I think I can also eat the Kind bars, but they aren't my thing. Great place to stop in for some caffeine when you are on the road.
We randomly happened upon this gem as we were passing through town. We were so pleased with the incredibly delicious food but the employees (guessing maybe owners) were so very sweet and even made my dish gluten free.
We were so pleased and wish we had another chance to enjoy another meal. We both ordered the chicken and shrimp and were thrilled with our choice. Also the sauce you top the dish with was incredible!
