I was super excited to find Gloria’s while traveling up I-81. The pupusas were fantastic as were the chips and salsa. As someone who eats gluten free (I’m not celiac) the majority of the menu is naturally gluten free (a huge plus). They do have signs that the kitchen is shared so cross contamination may be an issue for some. I look forward to the next time I’m in or near Staunton and can stop in again :)

A friend and I were on a girl's trip to the area, and we are so glad we went to Mill Street Grill. Hannah was our server, and she was SO delightful. I have to eat gluten free, and she was able to make recommendations to help my meal be delicious but also safe for me. My friend got the prime rib, and she said it was tied for the best prime rib she's ever had. This is a place to keep on the list to visit!
Absolutely delicious! The truffle parmesan fries were THE BEST fries I've ever had! Also, it was wonderful to have gluten-free options. Everyone was so kind and helpful. Highly, highly recommend!
I've lived in Harrisonburg for over 25 years, and this is the first time I've eaten at this delightful restaurant. I'm not sure what took me so long, but now I realize what I have been missing out on! We took my father there for his 76th birthday (his suggestion), and it didn't disappoint! The atmosphere is authentic German, with all the joviality that goes with it! (The owner led the whole restaurant in singing Happy Birthday to him, which he loved!) We were greeted with smiles and live accordion/horn music. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our server kept our drinks full. The food was phenomenal, with generous portions of tasty fare. There is plenty of variety - for carnivores as well as vegan and gluten-free folks. The desserts are delectable - be sure to save room!
We went here with friends and neither of us had ever been.
The menu is diverse and it is a well marked menu that identifies allergies and vegan options.
Being celiac, I was very thankful for the many gluten free options.
This is a great addition to Staunton and I’m so thankful we finally tried this place. We will be back!
Got food from here with a friend allergic to gluten. Staff were friendly and helpful, and food was ready so quickly! Everything was delicious, and no hospital visits!
Ever since they opened, Chicano Boy has been one of the best restaurants in downtown Staunton and arguably the best Mexican restaurant in the Shenandoah Valley. I would recommend a particular dish, but every meal I've gotten here has been great. In addition to the food itself, their salsas are fantastic.
And they're also great for people with allergies to gluten and dairy.
Seriously can't recommend this place enough.
It was close to 10 p.m. and I ordered through the drive-through. The young man who took my order didn't catch that I needed gluten-free. However, he was friendly, apologetic, and quick to replace it.
Great place for pizza in Staunton. Our group tried a few different pizzas including a gluten free crust. The gluten free crust is thinner but very good. We ordered the cheesy breadsticks and cheese fries as appetizers, the fries were a large portion. I would highly recommend the cheesy breadsticks.
Quaint restaurant in historic area of city next to the train depot. There is plenty of indoor and some outdoor seating. Menu has several gluten free options which was nice. The Brussels Sprout appetizer is a must try. I had a great burger and my wife had the steak sandwich. Franklin was our server and ge was awesome. Overall a great experience for us out of town guests.
This place did an amazing job with our wedding cake. We sent reference pictures to give an idea, and the cake turned out exactly how we wanted it. We also had gluten free cupcakes that turned out to be a major hit as well. Overall, a great experience, and the cake enhanced the wedding in such a special way!
This bakery is amazing! My 6 girlfriends and I caravaned here all the way from Virginia Beach, VA for a huge box full of their treats....from the sausage croissant, to the sourdough, to the foccacia and chocolate chip cookies....everything blew our minds. My gluten-free friend loved her GF treats. We cannot wait to come back!!
We love coming here regularly. Great bites even if you don’t eat gluten and prefer paleo. Service is always warm and cheerful. Lighting and wood floors and deco are charming. Bathrooms clean. I don’t drink much alcohol and lately they have been carrying a delightful regional kombucha which I’m so excited about I’ve been craving it and making the trip more often to our favorite watering hole. However they keep running low or out so I hope they start stocking more! And today (for the first time) the fruit was a little expired and it got me thinking having seasonal (local?) fruit on the menu to sub into their cheese boards would be next level. I would also suggest some sound treatment as it can also easily get too loud, though we love when we can sit outside and enjoy the golden hour.
I never write reviews for anywhere so this is new to me. Just had to say they did really well with my Gluten free order. Cleaned everything and tasted great. First sub I have had in almost 25 years!
Love it, I'll be back. They at able to accommodate gluten free, dairy free and soy free requests. I went simple, burger and fries. I'm not sensitive to dairy and soy cross contamination in a fryer, but I am sensitive to gluten fryer cross contamination. The staff were very friendly.
We had a wonderful, affordable lunch here. They had ample options for everyone, including vegetarian and gluten free. I would definitely go here again. I got a gluten free Reuben with chips and fruit and it was delicious.
I loved having lunch at this restaurant! The black bean soup was delicious and served on really pretty plates and bowls. We also had a great ice cream dessert with blackberry lemon sauce, and their local Potters cider was also fab! There are several vegetarian gluten free options, plus their sourdough w/butter for the pro-gluten eaters. The owner was gracious and friendly, and their music added a sweet ambiance, but wasn’t too loud. It was elegant but not too fancy; such a fun find!
Our family loves Massaki. We are usually a mix of sushi and hibachi eaters. Everything is always good & the staff is great. It's extremely difficult to eat gluten free at any Japanese steakhouse so I appreciate that they will make an order of hibachi without soy sauce (separate in the kitchen) if you ask.
The only issue I have with this restaurant was the girl that answered the phone. I am celiac and can not have pizza crust. I have ordered there many times and has gotten a crustless pizza. Very good. The girl said she had never heard of it and that they do not have that and when I said I get them there she said at little Maria’s ? No you don’t. Then I said maybe your new and can you ask. She came back on and said they are not in the menu but they can make them. I asked for an apology for the attitude and she denied the rudeness. She could be a reason people won’t order there. Just not professional at all.
Well I need to thank the owner. He was very nice and surprised one of his employees was so unprofessional and lied to me saying Little Maria’s makes crustless pizzas. He was very nice and gave me the pizza no charge. That is the reason I will return for the delicious food.
If you are gluten free and dairy free like me, dessert is often a lonely desert on most menus as you cross off all the delicious items you can’t eat. The Split Banana in downtown Staunton, VA, is a wonderful second stop after a lunch or dinner with amazing fruit filled sorbets where can taste the grains of real berries … and even a great barely dairy chocolate. My wife enjoyed double the range of flavor choices in the gelatos … and every flavor in the case has color coded labels to avoid any allergy confusion. Thank you Split Banana for being my new dessert home!
Cracker Barrel never disappoints our family. My wife can not have gluten and they have a special menu for allergies - I love the biscuits and awesome service -
It's Starbucks, you know what you're going to get and it's going to be expensive. Since I'm gluten free, dairy free and soy free and I don't like coffee, I go in for the espresso shots when I'm on the road. The blond espresso was good, bathroom was clean. I think I can also eat the Kind bars, but they aren't my thing. Great place to stop in for some caffeine when you are on the road.
