The name Bombay Express makes one think of Panda Express or Chicken Express. You might be anticipating Indian fast food. But don't misunderstand, service isn't particularly fast, but the food is great.
Lots of great gluten free and vegan options clearly labeled on the menu. Not for your average white folks because it is SPICY. The good kind of spicy that builds and builds and builds until you have to stop eating for a moment because your mouth is on fire but all you really want is to put more idly in your mouth. Which I highly recommend. Idly: ultra crunchy little bites of lentil and rice flour, comes topped with a hearty chickpea and tomato heap. Also, the soup that comes with some of their meals- delicious. An "omelette" with no eggs! It's definitely a revelation for this person of caucasian persuasion.
They give you plenty of food for the price. All in all a great place if you're looking to expand your indian cuisine experience past chicken tikka masala. Definitely not much "express" to be had, but definitely foods "like mom would make" if your momma happens to be from India.
