Discovered this place on Tik Tok by a previous guest. Placed this on my must do - to do list to come to when adventuring on my 10 day Oregon roadtrip. Very hard to find places that are “true healthy” restaurants when traveling.
Stopped in solo 5-30-25 post breakfast hours but before lunch. Was greeted by Cash - SO NICE, great personality!!!! suggestions were made but ultimately I decided to have the Vegan “tuna” chickpea salad sandwich. I had already had breakfast but wanted a light lunch before going hiking. (Had kitchen cut in half for me to take remainder on my hike). Loved the bread (almost sure and hoping it was gluten free) that was toasted lightly but not so hard it was like a crouton. The side soup was a vegetable type soup. Wow! Seasonings were on point with the sandwich and the soup.
Bathroom was clean.
ONLY THING that had me sad was no souvenir sticker. I travel all over the US frequently and enjoy collecting stickers. I don’t need cups, shirts when traveling. Please consider getting stickers.
If I ever come back to Portland area. Hands down you will have a repeat customer coming back. Thank you!!
Start to finish, Rangoon bistro was the most wonderful experience! Excellent customer service started with a helpful call about hours, dietary restrictions, etc., and carried through to friendly banter with the chefs over absolutely delectable dishes. The tea leaf salad and very large dumpling were the highlights of an all around delicious selection (and are both gluten free!).
We live out of town, but may start making the trip to Portland more regularly to try new items on the rotating menu!
Thanks to everyone at Rangoon Bistro for an unforgettable evening!
The food: top tier
The employees: delightful
The atmosphere: casual, fun, upbeat, low-key
As a celiac with a strict gluten free diet, this place is heaven. As a person who appreciates quality product/services, even more so.
We've been ordering from Atlas Pizza to help accommodate one of our kids' friends who have horrific allergies and when we first ordered from them they're gluten-free dairy-free vegan pizzas we're almost indistinguishable between the regular pizzas except for of course the price. Apparently during the pandemic shutdown they either lost the ability to order the quality imitation ingredients such as good gluten-free dough good dairy-free cheeses good imitation vegan meats because the pizza that we got tasted like a meal y grainy gritty and the meat was stringy. For the prices that they are charging they need to be a little bit more honest especially if they've had to change ingredients because of the pandemic. This will be the last time my family ever orders from this place because even the regular pepperoni and cheese pizzas we ordered were overcooked and a house full of teenagers didn't even like it. Good luck in your efforts I will not be shocked when you shutter your doors but I will be shocked if you guys don't end up franchising and becoming the next Domino's gross pizza out there.
I love their food but a couple of things that would be helpful as a person with dietary allergies!
- labeling the soups as gluten free or not, I called and was told the Tom kha is but isnt labeled as gf?
- include which dishes come with rice or not in their descriptions, both on their menu online and delivery apps. Gf/Df food is hard to find and typically expensive, I’d like to avoid buying extra rice if a curry or soup comes with it already!
Best Vegan Mexican Food in Portland by farrrrr! big menu for vegans and gluten free options heck yes! Obsessed and staff is always super nice and helpful
An excellent variety of Thai dishes, made with the freshest of quality ingredients and perfectly seasoned! Portions are generous and priced right with many vegetarian, gluten free, and vegan options, as well as several meat and seafood options.
The owners are kind and welcoming, and the space is cheerfully decorated and comfortable. I can't believe how many times I've driven past this pink colored building and not realize that it was a wonderful Thai restaurant. You only signage is a very small sign high up on the building. I do recommend better signage because I fear too many people have made the mistake that I did and miss this great restaurant. I will be back soon! One note is that hotness levels seem to run more to the American than the Thai palate, so order spice level accordingly or ask the person serving you.
Stopped for a quick drink but ended up finding a new favorite spot! We sat at the bar and unfortunately didn't get the bartenders name but she alone gets 5 stars. So friendly and happily answered our questions and gave recommendations. She was also very attentive to our dietary restrictions (gluten-free and dairy free). We enjoyed the curry fries, cottage core cocktail, and hot people set boundaries mocktail which were all 10/10. Definitely will come back!
This is the perfect spot if you want to experience authentic Italian food in an authentic Italian environment! Casa Italia is reminiscent of so many hole-in-the-wall eateries we discovered while traveling around the old country. Everything we ordered was full of flavor and perfectly balanced. They have excellent wine, apertif, digestivo, and caffe offerings, as well as a full bar. The service was amazing, even given that our server had a party of 20 and a few other tables! (Shoutout to Carina!) The food was very reasonably priced. Some reviews state that it's pricey. It's not pricey at all if you compare it with fine Italian dining, and the portions are generous! The atmosphere is casual, but the food is comparable and/or better than any fine Italian restaurants I've patroned. And as an Italian American who has traveled to Italy several times, Chicago, and NYC, I've patroned quite a few over the years. :) At Casa Italia, you can expect a lively atmosphere and delicious, authentic Italian cuisine. On a side note, my husband is a symptomatic celiac and didn't have any issues! We can't wait to go back!
We use waffle window fairly regularly for excellent "Sweet Waffle Bar" for breakfast meetings- A ton of great food and everyone can make fancy waffles with the toppings they pick!
Added bonus of gluten free and vegan waffle options so everyone is included.
Bruce had delivered every time for us and is quick to set everything up and always friendly- even super early in the morning!
Grew up in Texas and this place is legit, the burritos are all amazing and now every one comes in a bowl for the gluten challenged.
My personal favorite is the Zumpango, which is their Guerrero style beef Barbacoa. I also recommend the Uruapan, Chile Rojo, and El Basico. I seem to rotate between all of these each time I come.
The patio area is massive with ample seating and sometimes has live music.
Hands down the best Mexican food in Portland. We drive 30 minutes for it several times a month. Everything is flavorful, fresh and the owners and staff are warm and friendly. Options are available to suit myself (celiac/gluten free) and my vegetarian partner.
This was the perfect pick for our anniversary dinner! My partner and I both loved the cozy heated patio. I have a gluten sensitivity so the sourdough crust was the perfect way to enjoy pizza without having to worry. I ordered the prosciutto and arugula pizza - I'd definitely order it again!!! And, they were giving out little loaves of free baked pizza bread as you leave - ours made the perfect french toast the next morning. This is a chill spot with a quaint vibe, delicious food and great service.
Seems to be always filled with Colombian people, which is a GOOD sign! Arepas and empanadas were fantastic, meat and potato dish was EXCELLENT. The menu is almost 100% GLUTEN FREE.
