Loved my experience here the staff were super kind and helpful, I rang beforehand and was made to feel super welcome and when I arrived I was told all the safety measures put in place such as a seperate gf fryer and working area. I had the fried chicken burger it was okay, the bread tasted a bit sconish and the chicken was a little underseasoned but the Kumara fries were insanely good! Would love to try one of the other burgers :)
Great place to get a burger for a coeliac, though only if you go on a day the buns are fresh! I went twice, and the first time my gf bun was really nice, but the second time it completely broke apart within the first two bites, making it too hard to eat without a knife and fork. These are things we deal with as gluten free people anyway, so it wasn’t surprising, but a little disappointing after such a good bun the time before. Otherwise the burgers were great, the chicken nuggets were really nicely cooked, and the chips were yum too!
Great customer service - good wine selections and food well priced.
A lot of Gluten free options and a bonus gf complementary shortbread with my coffee - that made me very happy.

I had a best GF fish and chips from here last week & my partner had the Supreme burger, chips, 2 fish & a sausage.
Absolutely delicious.
Nice and clean family owned business.
Will be back to try more from the Gluten Free Menu.
Had the most delicious dinner here! As a coeliac sometimes it’s hard eating out but the waitress was so helpful and informative with my ordering and it did NOT disappoint! So yummy :) highly recommend the karaage chicken….

Fantastic night out. Staff were amazing and made us so welcome. We had someone with Celiac disease. Most of the menu is gluten free but for the bits that weren't the staff made sure she had an alternative. Thank you all, you were fantastic

In short, I’ve been here twice and I’d choose to dine elsewhere in chch in places I know do a much better experience for this price.
I don’t have pictures from our visit but they wouldn’t justify anything anyway. The truffle fries had no truffle, just pecorino cheese on top to make them look like truffle fries, a common hack/ trick. The gluten free pizza base could do with some work/improvements, we’ve definitely had better.
The kids menu items are $20 which is so expensive for what you get. We ordered the kids macaroni, and for that portion (the size of a bread and butter plate in a small cast iron sizzler) it would cost $3 to make and they’re charging $20, already steep for a kids meal so I expected it to be amaaaazing. It also came out on a sizzling plate, from a kids menu!? Why would you serve a piping hot cast iron plate to children? It makes absolutely no sense. The staff could do with some major training on the drinks list, it’s a small wine list and wouldn’t take very long to teach the staff what is what, they knew nothing about wine whatsoever. The flavour of our pizza was ok, the beef cheek was lovely, they also have a sparking red wine which was new for us and delicious (even if the waitress didn’t know if it was actually sparkling red wine). All in all I’d choose other restaurants over this next time for sure. There just aren’t enough redeeming factors.
I am Coeliac and the gluten free pizza base was the best I think I've ever had. My family actually said the base was nicer than the normal pizza base so 10/10 for food. The beef my husband got was very fatty but the sauce was good and the potato served with it was outstanding. Polenta fries were lovely but they forgot to bring the aoili sauce with it which maybe we were meant to order that as we saw someone else being served this. The service was outstanding, especially given I screwed up the online booking. They were all really lovely. I would definitely go back again just for the gluten free pizza.
Overall great experience- great gluten free chicken and my partner enjoyed the pasta. Great service- the only thing I would fault is the pay wave system, even though I swiped the card I still got charged as pay wave and it wouldn't let me insert it, I guess it's just the paywave system but was disappointed. But the staff we were really lovely about it and Overall.
A friend and I stopped here for a quick meal during our drive down south since we were hungry but I honestly wish we stayed on the road instead. We had high hopes and saw the gorgeous view of the lake when we walked in with an empty dining room, so we figured we’d be sat by the window to enjoy the view. Instead, they sat us as far away as possible from the window, with a divider completely blocking the view so that was a bummer. I ordered a chicken caesar salad thinking it’s a hard thing to mess up, but they managed to do that. They used canned chicken, threw in some balsamic vinegar and added canned mango chunks for some odd reason. My friend ordered a salad with shrimp which on the menu was listed as having a gluten free option. The server then came back and said that the shrimp wasn’t gluten free and provided no other option despite the gluten free option listed under the menu. They then ordered the soup of the day which was tomato, thinking that was a safe bet. Newsflash it was not. Once the soup arrived it was a pale
orange colour, which tomato soup should not be but whatever maybe it tasted fine. It did not taste fine, they don’t even know how to describe it, but it did not taste good. And on top of all that it was doused in balsamic vinegar for what purpose is don’t know. Needless to say, we have no intention on returning to this restaurant on our drive back up the island
Dinner was okay. Their pizza sauce is way too sweet for me and I didn't care for it. Glad they had a gluten free crust but it wasn't the best I've had.
Went for brunch got a gluten free chicken burger the (JFK), it was amazing would 1000% recommend for gluten free people. There ice lattè was really nice also.
Also available gluten free
It's good that GF and VG menus are always displayed in NZ.
I had honey ginger tea and VG salad.
A cafe with a great atmosphere by the sea
I was able to talk to my friend fairly slowly.
Booked today for lunch thinking would beat the usual Mother’s Day rush - so did everyone else as restaurant was packed but staff were amazing rushing around taking orders - checking on drinks etc and the food was up to usual standard. My friend is gluten intolerant and waitress spent tine talking through the menu with her. Excellent lunch - thank you Old Vicarage
I got a $18 burger and I feel like I ate a $36 burger filling and tasty and gluten free. My partner bought a fish burger and finished the whole thing (that's a 1st) and those chips where mean as! 💯
I made two seperate orders with my partner (they didn’t know we would pick up together) and he was given my gluten free burger, i received a regular burger and it was very lucky I didn’t eat it as I am celiac and get bad symptoms when eating gluten. This is quite a big mistake and they need to be more careful when it comes to allergies, I also paid more for it to be gluten free but that was the least of my concerns.
The service was great, friendly and attentive yet not too OTT. I had he creamy mushrooms which were delicious and flavoursome. The others in the group all enjoyed their burgers and they are fussy. One member is coeliac and she was well catered for with GF options. Well done Joe's, Rolleston
A really great cafe! The food was excellent – I was particularly impressed by the large selection of gluten-free and vegetarian options. The rest of the menu also leaves nothing to be desired. The coffee was really tasty. The service was incredibly friendly and attentive. I particularly liked how child-, pet- and wheelchair-friendly the café is - everyone really feels welcome here. The ambience is beautifully designed and invites you to linger. Absolutely recommended – I would love to come back!
Arbour Woodfired Pizza and Bar is a delightful gem nestled in the heart of Lyttelton.
With its inviting atmosphere and a menu that celebrates the art of woodfired cooking, this establishment has quickly become a favourite among locals and visitors alike.
Upon entering Arbour, you're greeted by a warm and rustic ambience. The decor strikes a perfect balance between modern and cosy, with wooden accents soft lighting and indoor plants that create a relaxed vibe.
The open kitchen allows diners to watch the skilled pizzaiolos at work, adding to the overall experience.
Also on the walls, you will find some original works of
Bill Hammond, one of New Zealand’s leading artists, was a legendary figure in the port town.
The star of the show is undoubtedly the pizza. Each pie given a Te Reo name is crafted with care, featuring a thin, crispy crust that is cooked to perfection in the woodfired oven. The selection of toppings ranges from traditional margherita to more inventive options like smoked salmon and capers.
Each ingredient is fresh, and the flavors are well-balanced, making every bite a pleasure. The seasonal ingredients shine through, and the presentation is always appealing. For those with dietary restrictions, there are ample gluten-free and vegan options available.
The bar at Arbour complements the food beautifully, offering a curated selection of local wines and craft beers. Cocktails are also on the menu.
Service at Arbour is friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The staff is genuinely passionate about the food and drinks. Their enthusiasm contributes to the welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to linger a little longer.
Overall, Arbour Woodfired Pizza and Bar is a must-visit spot in Lyttelton. Whether you're looking for a casual night out with friends or a cozy dinner date, this place delivers on all fronts.
The combination of exceptional food and a great drink selection, and attentive service makes for a memorable dining experience. I for one can't wait to return and try more of their delicious offerings!
We really enjoyed our dinner here. Great staff served up a delicious barbecue feast for two with lots of gluten free options for my wife. Love the decor and vibe of the place as well. Check it out!!
We ate at The Goldfinch for the first time today and it was fantastic. We went for lunch and had the calamari, mushroom tacos, and eggplant followed by tiramisu and the chocolate treasure desserts. Everything was delicious. The calamari was the best we’ve ever had! All of the dishes were great. The flavours were unique and interesting and so tasty. They have several options for people who have to be gluten or dairy free and those who are vegetarian. The service was attentive and the atmosphere was lovely. They also had great music playing. We will definitely go back!
We were really surprised at how good the pizza was considering Hell Pizza is a chain restaurant. It was really good - and that was even with gluten free bases! They even did gluten free garlic bread, and the best bit - they sell vegan EatKinda ice-cream - made from cauliflower!! Super creamy and tasty - and saves cauliflowers deemed not perfect enough for sale at supermarkets, from going to landfill. Just brilliant! Must try :-)
Loved dining here on Valentine’s Day! My partner and I both had carbonara - mine was gluten free and (according to him) just as good as his! Great staff too, really enjoyable evening.
When it comes to takeaway pizza, nothing beats Hell. You pay a premium price for it, but a premium quality pizza is what you get. I love their gluten-free sprouted seed base, even though I'm not one of those gluten intolerant people. The onion rings are pretty darn good, too.
Our waiter was outstanding, we missed his name, a gentleman with a bead, he was attentive but not intrusive. The 2 person tables were well spaced so you could quietly chat, the kings choice meals was brilliant, I usually have trouble finding food as vegan and gluten free, but this was expertly catered for.
Not great Gluten Free pizza for how expensive it is. The regular pizzas look amazing but the gluten free pizza and crust wasnt much better than dominoes
We came in on Good Friday and had the set menu with the 5 cocktails. It was amazing! The server we had (didn't catch his name but had very short hair and an accent) was just awesome. So friendly and helpful. Last time I came to Original Sin, I had terrible heartburn and straight away he mixed up a concoction for me behind the bar that cured it. What doesn't this guy do well?!
Your team were also fabulous at being flexible with one of us having coeliac disease. No issues - they made a custom gluten free pizza and also gave a separate platter for the entree - all gluten free.
Thanks again team, we will definitely be back.

Awesome dinner here on a busy weekend. Staff were so helpful with my young coeliac son, sorting out gluten free options for him, and even have a separate fryer! True heaven as he wolfed down a delish gluten free burger and fries. The steak and mash was awesome, and service was lovely. Very much appreciate the extra mile when dining with kids. Lovely courtyard.

I was looking forward to Hell's Pizza wedges tonight with pizza for my dinner..I went into the Timaru branch and I was told there was no wedges.. I then asked for the Gluten free garlic bread and was told there was none of that either.. so had to have normal garlic bread and no wedges which was why I went there.. some mess up with the order I was told.. and pizza.. shop was also very cold with door open.. so i sat in my car where there was a heater. Still wanting wedges..disappointed.
Thank you for a delicious dinner. We are appreciative of your knowledge and care with gluten free food, and the meal was amazing. The best meal we had in Tekapo!
Really average service and meals. This place has definitely gone down hill. Ordered a salad with no croutons (gluten) arrived with croutons had to wait for a replacement by which time the entire table had finished their meals and I ate alone. Absolutely no apology at all. Coke was flat. Chips which have always been a favourite at joes garage were not pleasant at all. Will not be returning.
If you are strolling around the city and want to try Indian food with great authentic ambience and visual Artefacts, look no further. Plenty of options in the menu, gluten free and dairy free options available too. All n all nice food! 💙
Love your pizza, but as a coeliac, I require a gluten free base. I am disappointed that we bought 3 pizzas, it cost 74 dollars and my pizza was called a double, but was half the size of the other two and more expensive. Coeliac is NOT a choice. Gluten free is the ONLY way to treat it!
As a coeliac I love this place.
Of all the starters and mains only 3 are NOT gluten free. So many restaurants are the opposite.
Coeliac aside, the food is delicious. I come to Christchurch infrequently for work but the consistency of the food here is impeccable.
And the service is always warm and welcoming.
Recommend this place to all.
Very reasonably priced as well
Eat in or takeaway.....up to you. Either way, enjoy!!!!
Really nice food. A bit pricey and some items a bit spicy but worth it overall. Old style seating could do with some cushions. Quite a few vegan and gluten free options.
