Coeliac gluten friendly.
Dined here a week ago when visiting Canberra. It was an amazing dining experience catering for gluten free needs. The whole restaurant is totally gluten free - wow! The waiter was superb and gave us very good suggestions for ordering our share plates. The live piano music really added to experience and ambience. The food was outstanding and a real treat for everyone in our group, but especially so for the Coeliac diner.
Loved the decor. Loved the staff. Loved the music. Loved the food.
Even if you don't require gluten free, I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
We were really disappointed. We drove 20 minutes from our hotel to have breakfast at Local Press, a place we’ve enjoyed in the past while visiting Canberra. It seems like the cafe might be under new management. The menu has changed, even though the website still displays the old one (there are no gluten-free pancakes anymore!). While I’m sure the new owners are nice, the experience is not the same, and the food is definitely not of the same quality. My salmon nori eggs benny had about one flake of nori...
Please update your website!
Had a beef burger with a gluten free bun. It was so damn delicious. Really great gf bun, both size and texture. Chips were beautifully crunchy and could have done with a little more salt or dip. Presentation was beautiful and clean. Ordered a Dr pepper can but there was no option to choose flavour so I guess it was on some kind of roulette as I got a cherry version. Can't wait to eat here again.
Wow I’ve just arrived in Kingston and wanted to check out eating places being gluten free and all. Wow a friendly welcome followed by attentive, informative and kind service. The chef attentive to my gluten free needs and so many options. I had a hash meal which had gluten in the chilli sauce but half the menu was gf. Then there was a choice of gf desserts and freshly baked cakes- brownie, muffin packed full of fruit and the best gf carrot cake I’ve eaten. All washed down with a delicious turmeric latte. I will be back x
I have had Brod before but this one didn't hit the spot. Firstly, the wait time was insane for a quiet Friday lunch and one burger order. I would hate to go on a busy weekend and be in a hurry.
Had a gluten free veg burger. Their gluten free bread was so dry - so many burger places in Canberra do gluten free bread well so this was disappointing. The thinnest driest haloumi slice drowned by oily vegetables that tasted half cooked which given the wait time seemed a bit silly. So much capsicum! The burger sauce had been poured on and was oddly spicy which must be to make up for the lack of seasoning on the cooked veges. I think I'll try the vegan burger instead next time.
Their onion rings had a thick batter which was a welcome change from other burger joints. Appreciate that aioli dipping sauce didn't come at an extra cost.
Staff were nice but one person in particular seemed incredibly fed up - as was I by the end of it all. Won't be going back any time soon.
Interestingly never had a bad experience at the one at Capital Brewing in Fyshwick.
While there were multiple Gluten free items listed on the menu they don't have a Gluten free fryer which unfortunately stops Coeliacs from being able to order almost every Gluten free option which was disappointing.
Great for gluten free diners! Lots of options on the menu plus in the baked goods cabinet. Friendly staff and reasonably priced. Big portions as well. We spent $55 for 3 dishes plus a coffee.
What a little gem!
So hard to find good coffee in Canberra. The food was also delicious and really appreciate all the vego/vegan and gluten free options. Staff are also lovely and very quick service.
No photos because we are it too quickly.
I will be back.

The food is always delicious and they catering for gluten free. The service is excellent, the staff are friendly. A special thank you to Komal, for always providing us with outstanding service with a smile 😊
Great atmosphere, excellent service (took amazing care of our gluten intolerant guest), and beautifully presented food. Some flavours were amazing (tomato consommé, vegetables especially the beetroot) but we were a little disappointed by some food that looked better than it tasted (meat that I would have liked rarer, potato stack). Great night out.
Overall, a good little spot on the lake for a coffee and bite to eat. I really like the Cat’s Panama’s coffee. I was happy to see gluten free french fries as perfect for my little one and hard to find where no gluten items are cooked in the oil. $7.50 for GF toast that is tiny and 2 slices, i’d suggest giving 3 slices at least or drop price a bit.
We stopped by for a late lunch on a cold June day. The seating inside on the leather seats was warm and comfy with a good view of the foreshore. The staff were easy to talk to and very efficient.
As for food, we got two of the Southern Chicken Burgers and requested one with a gluten free bun which the staff were happy to organize. The burgers were outstanding, really tasty and tender chicken with excellent chips. Thanks Dockside team, we will definitely be back!
