Thank-you to Emilio and the team for a fabulous brunch on Sunday. A special shout out for seamlessly upgrading our party from 8 to 10.5 people in a already full house. Also, your staff's care with all of the allergies (2x Celiacs, 1 nut allergy and 1 shellfish allergy). Finding somewhere we can dine out without the stress that someone will get sick is huge for us. This is why we keep coming back to Bellboy. See you next time folks!
Before I talk about the (absolutely amazing and incredible) food, I want to talk about the service.
Kindness is so very rare these days. But you’ll find it in abundance here. Staff and the owner are so accommodating for those of us with disabilities. The first time I came with my support worker, staff happily turned the music down for me, as I was getting very overstimulated. I’ve also ordered through uber eats multiple times. However, today the app did not put my order through as gluten free (possible glitch). Jackson and the owner went well and truly out of their way to rectify this, and get the right order to me.
To say I’m grateful isn’t enough. There are no words strong enough to convey how full my heart is, because no other restaurant would go as far as these beautiful souls did. As I am unable to cook for myself right now, the fact they looked after me like this, when it wasn’t even their mistake in the first place, is proof that there are people in Melbourne that truly are the soul and the beating heart of this city.
The food itself is beyond delicious. Finding gluten free fried chicken is hard….finding gluten free poutine is even harder! And the grilled zucchini is so delicious, I had to fight my support worker over it haha. The mash and gravy is so comforting with the chicken, it’s real soul food.
Thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
We have been a couple of times and enjoyed the venue. The service 😀 and the cocktails 🍸were good, with some interesting or a twist from the original recipes. The food is good, well priced. The rice is well cooked and not a gluggy mess. A good range on the menu with gluten-free and vegetarian options. I think a little more spice could have been added. However, they are trying to cater for
all tastes. I would go back again.
Love this little place I’ve been twice and both times the sandwiches have been perfection. Super filling super delicious super fresh and they do an amazing gluten-free bun which is just great for me as someone who has been gluten-free for 20 years. I’ve tasted many gluten-free sandwiches and these might be the best ever
Me and my girlfriends got the set menu and fiorini wine to pair. Great food, the lamb shoulder was amazing, the beef and pork ragu was my favourite, didn’t love the salad. They catered to our gluten free requirements. Staff were lovely. Place gives kind of rustic Italian vibes , homey and comfortable. Cute little place
The quality of the food was exceptional, so fresh and so flavourful. The menu was well rounded and diverse. The prices were equal to the high quality of the food. They have lots of gluten free options also.
We had a wonderful meal last night with our family. Chef Sibel and her staff were super accommodating with some gluten free options etc. Can’t wait to go back!
Not a good experience for us.. with my partner it’s always amazing to have a dinner but we expected to have a better one..
First think and the most important we asked the women who attended us if the gluten free pizza dough it’s handmade or not. That girl was giving us really good service and she didn’t know and she kindly asked the other girl which I saw very passive and without desire to help and she said YES we do the gluten free pizza dough by hand and it was a BIG LIE, and the dough was really very soft they need to know they have to leave it in the oven longer to make it crunchy. We love to try pizza everywhere we go and we can detect it perfectly,
Why don't you go and ask the chef directly or say you don't know? The dough it’s one of the most important parts of a good pizza.
That’s the reason why a small detail made the difference in this case made it much worse.
Thanks to the other lady who gave me a second chipotle sauce and thanks to be kind with us, the other girl should take the exemple from her.
Had a wonderful night with my friends here. Our server was very attentive, and helpful. He was super knowledgeable and articulate when explaining the wine list and kept us very comfortable. They also have a very coeliac friendly menu. The decor is gorgeous and warm and I can’t wait to return.
First time visiting, loved every minute. Great atmosphere (even on a Monday) staff super friendly and genuinely happy, food and coffee awesome (coeliac friendly), and prices very reasonable.
We went for a family birthday dinner and got the set menu - all the food was absolutely delicious, huge portions and very good pricing. We had vegan and gluten free people and they catered to that too. The restaurant was busy but the service was prompt and friendly. Wine was also delicious. Great experience - yummy food and good vibes.
Overall, it is a good representation of Italian food. Pizzas are not extraordinary, but seafood pasta, which we ordered for my partner, was an excellent choice and taste exceptional. My wife is gluten tolerant, so pasta she chose was gluten free, she commented that one of the best gluten-free pasta meals she has eaten is so well done! BYO is not allowed 🚫 so that was one down part. There was only one sparkling option on the menu. We have ordered that bottle (prosecco). It tastes well and reasonably priced, so it's not big of a complaint point. We can recommend it if you are looking for an Italian restaurant in Melbourne.
3 stars for the food , 4 stars for the staffing team=3.5 stars
Had the kumo omnivore banquet here, menu listed its gf but when we checked with the team its only gluten reduced but not gluten-free which is very disappointing, some peopl are actually allergic to gluten and it’s dangerous to advertise falsely.
The Salmon carpaccio, the main dish beef and the desserts were great. Chicken karage and edamame was so so, not bad but nothing special. The chinese broccoli was the quite upsetting. It was blanched, bland and flavourless and theres nothing japanese about it at all. This restaurant has the potential to do better but their menu needs some fixing up 🤟🏻
It's a bar and a bottle shop. Tap beers if you want to sit down or choose from the fridge. Gluten free beers too for the celiacs is a great touch. Vino and some cocktails. Drink in or take away. I like it.
