I love the fact that they have a full gluten free menu!! The blueberry gluten free pancake was absolutely amazing. The food came out very hot and delicious. Will definitely be back.
From start to finish- this restaurant, this food, this experience was a whole vibe! Highly recommend! We were welcomed with an open door from the manager, greeted by a LOVELY smile from a lady named Ms. G. She was welcoming, dressed like she loved her job and greeted and knew regulars names! Our server was no less miraculous! Kait was welcoming, asked us if we had ever been here. She was thrilled to recommend all the best things for our first time experience. Bonus- she gave us a sampling if the biscuits and gravy since it was our first time! AND not ONLY that- she was cautious and asked us if we had any allergies she needed to be aware of before submitting our order! STELLAR SERVICE!
The bathroom had an incredibly meaningful wishing wall. Go check it out! Spreading positivity!
The food- holy macaroni! We got the stuffed french toast and streusel blueberry pancakes. Highly highly recommend both! They make gluten free pancakes which were fluffy and tasty and you'd never know!
The other manager was dressed incredible- suit jacket, shirt and a welcoming smile! Thanked everyone for coming.
Everyone seemingly truly loved the job. Kait seemed to know all the regulars and was so grateful to see all the families talkjng yo all yhe kids and engaging with them all! I would come back for the service ALONE .....and the food being incredible would be a BONUS! 🙂
A MUST VISIT LOCATION!
It's such a cute coffee shop, and it's all gluten-free! All the plants have names, which is a funny and cute little thing to add to the overall atmosphere. I will have to remember to take pictures the next time I go
But the cherry almond enters bites are delicious.
I have a gluten allergy and totally felt safe eating here. They had a dedicated fryer just for fries and our server paid attention to my order to make sure it was safe. The food came super quick and was delicious! Thank you!
Very happy with the service and food at The Wooden Spoon. I had the gluten free lemon ricotta pancakes and they were delicious. All of my questions were answered and I was confident in ordering without being nervous of cross contamination.
Stopped by the wooden spoon on our way through Kansas City. our party had the corned beef hash, the lemon ricotta pancakes, the fiesta Philly and a couple of cinnamon rolls. we found the food to be exceptionally delicious and the team member who served us was very helpful in explaining the options and helping us with our order. in addition my wife has celiac. they were able to safely accommodate her and everyone at the table was very pleased with our meal. Will definitely be back next time we are in Kansas City.
First things first: this place gets 5stars simply because of their Al Pastor taco with pineapple onion relish. I could stop there and that should be enough reason for any sane person to want to try this place.
But if you need more reasons (which I’ve already established that you don’t) here’s more.
Second, A strong gluten free menu so all your friends, who already suffer in silence in a donut-less world, can know the joys of good tacos.
Third, excellent salsas to choose from. We had the spicy jalapeño salsa which was creamy and had a solid slow burn.
Fourth, really tasty breakfast tacos. At 8pm!!!! Praise the Lord!
Fifth, a rewards program! Free tacos!!! It’s like heaven on earth!!
Taco Naco, we will be back soon!!!
The atmosphere and service was awesome! I had the gluten free cauliflower crust pizza...really enjoyed the cracker crust. Being celiac, I chose the gf option (but was warned of cross contamination issues). I did not get sick but for highly sensitive people, not recommended. There is one soup and several salads available, however.
Joe and Manager Ryan completely took care of my severe gluten allergy. To include not dipping into Mayo and instead gave me Mayo packets. Also instead of giving me a .Gf treat from the cookie bin, they went and got a non-contaminated one. They were so amazing to deal with. Oh and also they changed gloves right in front of me. You guys are awesome!!
I so enjoyed my first time at this restaurant! They made sure my dishes were gluten free and the service was wonderful. The food is beyond amazing and a delightful time was had by all. Thank you Pad Thai Restaurant!
Absolutely unreal! Rosati’s has the best pizza in Overland Park. Even better, they have dietary options. I’m gluten free and they offer cauliflower crust that is absolutely delicious. I always get either their standard cheese pizza, or the cheesy buffalo pizza with chicken and onions.
They’re not too saucy, perfect amount of cheese, and the crust is covered with cheese. It’s like a breadstick, so delicious and crispy. I normally have it delivered and they quote 45 minutes, but it always arrives at my door in 20 minutes. I’ll definitely be ordering again!
I have had such great experiences at Twisted Fresh. They are very accommodating for allergies - especially being gluten-free. It is great to have a place that is quick AND healthy. Definitely a top choice when getting food on the go!
We are on the hunt for a gourmet burger joint in KC and Burg & Barrel is on our short list. Bartender Dave was our server and he made several recommendations. The wife got the PB&E and I got the Smokehouse.
They have Gluten free buns for their burgers. And a huge selection of beers.
The burgers are huge and tasty. They are VERY accommodating with customizing. The tots were just crisp and not burnt.
(Updated). 2nd visit. 2 more burgers. Wife had the mushroom swiss and I had the bourbon glaze. Both were very tasty. She had the loaded tots. Claimed they tasted like loaded potato skins.
(Updated 230318). 3rd visit. Still love this place. Just wish there was one on the north side of the river
(Updated 230804). One more time. This time had the El Diablo, no bun, no onion rings and added a medium egg. Delicious
(Updated 240317) Woke up craving a burger. Had to drive to the south side to get one (hint hint). Had the spicy avocado burger, no bun with an egg on top. Wife had the Upstream BLT on the GF bun. Great as normal. Just wish they had one up in Parkville or Zona..
If you can overcome the cognitive dissonance that arises from paying $50/pp to cook your own food, this place is good-ish. It's good in class. I'll elaborate:
Grill it yourself style restaurants appear somewhat uncommonly in the Midwest. They are more common on the coasts, while often couched in the aura of Korean or Mongolian or whatever. To like this place, you must be comfortable with the idea you are paying for the novelty of the experience. My 11 year old is; I would prefer to pay someone else to cook my food when I eat out. Moving past that notion.
For what it is, and in comparison with similar style restaurants, I had the following observations:
1) The beef dishes lacked enough flavor distinction to make higher quality cuts shine. My wife preferred the chuck to the ribeye simply because it was easier to manipulate with tongs and did not taste bad comparatively;
2) The pork belly preparation was underwhelming when it could have been the star of the show. I wouldnhave preferred a cured element or a smoked element to make the cut shine rather than taste like thin pork chops;
3) Sides and accouterments are the real sleeper-crowd-pleasers here. The fried calamari - lovely. The gyoza - yum!
4) What joker said the smores were their favorite? Really?! It was literally a basic smore. A novel idea executed with basic effort.
This place is great for a fun night out, or a more social-food setting - office happy hour, get to know you date night, birthdays, or anything involving pre-teens. I don't think it offers a particularly great value for what you actually get, but that is not uncommon for this type of restaurant. The manager told us an all-you-can eat option is coming soon, which is more in line with similar spots on the West Coast. Frankly, I didn't think it was necessary, as we were all very content with the quantity of food we ordered. The all-you-can-eat model would be a better sell for some folks at this price point, at least creating the illusion of good value.
They offer some chicken options, some seafood options, and you can make it through gluten free, excepting miso soup (which was a bit overly salty).
Ambiance was fine, but nothing special. Table service was fine; the manager was exceptional - attentive, friendly, on-it.
In summary, the food is good-ish and the experience is fun, if you are into this sort of thing. I think at this price point there is many better Japanese restaurants in the area, and I'm pretty sure they will even cook the food for you.
There’s plenty of seating and light, as well as several gluten free pastry options— I just wasn’t a huge fan of the fritter, it tasted a little savory to me. I also got the matcha latte with the caramel apple sweetener, which I enjoyed.
The atmosphere is good, the shop is cute, the concept is good, the quality of the items not so much, the Gluten Free Vanilla Cookie is extremely sweet, their blended drinks are saggy and not very solid, which is not very favorable for the flavors, the restrooms were a bit filthy but the place has potential I would go back but I would order just an americano or an ice coffee.
Unique, delicious creations that you can eat there (which I strongly recommend) &/or take home to grill yourself. Plus you get to support a local business who also supports other local businesses. And for those with Celiac, we have never had any cross contamination over the many times we have eaten there. This is one of those few places that I love enough to proudly wear one of their shirts, although their shirts are pretty epic so that certainly helps.
Love this place! Best customer service, always so helpful! And they have the BEST gluten free bread! They are also super safe about cross contamination, change gloves, special knife etc! Sandwiches are super delicious, love the Italian! Go easy on the sauce if you don't want it too messy! Lots of free parking. Clean with lots of seating! 5 stars awesome service with a smile! 😋☺️😀
The food was not as gluten free as I had hoped. The manager was very nice. The women who worked there left much to be desired when it came to customer service. The food was OK. I won't be back.
I can't give a complete review. I stopped in because I finally found the shop, and asked questions. Yes, they have the cauliflower and gluten-free crusts available and use a stoked fire stove for that old fashioned fabulous bite of pizza. They also sell 3 types of pasta sauces.
I’ve always loved YaYa’s brunch buffet—it was my go-to spot for a delicious and satisfying meal. The variety of options was amazing, and everything was always fresh and flavorful. Unfortunately, after discovering my gluten allergy, I haven’t been able to enjoy the buffet the same way, but I still think highly of it. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff is always friendly and attentive. Even though I can’t partake in the buffet anymore, YaYa’s is still a great spot for anyone looking for a fantastic brunch experience!
Heavy on noodles and scrimpy on other ingredients making it Overpriced in my opinion. $17 for Watery Pad Thai, lacking depth in flavor. No mung bean, Thai basil, or lime wedges... Basically no fresh items served on top as I have normally had at other Thai places.
My companion enjoyed a more robustly sauced gluten free chicken dish ($19) but she said it was not great. I hate to waste food so we mixed our leftovers and the halfway decent dish made the disappointing dish a not so bad meal the next day. I'm not interested in going back but it's not terrible, just not worth the money.
Bubble tea must not be my thing because I tried their most popular one and didn't enjoy the gritty liquid and flavorless balls of gummy tapioca.
Great service! Attentive and friendly. The place could be a little cleaner. Everything at the table had greasy fingerprints.
Robot service cart was a cute element.

Everything edible-nothing good. Expensive for the quality. Did not offer to refill our water. Gluten free cauliflower crust not as good as frozen from Costco. Fries were undercooked. Atmosphere noisy.
We just had a birthday party for 17 family members at Thai Zappz. The food is great from the appetizers to the soups to the main dishes. Our family has a lot of dietary restrictions (gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, food allergies, etc) and they were able to accommodate all of us. I can't say enough about the wonderful service and staff at this place. We had a great time and everyone loved the food and service.
The food is great in the atmosphere was nice. I had already ordered my food assuming there wasn't anything gluten-free...but I was wrong. I was told you can get any of the tacos gluten-free and that they actually fried all the chips in a separate fryer. I had a half order bowl, which was very tasty!
Owner made up for my unfortunate experience with the veggie bowl.
I am looking forward to finding out if I am able to have the tofu made gluten free as this would open up an accessable catering option for my work nearby.
I walked the mile to give it a try after work today.
I wasn't going to write a review the first two times this happened, but now it's become exceedingly frustrating to be served raw meat.
I always order a medium burger and this was so rare, that the bun was bloody. I am not opposed to pretty rare burgers, but not made in a fast casual kitchen.
I really do love this place for the smoothies and the variety of gluten-free breakfast options, but I won't order meat from here anymore.
I'll be frank. I love their sandwiches and the staff is always friendly. However, consistently (no less than 10x over the past year) they run out of Gluten-Free bread and after waiting in line, do I find out it's out. Not cool, poor communications.
Additionally, again still like this place, closing at 6PM due to staffing. So, I find myself frequently skipping due to poor consistency.
Chicken N Pickle is such a fantastic spot for a family outing! The atmosphere is fun, casual, and welcoming, making it the perfect place to spend quality time with loved ones. With activities like pickleball, lawn games, and a spacious outdoor seating area, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. The food is delicious, and while I love their comfort food options, I do wish they had more gluten-free choices available. Still, it’s a great place to relax and have fun with family, and I always look forward to the next visit!
