I would not recommend this place for allergies, especially for people with celiacs. Unfortunately, places like this are the most dangerous for people with food allergies. The menu is marked and seems inclusive, but the staff I interacted with was not aware and did not care or take note when I asked about gluten free options and said that I have a gluten allergy.
The person working didn’t know what I was talking about when I asked if the fries are fried in a shared fryer and was annoyed when I asked if she could check. She left and didn’t come back with a clear answer so, I played it as safe as possible and my food still came out carelessly on bread. I brought it to the counter and they brought it right back out without the bread. No communication. At that point I started noticed the lipstick on marks on my water cup and the jars of shared condiments where anyone can dip whatever utensils they want into it (including contaminated knives spreading on bread and back). I was grossed out. I have celiacs. These details matter. I know how to navigate menus and how to respectfully advocate for the bare minimum. It’s not clean and it’s not safe.
First time here It was recommended. I ordered 2 gluten free beef empanadas and 3 chicken and a regular chicken. The beef were actually beans I didn't see any beef and tasted only beans so no beef. I also didn't notice that one chicken was missing, but I had walked a long way and didn't go back to correct order. I ate what I received (though I'm not a bean person) and they were good. The chicken I had pickup for someone else... I will revisit when I'm in the area again. Coming from Brooklyn is a long way👀 and will check the order before walking away.. its a curb side spot so you order from a window.
This review is for the vegan pie with cheese. First let me say the service was great, for the most part, and I really appreciate them offering a vegan pie (that is also gluten free!). Major props. I’ve seen some gnarly factory farming docs and have seen things I can’t unsee, hence eating vegan.
That said, the only reason for the low stars is just that, it’s not worth $30 and I can’t justify spending it again. The tomato sauce was tasteless and the basil not fresh, and somehow it had like zero flavor. I doused it in chili oil and garlic powder to add flavor. Toppings are needed to make this worth your while. Offering a pie with, say, broccolini and chopped garlic (or even just cheese and mushrooms!) could make this more substantial. I almost got halal cart after this but just decided to call it a night.
Looking for a spot that had gluten free and vegetarian options and decided to try this spot. Everyone was so nice and the food hit the spot. Will definitely come back next time I’m in the area.
Went as a group of 8 and waited 30 minutes to be seated. The atmosphere was really nice but nothing that stands out. We waited another 30 minutes for our food to arrive and the portioning for the cost is unequal. It’s on the pricier side if you are looking for a decent meal in the areas. The burger itself is serviceable but the real issue was the gluten free pepperoni pizza which was a disappointment given its taste and size.
Overall definitely better places out there if you are on a budget or well want a quicker service time.
I just ate dinner here for the third time in 10 days because I love it so much! The people are so nice and friendly, the place is cozy and comfortable, and the food is great — and they have gluten-free options, which I was surprised by and it was a great bonus! Such a great place to eat in the neighborhood and they have much more than pizza, a full menu of delicious options for dinner!
The pupusas are incredible, gluten-free, and the kind woman taking my order was very knowledgeable about celiac needs, even knowing about which spices might contain flour. Highly recommend!
This spot is the best — I love the protein shakes & fruit smoothies, as well as the owner’s commitment to the neighborhood! He listens to customers and is super knowledgeable about allergy-friendly & gluten-free options. All the ingredients are always fresh, and each visit somehow tops the last, it’s really incredible. If I could give this place more stars, I would! 🌟
Updating to add: the gluten-free granola is so good, and is kept separate to ensure no cross-contamination (AJ is the best!!!). The smoothie bowls are delicious, I can’t recommend this place enough! 💜
Very disappointed. Not celiac-safe. Staff needs allergy training. I’m sure the food is good, but I wouldn’t know. I could not trust the waiter or kitchen enough to order an entree without fear of getting glutened.
Arrived early afternoon on a Saturday, with only 1 other group inside. I alerted the waiter about a gluten allergy (Celiac) first thing, and to please separate the pita from the dips I was ordering as an appetizer.
No more than 5 minutes later, he comes out with 1 plate of … pita and dip, not separated.
When I reminded him that I specifically asked for them separated since I have a *disease*, he looked at me and said, “Oh yeah sorry. Just dont eat the dip close to the pita.” !!!!!
So unprofessional, I couldn’t believe it. He then brought me what he said was “Carrots and cabbage” which was actually carrots and celery.
I’ve never had a dining experience like this. Please train your staff on food allergies.
Nice people. Everything was outstanding. Mix pakora was freshly made. They modified spinach pakora to make it gluten free for us. Paneer Tikka Masala was delicious. Loved the service!
This place was great! Went here with a friend who is vegan and a friend who is gluten free and they had plenty of options for everyone. Very accommodating for food allergies. Great staff. Would go back!
