The BEST fish and chips that I’ve had in a long time and the fact that it was gluten free made it so much better! The service is excellent and the food was delicious! Definitely recommend to everyone 👌🏼👏🏼
Thank you for making pizza that I can actually eat that tastes amazing. Finding a gluten-free/dairy-free pizza that doesn’t taste like chemicals and sadness is a true feat. ❤️
Saw them on *you gotta eat here* and the meatloaf was truly out of this world. Gluten free waffles were great too ... and holy smokes the endless coffee
Excellent service and accommodating to gluten-free allergies. Excellent food for my gluten free Large Hemingway Short Story with 6 prawns. I Highly recommend the duck wings!
This place is popular! Very crowded and loud inside. Enjoyed it even though it was packed. Live music.
There was the option of quieter outdoor seating with plenty of room while we were there.
Tucked in on Wharf (with another spot on Yates), Dosa Paragon nails South Indian comfort food with crispy, perfectly fermented dosas, tangy coconut and tomato chutneys, and hearty sambhar . The signature dishes—like the Butter Chicken Masala Dosa and Mysore Masala Dosa—burst with authentic, bold flavours you won’t easily find elsewhere on Vancouver Island .
Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options make it inclusive and appealing to many dietary preferences. Many guests rave about crisp dosas and excellent chutneys: “Bomb.com for dosa lovers!” . One Redditor even called it “the only proper South Indian restaurant on the island” , and another praised the Butter Chicken Dosa as “fantastic!” .
Service and atmosphere can vary—some mention occasional slowdowns at peak times or small portion sizes for chutney —but most reviews highlight friendly staff and a cozy setup.
Highlights
• Exceptional, large, crispy dosas with vibrant fillings
• Delicious chutneys & hearty sambar
• Inclusive menu: vegan/gluten‑free friendly
• Filter coffee and mango lassi round out the meal nicely
Tips
• Go during off-peak hours to avoid waits
• Parking can be tricky near Yates—Wharf location offers easier access
Bottom line: Authentic South Indian cuisine with bold flavours, a welcoming vibe, and a menu that satisfies vegans and gluten‑free diners alike. A must-visit for dosa lovers in Victoria!
While it was great they had gluten free waffle options, you only get 1 Belgium waffle and if you’re hungry, it won’t be enough. An order of thick cut bacon on the side helped fill the void. Oat milk for our coffees was nice, and the coffee cup sizes are kind of small given the $5 charge. Overall, it was decent - it was a breakfast start to a busy morning - but we’d likely go elsewhere for more value and larger portions.
My wife ordered gluten free, she was served gluten. She is a celiac. Unacceptable. No apology from the server or manager. The item was also left on the bill. I honestly can’t believe this is how this restaurant operates.
Paid 16 dollars (as I gave 2 dollar tip) for some good tasting chicken soup. I was disappointed to see there were only like 3 tiny pieces of chicken in the soup. Also for folks who don’t want bread, maybe provide a gluten free option or reduce the overall price of the meal. The servers were very kind and the soup tasted good but for the price point not so much!
FOOD POISONING ALERT:
I went to Finn’s seafood chops cocktails last night in hopes to eat some fresh local seafood while visiting Victoria BC.
In short I ended up with a whole night of vomiting due to food poisoning.
I ordered the crispy skin BC sablefish for my main and I shared a dozen of their oysters.
I believe I have gotten sick from the sablefish I ordered mainly because my friend did not have any issues from the oysters and my symptoms along with the vomiting is a lot that come along with scombroid poisoning ie: tingling and burning sensations around the mouth, facial flushing, sweating, nausea, vomiting, headache, palpitations, dizziness, and rash.
Scrombroid poisoning is a
foodborne illness that typically results from eating spoiled fish.
We chose this restaurant due to the great reviews we found through our google search and the location of it being right off the harbour.
The service was wonderful, I’m not sure of our servers name but she was very kind and attentive to our orders. As I am celiac and she ensured to make sure all of our plates would not have any cross contamination.
The food was delicious, we all enjoyed our plates.
However I do question how well the fish I ate was properly handled
or if there was improper temperature control from the time of catch to consumption.
I would consider Finn’s a fine dining restaurant and I would expect for a $300 meal, the place would have top notch food quality and proper food storage and preparation. I had higher hopes for their standards.
I am on vacation and now recovering from food poisoning, this is not how I wanted to spend my time visiting B.C.
I would not come back to this restaurant nor would I recommend it. I am also turned off of eating fish for a long time now.
Feeling not impressed at the moment.
The beer was good. The service was good. Unfortunately the food was not good. We came for the gluten free fish and chips. They were heavily deep fried and over cooked with a tiny thin layer of fish. Worst fish ever. The calamari was good and fried well so why was the fish over done? They did remove the charge but dinner was a disappointment.
will come back! delicious curry (plant based/cashew). excellent for vegetarian and vegan food, gluten free options. calming atmosphere. might be nice to have a bottle of water to top up glasses at the table :) friendly staff, won’t come by your table to ‘check in’ which i liked, just to serve/clear dishes
One of my all-time favorite spots. Obviously, nothing beats the original Tacofino up in Tofino—but during high season, the lines can be wild. So we opted for the city version in Victoria yesterday, and it totally delivered!
They were super accommodating with dietary needs—my friend is both dairy- and gluten-free, and they had no problem whipping up a bowl for her. Our food came out fast and piping hot.
What I love most about Tacofino is the explosion of flavor in every bite. Fresh, bold, and seriously satisfying. If you’re visiting Victoria, this place is an absolute must.
Amazing place highly recommend, from the atmosphere really elegant place to the service we had josh as our server and he was amazing very helpful in gluten free options as my fiance is celiac, the food is amazing really good they even have gluten free bread which is delicious very light and fluffy very hard find in gluten free( I Want the recipe ;)..) the food was so delicious definitely would go back amazing time the drinks were good just overall 5 stars
We had been recommended this restaurant by a friend, and it did not disappoint. We had gluten-free fish and chips which came with a nice serving of fries and coleslaw. The drinks were tasty and the atmosphere was lively. The location is right next to the Victoria Harbour Airport and you can see a view of sea planes as well as the sunset. Nice fun place to enjoy a meal.
Cactus club is great for celiacs. They have a dedicated fryer. Staff are generally nice about allergies, I’ve only had one server who wasn’t kind. Otherwise I’ve been lots- it’s my go to restaurant living with celiac disease. Thanks for making eating out possible!
I ordered gluten free and they had great options! Very patient and basically made me a custom one. Really good flavour and size! Im surprised they dont have 5 starts all the way
I have celiac disease and have been here a few times and the food and service was good. However this morning I went and ordered the same thing I had the past few times with no issues I was informed that the kitchen would not be able to accommodate my allergy as I cannot have any cross contamination and that there were only 2 things on the entire menu that I could choose from. Mind you the two things to choose from were minus the hash browns and toast with the only sub being a small fruit bowl and still paying the same price. The waitress was very nice about everything and very apologetic when we decided not to order anything. However I felt like it is very poor of the restaurant to only be able to accommodate allergies when it’s convenient for them.
First time here and won't be my last! Delicious, fresh food and friendly counter service. Beautiful presentation and welcoming atmosphere. I am celiac and they're very careful and knowledgeable about GF (no separate fryer).
Absolutely delicious and great service!
I had The California and an iced chai and my partner had The Reuben (on a gluten free bun) and a green tea. Everything was absolutely delicious!
The service staff were super friendly, fast and helpful. I also love the overall ‘farmhouse’ vibe of the atmosphere!
Today I went to Earls Victoria with group of friends for dinner, I explicitly informed the staff on three separate occasions that I am celiac and that requires a strict gluten-free diet.
Despite these clear communications, I was served food containing gluten, resulting in a severe physical reaction and ongoing symptoms requiring recovery. This goes beyond a simple mistake — it represents a failure in duty of care and negligence in handling a known medical condition.
In Canada, restaurants have a legal obligation to provide accurate allergen information and take reasonable steps to prevent cross-contamination when informed of a medical necessity. In this case, those steps were clearly not taken.
This incident has caused pain, distress, and potential long-term health implications. I strongly urge Earls to review and revise their allergen handling protocols, provide staff training, and implement stringent verification processes for medically necessary dietary accommodations.
If this issue is not formally addressed, I will have no choice but to explore further action through appropriate regulatory and legal channels. This is about protecting others from experiencing what I went through.
Tasting menu was awesome. My daughter treated me and they made gluten and dairy free dishes for me and standard for her. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. The whisky cocktail was incredibly tasty,
The food tastes good. It's a little expensive for a walk up counter when you add on any protein or avocado.
Most of the additions were gluten free, which is why we chose this place.
They had fun beverage options.
It's accessible, but a tight squeeze inside when it's full in rush hours
It was a good quick stop for some cheap dinner. The loaded fries were way too spicy and the menu could offer a few more gluten friendly options. Other than that, it's just as I expected after visiting both locations in Vancouver.
We came here for lunch, and they had a set menu called teishoku. We each ordered a different item, but both of the lunch specials were delicious with many different sides. My wife asked for gluten-free options and they completely updated her lunch to make sure that there was no gluten and did replacements for other things. Overall, we had a great lunch and the service and atmosphere was very nice.
I wanted to order a bunch of different Cheesecake slices for a celebration and they pulled through! Great customer service and they really did everything I asked! They sent me a list of all their regular cheesecake flavours and in addition as I was placing my order in advance, they gave me the option to have creative freedom with any other flavours I wanted. Ordered a bunch from their menu and requested a Biscoff Cheesecake slice too! I also requested a Gluten Free cupcake as well. Hands down my favourite Cheesecake is the Cinnamon Bun Cheesecake, it’s just SO good! But really they are all super delicious!!!
Went for the first time and loved it. It’s cluttered but cozy and all the employees were very nice and helpful. We sat in the diner and were served by a girl with green and black hair who was very kind and helpful, especially with diet restrictions. I had a gluten free club sandwich which was good and their almond based cookies were super delicious! Overall, recommended for their quick service and friendly employees.
For that schnitzel craving, there is no better place in Victoria. And if you're celiac (gluten free) the answer is finally "yes!". You can enjoy it right along with your eating partners.
The crisp is just right, the sides (you get two) are very nicely prepared.
Bonus is, we have enough leftover for lunch the following day.
The service was fun, informative and attentive.
Had a heavy travel day yesterday, needed a breakfast spot for a table of six. Called in advance and able to get a reservation if we were there in 10 minutes. The food was a huge portion size. Bonus that they had bubble tea. The only issue was one of our party has a gluten allergy and they were not willing to substitute more hash towns and remove the English muffin for the egg Benedict, but were able to remove the toast for more hash browns with the omelette… We don’t know why one but not the other. We had the veggie omelet, Mexican omelette, breakfast sandwich, and bacon plate. We saw there is an 5% charge if you use any card other than a Canadian debit card. Overall, happy for our party with this find today!
9 people well accommodated Pork shoulder was very good, lamb was also very good. Will be back great waitress. Need more gluten-free options would be the only problem a few options not clearly identified waitress very helpful.
One of the best joints in Victoria hands down. Gluten-free options for my celiac folks, delicious french cuisine, wonderful atmosphere, abundant wine list, cocktails, and immaculate service.
There is a reason why Brasserie is able to operate without reservations. Go a bit before you're wanting to eat and get ready for a top-notch experience.
Unfortunately Milestones has significantly reduced their gluten free/friendly menu options. Their main menu items are pricey but the portions are generous. The serving staff don't seem well informed about their wine or menu options but willing to check. However, the food is always consistent and the Milestones on the Victoria BC inner harbour has lovely views and a great, full sun patio in the nice weather. Of course, no one beats a Milestones bellini.
We went here for afternoon tea. During our three days, we went to three different places for afternoon tea. This tied for first with another place. It was first for atmosphere by far! It tied for first for the tea, and it tied for first for food (first for regular, second for gluten-free). Service was first by a long way!
I had a beautiful dinner as the sun was setting. Went for my 25th birthday with my parents and really enjoyed the servers and food.
We got a delicious side order of mussels, and I got the Vista 18 veggie burger (with gluten free bun) and added feta which was super yummy.
Was a little shocked with some of the culinary choices, like the three whole yellow potatoes in my burger, or the pop rocks in the crème brûlée, but they were still delicious :•) !
Best suited for special occasions as it is quite pricey depending on what you order
My bestie and I dined at Varsha for the first time on Saturday. From the moment we walked through the door, I knew it would be a great experience. First of all, the seating is amazing. From someone who struggles with comfort in restaurants, I could see that every seat looked comfortable and the layout was excellent. The person who greeted, seated and served us was lovely, she was so friendly and helpful and ensured our experience was a wonderful one! We share Chicken Pakoras and Palak Paneer...both were divine! We found the menu options to be excellent for my gluten free needs due to a wheat allergy. And the prices are fantastic! I definitely look forward to returning more frequently!
**I've just read through some of the negative reviews and I'm actually shocked. Our service was amazing, fast and friendly. The food was fantastic. And I see someone complaining that their butter chicken poutine came on a bed of fries....ummm what did you think you were ordering?! Anyway, I kind of think some of the negative reviews are bogus, but I guess everyone has different experiences. I have quite high standards/expectations, and they were met fully!
We’re in town for our anniversary, could have picked any place to eat but chose this location. What a disaster. Apparently, a reservation means nothing to these folks. Food - calamari had two massive lumps of solid squid multiplied by 10 pieces stuck together. Mashed potatoes were whipped so much, they were just a lump of gluten. I asked for my prime rib to be medium - I received raw on one side and slightly brown on the other. My plate was less than desirable to say the least. Not sure why I would get a mini cup of ketchup with prime rib - had to ask for horseradish!! Thank you for an awful 13th wedding anniversary dinner!
I was expecting medium to low-grade of Indian food, but I was actually proven wrong. This place has a really good flavor full options, which I was amazed. I really like their chaste specially Samosa chaat and aloo naan. there are a lot of gluten-free options available as well so in that sense it’s pretty good.
I recommend trying to appetizer option pretty large portion of food replacement item.
