As a gluten free vegan I am used to turning around and leaving cafés once I have established that there is literally nothing for me to eat. Here I was spoilt for choice and served by a knowledgeable and helpful member of staff. The only criticism is that there were only two members of staff and only one having to take orders, make drinks and take money. By the time we left the place was full, despite it being a Monday lunchtime, but I suppose that's not a bad problem to have!
I booked the Toby Carvery for myself and two cousins from London. I was not disappointed. It was a lovely dining experience. My cousin is gluten intolerant and the duty manager did everything possible to make sure my cousin felt safe. The chef was also extremely knowledgeable and even prepared a portion of cauliflower without the cheese sauce. The staff were all excellent and I would highly recommend dining at Toby Carvery Downlands.
3rd time here. Warm, welcomkng, cosy and friendly. Came with old friends. Just love the home made tortillas and dips, and the salted fried sweet potato fries. Went for sweet potato gluten free tacos. The specials tequila sunrise for delicious, I just had to have two! I managed to just about squeeze in the vegan chocolate and berry desert!
Thank you
Really nice little spot with quirky and relaxed decor. We had the veggie el diablo with fake meat and peppers and then the green goddess with added prosciutto which was gluten free.
Pizza bases were nice and cooked well. Toppings were generous too. You get truffle and chilly oil to pour on too.
Id definitely recommend this place you won't be disappointed.
One thing I would recommend the chef change about the El Diablo is reconsider what veggie sausages to put on the pizza. The current ones, which I think are Linda McCartney sausages, didn't have much flavour and didn't suite the El Diablo style. Another brand does chorizo veggie sausages that would work much better. Or swap for veggie pepperoni.
We had a very enjoyable family lunch here. The menu is varied and fairly priced. Good that fish can optionally be grilled instead of fried and new potatoes or salad are an alternative to chips. We managed to compile a decent vegetarian gluten-free meal for one of us by ordering several side dishes. My only criticism is that the service, though pleasant, was slow and lacking a spark.
I walked into Finch by chance looking for something gluten-free. I got the ham hock and it was on two massive hash browns. I have never eaten something like it and it was gluten free so bonus for me.
Have been regular customers for a while now. Service is brilliant as usual and always made really welcome. Food was delicious and gluten free food
Was really good. Didn't feel I was eating something I had to make do with, which is so often the case.
Fantastic hotel. Great service, wonderful and massive breakfast with a great understanding and plenty of choice for gluten free. Very clean and comfy rooms. We had a family room and it was a great size for 4 of us with 1 double and 2 single beds. Great location right on the sea front too. Highly recommend!!
It’s rare for me to find anywhere which does gluten free Chinese food! As a coeliac I have to be super careful. The manager took my order and told me what noodles I could have. She used a clean wok. She was knowledgable about the ingredients too. There was only one sauce I could have but it was delicious. They were so friendly and I didn’t feel like a burden asking all the questions I have to. Will definitely be coming again.
Went to the pub on Thursday for the 1st time & it did not disappoint me. The food was lovely, I had the garden salad with halloumi, the salad had little bits of mint which gave it such a lovely flavour. My husband opted for scampi & chips which was plenty full. Full range of drinks & they also had a gluten free menu which I didn't realise until after I had order my meal. Definitely will return the next time we're in Worthing.
Good food, great service. More salad options maybe with salmon etc would be nice. Dairy gluten free choices not brilliant but a great place to go if everyone wants different.
Shout out to Tim who was so friendly and accommodating when I was needing to order gluten free.
His whole service was great and could not be more attentive.
It's always fantastic service here and consistantly a great visit.Even Sadie who saw us to the table was a nice friendly face.
Thank you all and Tim for making a meal out a pleasurable experiance with no drama.
Ordered the Rice Peas and Jerk Chicken with a side of Plantin. Was all delicious. Will come back another time to try the goat curry and the dumplings which are gluten free.
Really good Japanese food, can either do starter and mains or small plates, has separate gluten free menu.
Gyoza and karage were great, katsu really good as well, much darker and deeper flavour curry sauce than a lot of places.
Abyss beer as well for the drinkers, dalston press for those that dont, will be back to try the bap buns.
