Came for brunch on my birthday 9/9 and I am so happy we did!! Our experience was definitely 10/10!! I ordered an espresso martini my way, and the bartender executed the cocktail perfectly! Start with the cariar dip and pork belly/Gruyère omelette (the dip was soo good and I’ve never had an omelette so fluffy in my life) we also got the cheeseburger (which my husband devoured) and the flounder dish (I have a gluten allergy, and they were graciously accommodating). Our waiter was outstanding, and to top it off, Kim came around and made our already amazing experience even better! This was our first visit, but now The Girl & The Fig has made its way on our go to Napa/Sonoma list every time we are there! I can’t wait to go back!
I have been to Valley twice this year. This is a stellar experience all around. The food and wine are divine. I have a gluten free diet restriction and many of their entrees and sides are gluten free. One of the plates I got was Roasted Stone Fruit with Ricotta. The flavors and textures were wonderful. My partner and I shared the Lamb dish, and he raved about it. This type of restaurant fits me because they have a lot of shareable plates. It is a small menu that changes (apparently).
Layla Restaurant is a hidden gem in Sonoma; we so appreciated the lovely ambience and delicious food, without having to leave town. We enjoyed leisurely cocktails, flavorful meals and great service on the peaceful, tree shaded patio as the sun was going down.
My husband has celiac disease, and our server asked about food allergies as soon as we were seated. There are several GF options on the menu, which was a treat. We started with well-crafted cocktails, probably the best vodka gimlet I've had in years. (For those who don't do alcohol, there is an interesting selection of mock-tails.) The salads looked very generous, but we decided (with the help of our server) to have the roasted brussel sprouts along with our entrees, that also included some veggies. The salmon and the scallops entries were cooked perfectly. The GF birthday dessert was heavenly.
The patio cooled down as the sun set, and I wished I had brought a light jacket. However, there were two types of patio heaters and the one on wheels worked perfectly to take off the chill. If you're a local or a visitor, you'll be sure to have a memorable experience at Layla's!
Great food. Too much cheese though. Their beans make me bloated, which is odd. Maybe they need to soak their beans first.. IDK. They don’t have rice if you happen to be a rice person. Fresh, homemade tortillas and amazing chips made from those same tortillas. I really miss the squash enchiladas. And why not make the beer battered fish tacos gluten free?! It would be easy!
Rustic chic, food is 10/10. I’m still dreaming about the cauliflower appetizer. You know you’re doing something right when you have 8 girls from Chicago absolutely drooling over the pizza. Very accommodating to the gluten free folks out there. Every app, meal, dessert was an experience of its own.
Because it’s Napa they can get away with the simple rustic chic but I’d like to see this place add some spice to the ambiance so it’s not just another Napa/ Sonoma restaurant vibe.
