Food was phenomenal. Absolutely appreciated the variety in the menu vegan and gluten free options. Waiting times were a little long but I think that speaks to how good the food was and how busy they were. Despite the long wait, service was great. Warm and friendly. Our server Jessica was great.
Amazing customer service, people were extremely nice and friendly. Food was good and had excellent choices for vegan and gluten free, allergy friendly menu items. Not super expensive either, which is a huge plus so I can come here more regularly.
Only leaving 4 stars because of the water having salt/minerals* and they had to remake my friend’s vegan tacos. Also would add that my mocktail was mostly ice… They were really good about providing allergen free laminated menus with notes.
*Suggestion to restaurant, I know other people have commented about the water. It probably would have been a 5 stars if not for water quality. It just was a gritty tap like taste.
(FYI water snobs in Madison, RED has the best free water served in restaurants)
Food was delicious, service was quick, and staff were kind. Broad menu of options with large vegan sections. Restaurant can make dishes that are gluten sensitive (though not Celiac safe). Similarly, they are very accommodating for other allergies, and can customize meals easily.
Both times I've been there, they've had great food, great service, and a fun atmosphere. Gluten-free buns are always available, and they have a designated fryer to avoid cross contamination.
amazing food! lovely atmosphere - upbeat and wowing decor. an amazing array of beers wines and bloody mary’s as well.
if you come, start with the traditional frites (fries) and blackened garlic ranch aioli sauce - fantastic!
plus for anyone that is gluten free or celiac they have a dedicated gluten free menu - woo hoo!
Mission BBQ has become part of our regular rotation. The BBQ is great, and the customer service is excellent. All of the food we've tried has been tasty, and my wife appreciates that the fry oil is gluten free. The very pro-men-in-uniform decor won't be everyone's cup of tea, but unless it really bothers you Mission BBQ is worth a visit
Food was delicious. 9/10. My personal favorite dishes included green curry and praham long song. Everyone we talked to recommended the red noodles, so definitely try those as well! I got the foco roasted coconut juice as a drink which was nice but wouldn’t re-order. To be truthful, I only got it because it had boba. The sticky mango rice as dessert was DELICIOUSSSS and a fun cultural food to try. The cream cheese wontons were exquisite. Basic, but delicious. Almost everything here can be made vegetarian and gluten free which is great if someone has dietary restrictions. Overall would definitely recommend this place, especially with parents in town as it is a little pricey for the college student budget. The service was good except they do this thing where you have a table but must go to the front and order every time and then they bring your food out to you. I was not the biggest fan as someone constantly had to get up to go order food, a drink, etc. and it broke conversation. May just be a personal preference though. My final rating is an 8/10 for the restaurant.
I waited too long to come back! The food is so delicious and there is a whole section full of vegan and also gluten free items on the menu. The yucca fries, vegan chorizo empanada and the vegan black forest cake were particularly good.
First time there and staff Jesus was very awesome, welcoming with explaining how the ordering routine worked. Was with friend and we tried both of the gluten-free crust pizzas and both were delicious. Will be back!
I love this place. They have such good food and service. I am now gluten free and just tried their gf pizza and it’s so good. They have great vegan sausage also! Of course they have all the cheese and regular crust also
Great service from host and server, very happy that they had a separate gluten-free menu. Eggs benedict with gf bread was delicious, maybe a little too cheesy but still great
Last week I had friends from out of town visiting Madison and I suggested we go to my favorite local pizza place : Grampa’s .
Cannot believe I had not left a review as I have been coming here for years and they have been my go to take out pizza place . I have brought friends , family and business colleagues here .
This is not your traditional pizza place . It is not thick crust , it’s not deep dish and it’s not Neapolitan . All of which I enjoy , but this place is unique . Not only is the crust thin but the toppings are specially crafted to create a memorable combination of flavors .
From their menu I have had every pizza flavor . Each topping has been selected and all go so well together . Seasonally (depending on what’s in season) they offer a unique flavor , like summer corn or fall turnip .
Tonight we chose Jambroni which I always add their chicken sausage and the Barbarini with extra watercress on top . Best part about the offering here is the availability of gluten free crust on the menu .
When dining in the staff is exceptionally friendly and know all about the flavor combinations. When doing take out the service is fast and I have never experienced any delay .
On occasion they have a shortbread rosemary butter cookie which is given at the end of the meal and it’s so tasty .
Five stars to this institution of specialty non traditional pizza in Madison .
Love going to Otto's for food and music on the deck. They've got curtains and heaters if it gets cold but usually it's perfect on its own. They have a lot of gluten-free and vegetarian choices. Their wait staff are excellent, so friendly and fast that I always have to leave a nice tip. 😉
I'm vegan gluten free and was in town for the afternoon. Once I saw the menu here I knew I had to go. I had the Banzo platter with falafel & tahini, hummus & carrots, rice and salad. Plus I added kalamata olives, I mean, who wouldn't with a platter like that? I also had the homemade tea. The flavors were amazing! I'll definitely be back when I'm in town again! Thank you for a delicious meal!
It’s been a hot minute since I’ve gotten anything from Fresh Fin, and I had forgotten how INCREDIBLE the food is. All of their ingredients are super fresh and tasty. I’ve tried their more traditional fish-based bowls, as well as a few of their other options, and have never been disappointed. *One of my favorite things about this place is how accommodating they are to different dietary needs and preferences. Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten Free, watching carbs and/or cals, just about anything you could imagine. If you order online, they also have a section where you can note any allergies down to the specific ingredient in your bowl and their kitchen. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything so accessible. Even if it’s not for a specific dietary restriction, the customizability is a huge benefit and means you could eat here daily for months and always have something new to try. I’ve seen some comments about the prices, but the portions you get are beyond reasonable. I’ve had leftovers from the smaller size! Service has always been very quick and friendly in my experience. Just an overall wonderful spot with hearty and healthy foods!
I am asymptomatic celiac. They have several different menus (older versions?), and by luck I received the only one at the table that had gluten free markings on it. There are a decent amount of choices, but none of the pastas are marked. Apparently, sometimes they do not have the GF penne, but tonight they did.
The waitress did not know a lot of answers, but she was happy to run back and ask. Several times. Heh.
The meatballs and Alfredo sauce are not GF, but the marinara is. All pizzas can be made GF, and all of the dishes with meat as the main dish can be made GF (beef, chicken, 2 fish options).
I got marinara with chicken, and GF penne pasta, the side salad (without croutons) with the Italian garlic vinaigrette. That vinaigrette is absolutely delicious! The marinara was decent, but I've had better. It's a meal that I can eat, and got that, I'm grateful!
The servers were very helpful and friendly. I was able to easily adjust my meal for my food allergies- the food was tasty I love cactus! I did not become ill after eating due to cross contamination or anything despite them using a lot of corn in the kitchen which says a lot. Huzzah!! Also they have a very gluten free friendly menu - because they use a lot of corn. The cafe olla was heavenly. It is coffee with jicama and some sort of magical spice that makes it sumptuous and dessert like! The food came very quickly. The restaurant has a reasonable sized dining area and the acoustics were not terrible. It was colorful and clean. I would definitely recommend you check La Mestiza out!
I have celiac disease so I have to be careful about gluten and they made sure to make my tofu separate from their normal fryer. I've always loved this place even before finding out I couldn't eat gluten! Great tasting food and the quantity you get is amazing, I always have leftovers which I always look forward to. Very vegetarian and vegan friendly also, any dish can be substituted with tofu rather than meat!
WHO WROTE THOSE GLOWING REVIEWS?? It’s rare for me to leave a restaurant feeling conned, but last night was one of those nights. Positives: We had a parking place right out front, which was great for the person with mobility issues. The tablecloths were clean. My bowl of pasta and chicken had a decent flavor. Negatives: $150 for two people - absurd. That decent flavor cost me $35. The prices are nothing less than exorbitant for what you get. The waiter was simultaneously pushy and absent - can I get a bottle of wine for the table? (The cheapest bottle was $90.) How about those appetizers? (Ugh, ok, if it will make my glass of wine come faster.) 10 minutes for a salt shaker. We struggled to figure out the chaotic multi-section menu, about which our waiter helpfully responded “I’ve already told you what I recommend so you can just order that.” And please, I beg you - if you’re going to extort me, stop calling us “guys”. Two “specials” on their own page, one of which was a $75 twisty slab of steak with a plop of greens next to it. Caprese salad: A handful of basil leaves on a plate with 6 grape tomato halves and an ugly hunk of burrata cheese (which was warm on the outside, refrigerator cold in the middle). Pear appetizer: Same basil leaves, pears in hot milk, something stuck on the bottom of the cute little cast iron pan. Can we have some bread? Oh, sure - and returns 10 minutes later with a seasoned pizza crust - I suppose it WAS cooked in the wood-fired oven, though. Red sauce tastes like nobody tasted it before they served it. Pizza options (which the waiter will tell you is not meal-sized, and by the way, they have a gluten free crust but it’s not good so don’t order that) so weird as to be downright unappetizing. Just. Awful.
My girlfriend has a gluten intolerance allergy but was curious to try a concrete for the first time, knowing there was a risk of cross contamination but being willing to risk it. We told the drive-through opperator that she had a gluten allergy, and they checked the ingredients for us and marked the order on the sign with a gluten (wheat) allergy flag. When we pulled up to the window, the nicest employee gave us a number and warned us that it would be a few minutes because... they cleaned the blenders, the tools to mix and scoop, and even the extruder. This level of service at a fast food restaurant is unparalleled even compared to Chick-fil-A! We will be visiting other locations in the future with hopes of equal service!
Amazing bbq! We used their catering services for a group picnic and they did a great job with the drop-off and setup. They were super friendly and flexible when we need to change the timing around. Gluten-free and even vegetarian-friendly. Everyone absolutely loved the food! Definitely recommend!
Very personable, attentive server with lots of refills on drinks. Loved that they had a gluten sensitive menu. (Make sure you ask for it.) Had a Reuben with salad. Everything was hot and freshly made. Husband loved the Mayan chicken wrap and West African chicken stew. Delicious 😋 Will return.
Great food with gluten free options. Incredible farm to table burgers, locally sourced. Fabulous drink selection. The patio is lovely! The parking is difficult so give yourself a bit more time.
Fantastic place to eat for a good price, too! Good amount of options, has plenty of variety for those who are gluten free and/or vegetarian, and overall you get a decent portion for the price you pay, a rare sight on State Street.
Love this coffee shop in Madison on the Square. Our Go-to when we visit our Badger because of the gluten free cornbread...we order with bacon egg cheese and it's DELICIOUS. I recommend to all my gf peeps/groups. Used to be 2 slices of bread, but I think just the one slice is actually easier to eat. Bravo Wonderstate!
They have a good atmosphere for meeting with coworkers after work. However, their menu and food handling does not cater well to those with dietary restrictions. If you cannot eat gluten, you will likely have to deal with cross contamination here.
Very bland food with no taste.I have a gluten allergy and asked for the bread to be on a separate plate so someone else at my table can eat it. They still put it on my plate.
Culver's is always delicious. It's also great that they treat Gluten-Free food handling so well. My wife has Celiac disease and can safely eat a burger on a gluten free bun.
Note: The fries are generally cooked in a shared fryer and are therefore not suitable for those who have Celiac Disease.
We Came here for our anniversary brunch. Irish egg entree was excellent, as was tomato herb soup and grilled cheese on gluten-free focaccia bread. Felt very cared for by staff.
Lovely location with excellent staff and delicious food. Their gluten free options are much more extensive than any other local restaurant. They are very careful to make sure that the food they prepared was safe.
